In the year 2029, evil Emperor Garuda somehow establishes a dictatorial government in the United States. After many lives are lost, two ninjas attempt to overthrow him.
Shadow of the Ninja is one of the rare games in which constantly jumping and slashing is faster than regular running. The author makes sure to use this move extensively both to travel and to deal damage to enemies, and so it may seem that the ninja has a severe case of ADHD.
This game was released in Europe as Blue Shadow and in Japan as Kage.
Note: the previous movie was erroneously played on the European PAL version in NTSC mode, making the game run too fast. Its actual completion time was 11:15, making this movie 1 minute and 26 seconds faster.

A fast-paced action platformer from Sunsoft with similarities to both Mega Man and Blaster Master. What could go wrong with a mix like that!
This is a ~40-second improvement to the previous author's movie, due to a discovery of a faster way to move.
This movie has an Atlas Map encode of Stage 1, which shows the standard encode overlaid on a zoomed out map.

Seems anytime a movie is thought to be perfect someone comes along and improves it. Here, klmz has improved Pom's movie by 84 frames by using a glitch that allows him to skip the flagpole animation.
The submission text contains more details about this new glitch.
Even in simple-looking games you can always find more time-saving tricks to exploit if you look hard enough. See what's been found so far at the Super Mario Bros. Tricks page.
Note: The original .avi mispelled the authors name in the subtitles. This was corrected on 2007-12-22. Redownload if you downloaded it prior to this date.

Mario has eaten too many poisonous mushrooms and as a result, decided to go on a furious killing spree. In this berserker state he has also gained the new secret ability to walk through walls at will.
Wondering how some tricks work? Information is available at Super Mario Bros. Tricks page.
This movie is faster than the previous version thanks to the flag pole glitch discovered by klmz.

This is the real Super Mario Bros 2. It was never officially released in the USA and Europe. It was later ported to SNES, and released as "Lost Levels" on Super Mario All-stars. Phil remembers there were pirate copies of this game under the name Super Mario Bros. 3.
FDS means Famicom Disk System. It was a Japanese disk-unit version of the NES.
