This movie plays Guerrilla War at the "hard" level, but it really doesn't look like that. The author completes all tasks without breaking stride like a Sunday paper route.
Hard game made easy - I like it. -Bisqwit
Note: There are instance of rapid flashing after defeating bosses, which can cause epileptic seizures.

Circus Charlie is a simple game that most people probably know from pirate multigame carts. The first stages are easy for anyone even on real NES, but stage 3 is already quite challenging.
This movie plays "1 player game A" (easy). Ironically, this is MORE challenging for tool-assisted gameplay.
Stage times: 3410, 3560, 3750, 3890, 4270.
This movie obsoletes the previous movie by a mere 1 frame. This was done by a changed strategy in level 3. The unprecedentedly small margin of improvement is a result of how close to perfection this movie has become. This is most likely the final optimization of this game.

Even though at first sight this might seem like a kiddie game, when you start playing it you'll see that it's no cakewalk, and is actually very challenging.
There's a lot of fighting in this game, so this movie is nonstop action, and it has very accurate shooting.
This movie is a 35.5 second improvement over the previously published movie.

Literally translated, the name of this game means "demon travel journal".
It tells a story about a boy, Tarosuke, who seeks to meet Buddha, who will decide about Tarosuke's next life. In order to meet Buddha, Tarosuke has to do lots of good deeds which earn him "piousness".
This movie is ~80 seconds faster than the previous movie by Morimoto, which was the oldest non-obsoleted movie on this site at the time, being almost 4 years old.

Because there is a lot of interesting dialog in this movie, but all in Japanese, the YouTube and downloadable encodes have English subtitles for all in-game dialog text, as well as some explanations. It should help understanding the game events as well as enjoying its weird sense of fun.

The Solstice TAS has had more revisions than most movies on this site. This time, the run is almost nine seconds faster than the preceding version. A new route and a new trick are involved; more details can be found in author's comments.

Hammerin' Harry is a pretty simple platformer. Armed with a big hammer, you make your way through 5 levels, and the first 3 levels have bonus levels as well. At the end of each level there is a boss, and in some levels, there are also mini-bosses. In short, this game is a "normal" platformer, you won't have a hard time figuring out what's going on.

The story of The Blues Brothers is that the Blues Brothers have to take unorthodox routes in order to sneak their way into a gig.
This game is really fast-paced. Do a TAS of it, and… see for yourself. :)

A storybook game like Shadowgate and Uninvited.
In this one you star as Ace Harding, a detective who wakes up having no idea who or where he is. As the game progresses you discover that you have been framed for a crime you didn't commit, and must find a way to clear your name.
This is a 22 second improvement over the author's previous attempt by a slight route change and improved menu navigation.

This is a game similar to Shadowgate and Deja Vu. In it, you wake up in a crashed car just outside a strange mansion, desperate to explore the ghost-ridden building to find and rescue your missing sister.
The speed at which the author manipulates the menus is impressive. This is an 8.05 second improvement over the author's previous movie.

This run is 818 frames (13.63 seconds) faster than the previous run of the game. The improvements come from using torches in better places, manipulating the last boss, doing things in a different order, and better menu navigation.

Darkwing Duck (1992) is a platformer somewhat similar to Mega Man in gameplay and difficulty. The arrow gun allows the player to climb up walls and use creative shortcuts so that the absolute shortest route can be taken. In case you are wondering why the character keeps on jumping so much, it is because he has to wait a short amount of time before being able to walk. With constant jumping these stops can be avoided.
This movie is a joint venture between AnS and Randil to improve the previous run by Walker_Boh, resulting in 35.7 seconds saved through means of extensive optimization, luck manipulation and lag removal. We recommend reading the authors' comments for more details.

This is the fourth TAS movie of 快傑ヤンチャ丸 2 - からくりランド (Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 2 - Karakuriland).
This is a pretty straightforward and simple game, but the author was still able to improve the old movie by 15 seconds primarily by getting more speed shoes.

This game is a little similar to Bubble Bobble. Two players defeat hordes of enemies in fifty stages, only progressing when all enemies are gone. Enemies can either be turned into snowballs or can be killed by rolling a snowball on them. Unlike Bubble Bobble, though, there are boss fights every ten stages.
This is a 2 minute 48 second improvement over the previous movie. Like the previous movie it uses 2 players and does not take warps.
This movie is slower than the one-player version primarily because the slot machine bonus game after bosses takes longer with two players.

Tiny Toon Adventures (1993), based on a cartoon show of the same name, is a fairly easy game to play. However, it has a nasty bug lurking within it: if you press left and right simultaneously (you can do it if you break your controller's directional pivot), you can get some impressive momentum.
This along with Furball's "walljumping" is heavily abused in this movie, resulting in an impressive 10 second improvement to the previous movie by the same author.

The few players who have seen this game know that it's an evanescent one. An average speedrun might achieve a time such as 6 minutes. A 5 minute record is an excellent time for speedruns of this game, but requires a lot of luck.
But here we have a movie that is 50% faster than even that!
A long time has passed since the last improvement to this speedrun, and the frame fights between Phil and Walker_Boh had almost been forgotten. Now Randil joins the fight, and beats the previous run by 48 frames, "thanks to better luck manipulation and some improved movements".
