Lua callbacks for memory read/write/execute, and input poll are extremely useful in TASing, so if we ever want to make use of mame for TASing in any way in future, we should request that those are implemented. Or implement them ourselves, sending a pull request. The infrastructure for memory hooking is already there, it's just a matter of exposing it to lua. Dunno about input polling, it is at least not trivial IIRC.

The main question is: is picking barrels limited in this movie, and if it is, how?
Also, in Moons we explicitly allow esoteric goals as long as the definition feels solid and the movie is entertaining, the guideline you quoted existed long before we created tiers, and can't be taken as a rule in such cases.

We don't have a workaround rule for "annoying boot-up sequence", and I don't think we should, because scenarios one might want to work around could be endless, and having an exception for every iffy case would mean no solid rule is even there. So it's annoying but we'll have to deal with it.

I checked it out and I think it's a decent goal definition. The gameplay difference is very apparent; the main question becomes "but you still go fast without running and rolling in a few places", but it's legitimate since it's not running, or rolling. In Sonic "no zips" Aglar clips through things and people noticed it and it was questioned, but the result was still very entertaining, technically no zipping was involved, and it was published with a potential way to be obsoleted by a slightly different goal. Here it feels the same, maybe it'd feel more "walkathon" without going fast at all, but gameplay would look largely similar to this movie anyway, just a little bit slower.
I think walkathon is the best name, even if it's not 100% perfect. It should just be mentioned that we define walkathon as no running or rolling which is what the Y button does.

Isolated in what way? If they only become accessible after having completed (or tried) the 18-hole game, we'd only accept a movie that plays Special alone if those are entertaining enough for Moons. In that case, it'd be better to play all the golf courses in one movie. If they are accessible independently from the start, they can be played independently and be acceptable, but given the nature of the game, I guess playing all the golf courses in one movie still makes the most sense. So yeah, just do all golf courses in one movie.

Don't use the submission queue (workbench) for movies that can be easily beaten. Do due research and have all due discussions beforehand, make a movie that's not questionable, only then make a submission.
Sometimes making a submission is the only way to draw people's attention and actually discuss the project, but you have the attention now, so do all the preparations in a dedicated game thread and make sure your work is complete.

That one is a command line tool, what you need is a VideoForWindows encoder that can be seen in this menu
Lagarith doesn't work well with youtube, Camstudio codec isnt recognized by bizhawk 2.x, so your best bet is x264vfw, with either lossy or lossless mode. See here for where to get it and how to configure it:

From what I can tell, no one on TASVideos is pushing for instant tape loader for movies, and it's unlikely to ever be allowed due to our purism. For casual gaming, by all means, just like skipping the BIOS.

Bizhawk only accepts CUEs for PSX, while other PS emulators only accept BINs. What's written in the submissions depends on that factor, and also maybe on human error, and also the hash of the BIN is more important so maybe people were just sharing that?
