Somewhat fast bouncing around. The lack of a spin-dash makes the strategy a bit different than the other Sonic runs, since it becomes a lot more important to preserve your momentum. Completed without collecting any emeralds.
This is the second run of this game, improving on the previous effort by over ten seconds.

This is a hacked version of Sonic the Hedgehog. The title character is replaced by his rival, Knuckles. The levels remain unchanged.
There is more than just an appearance change to this game. Knuckles' abilities remain intact. If you haven't seen Sonic the Hedgehog completed before, you may wish to do so before seeing what a character with a spindash and gliding can accomplish.
There is also a run for a Tails hack of Sonic the Hedgehog, done by marzojr. It replaces Knuckles with Tails and gliding with flying.

Note: An IPS patch for the hack can be downloaded here: http://tasvideos-moviefiles.googlecode.com/files/ips%2Bpatcher.zip . It must be patched to REV 00.

In accordance with standard procedure, Samus discarded all of the items she collected on previous adventures before embarking on this one. This run aims for 100% item collection in the fastest time.
Super Metroid has a wide variety of time-saving glitches to exploit, many of which are explained on the Super Metroid Tricks page.
The in-game completion time of this run is 00:37:54, but since game timers have never really been good at rounding things up, it is shown as 00:37 after the game has been completed.
If you prefer to watch the fastest completion without getting all the items, check out Super Metroid in 38:41 by Taco & Kriole.
The first streaming YouTube link leads to a high definition encode without input display. There is a second video encode that shows the gamepad input over the game video. The author has hidden some secret messages in it that might be interesting to see!

A fast-paced action platformer from Sunsoft with similarities to both Mega Man and Blaster Master. What could go wrong with a mix like that!
This is a 13-second improvement to the previous author's movie.

It's been a long time since a Bionic Commando TAS was submitted, but here we at last have a new version.
Note: The previous version was made with the Japanese version, whereas this version is made with the USA version. There was actually a large debate on this site regarding which version should be used -- both versions contain something good and something bad that the other does not. The question is still open, but in the mean time, here is this new movie. In where it matters, it is faster than the previous movie.

Bionic Commando is a platform game with a hero who can't jump, but can quickly latch onto objects with his bionic arm. The TAS looks very impressive with its inhumanly fast grappling and swinging.
This is Cardboard's and JXQ's second contribution to Bionic Commando, this time improved by about 4.5 seconds.

This hack of Super Mario World contains a Star World which contains themed levels that connect to various locations on the map. Like the original Super Mario World, these levels can be used as a makeshift warp zone. This movie demonstrates this path - navigating the Star World to charge straight to Bowser, leaving much of the game untouched.
This movie is a whopping 24 second improvement to the previous movie. Full list of changes can be read in the authors' comments.
The homepage for Super Demo World, including the patch to be used on a Super Mario World ROM, and the program used to make the hack, is available online.

A quick run-through of the first Kirby game ever released, which predates Kirby's ability to absorb enemy powers.
This run uses the 'Extra Game' password (up+select+A at title screen), which makes the enemies and bosses much more aggressive and damaging than usual.
This is a 32 second improvement over the previous movie by Spezzafer.

Moon Crystal (ムーンクリスタル), a platformer only released in Japan, follows a boy through his quest to save his family. The mechanics of the game are slightly reminiscent of Ninja Gaiden and Prince of Persia, with rather detailed animation.
Items that can be obtained include boots which allow a double-jump maneuver, and a sword, which causes multiple hits when the character's energy is low. Bosses are defeated quickly by using this sword power-up, after taking enough damage to activate its extra power.

Similar to the NES game of the same name, Rad Spencer must defeat evil using only his grappling hook hand and various big guns. The author abuses the grappling hook to move very quickly and through seemingly solid floor.

Jason and his magical jumping tank, "S.O.P.H.I.A.", are back, this time in glorious 16-bit graphics (and not so glorious sound). Much like its predecessor, the player must alternate between sidescrolling and overhead views to collect parts for the tank and vanquish evil.
This movie abuses death to a large degree to obliterate the game in record time.

River City Ransom is a goofy game that deserves a goofy TAS. This movie showcases cool tricks and some glitches that don't necessarily result in the fastest completion. We also have a movie which aims for speed.
Selected Quote from the authors:
We looked at previous submissions and demonstrations of this game and tried to include the most entertaining parts of what was available, and add in a few ideas of our own along the way. Hopefully you'll get a kick out of it.

Sub-Terrania is a very different game with a fresh (unforgiving) physics engine. As the pilot of a small ship, you explore areas to collect items and rescue miners, fighting against momentum and gravity.
