TAS was submitted almost 10 years ago. You might as well check yourself.

Author just learnt about truncating the input. However got it wrong. Here's a Light Spike correcting it: User movie #44943884649621030 (Shaves 7688 frames of blank input.)

Yars also appears to have different colours the longer you go, and during points within the game you lose your shield. TAS appears incomplete if we're looking for the actual loop then. (which the longplay achieves in finding by the looks of it) As for the longplay example. hopper you should switch it to the updated longplay.

Slower than the ROM Hack Submission that exists. Which was rejected for not being a quality hack which is written in the guidelines. On top of not providing the Game Genie codes it's also not a valid submission as it goes against the rules of using a Game Genie. "They count as hacked versions of the game if they touch ROM areas. Either convert it to a real hack or don't use it at all." And we actually have a real hack, which I pointed to in the start of my comment. As well as the fact that you used a Multi-Pack version instead of straight Super Mario Bros. --- <MESHUGGAHTAS> Make sure to educate him about ending a movie too. After that message he decided to quit IRC. So instead of placing this in private for him. I'm going to publicize this as this was something so simple to explain and to know about that he decided to get out of dodge instead of getting a simple explanation which is basically every single Super Mario Bros. TAS that exists holds on it. How about no. In the case of Super Mario Bros. blank input continues to run until you touch the axe. The case is fine, I don't want to watch it back to shave probably 5 frames cause the TAS is fairly invalid and slow compared to one that already exists.

Not a bug. It's a feature. And this has been brought up before some time ago. Any movie under the "Featured Movie" listing is any Star Movie that exists.

Gets a private message Yeah, I'm just going to make this message public.
billygod wrote:
You were talking about "accept background input" right? If so, I've activated it so I do not have any more mistakes. Tks bro.
No. Background Input means nothing to what I wrote. It's not even related. You've created mistakes in making the TAS by not going through it properly and only playing at 25% of the game speed instead of taking it seriously. Your rerecord count in a game like this is an indication on how little effort you put into making this TAS. You have instances in your TAS where you fail to get past some Zombies. At (3:00) where the Zombies burst through you decide to push them for a good couple of seconds. It's faster to transition into another room and then back into that section then go by those Zombies. (Or probably better to not shove the Zombies around in a jumbled mess) If I knew how the IGT worked on the PS1 version and PC version I would have done a direct comparison to the PC speedrun but since I don't, the only option available is to compare to the PS1 runs that exist or find someone in the RE community to go through this. I've done the latter half and asking the RE community about this. --- Edit: And I got a response about it, didn't ask if they wanted to be public or not so I do apologize as I'm bringing them up as private. (Kinda jumbled my words when bringing this TAS up to them as it was assumed as something I made. Which I later state wasn't done by me.) - There's few criticisms probably just because after watching like 10 mins can already stuff that could be faster. - In the rpd at 6:40 instead of doing the strat most PC players do, which is squeezing between that crawling zombie's hitbox and the desk and clipping through that alone is like 3-4 secs gone in the first 6 mins, for just a single room. - 11:26, in this room you don't need to stop at all, you just keep running and strafe from right to left to avoid the first zombie (here is a video of that strafe). - 14:04 this fat zombie optimally wouldn't need to be dodged, as you can slip in and out before he even gets near the doorway if he isn't turbo. There's more, but this is just within the first 20 minutes.

Hey Evan remember how in the SMB3 thread you were told to use the Game Resources page as that would have the information to Mario 3. Same applies to SMB. Use the Game Resources page as everything for SMB already exists.

You focused on nearly all my points but you missed the major two on why it's definitely going to be rejected, if the other points are invalid (which they're not).

So good job on that.

Remove the word "this" and change the word "game" to "TASing", then apply it to yourself. Cause you're not even using the touch screen.

If you judge the whole TAS then the video is not interesting.
Not our fault that you can't menu to save a life. Doesn't matter. Game can be an autoscroller for all we care, and even if that's suboptimal in every part except the boss (in that case also the boss) it'll become rejected.

Which basically means no one will be able to verify your TAS therefore your TAS has a very high chance of being rejected. -> Alternatively: No Verification Movie > Boss Rush (I know it says "Bash" but it's basically a Boss Rush mode). Basically the reason why a Kirby "boss rush" TAS doesn't exist. You're a moderator to a game who should understand what the purpose of TASing is, but you provided this? Going off what I saw including your menuing. I'm going to go on the assumption as nothing is provided, that your TAS is suboptimal. Just to show it off as a side-by-side. I went to GameFAQs just so I can show, and so I can see how much of your TAS can sync with it (desynced at the start with Feed and Seed). Ontop of that GoddessMaria has a better Hammer Chime than you. She kicked in a 18.76. A niconico TAS cracked in an 18.90 right behind GoddessMaria. Nice RNG "manipulation".

What hopper wrote. Also using what hopper wrote I'm kinda upset that Boot Throwing was just used to generate fouls. The TAS could've easily produced a "max score" but it wasn't done. Meh on the Vote.

It's also the better Zelda game. As for the submission, gymnast86 is having issues as the file is too big for submitting. The TAS is available to watch on gymnast's YouTube I'll just relink it here for those at home who are a bit lazy to do a few mouse clicks: Author's Commentary Version with special guests Pheenoh (the Meano), & Dragonbane0 Link to video

Just as a point out you're slower off at the start of the gate to get into first cutscene. I'm just going to place that under as Emulation Improvements and ignore it. Since I'm a bit lazy at changing the table I'm using. Left is New. Right is Old. Because of this. Difference will be Negative and not Positive. Anything Negative in the stage comparison is better for Nonster. In-Game Time:
LEVEL | NONST | SOIG | DIF
 1-1 | 456 | 456 | 0
 1-2 | 457 | 456 | -1
 1-3 | 451 | 450 | -1
 5-1 | 449 | 448 | -1
MINIG | 93 | 93 | 0
 5-3 | 445 | 445 | 0
 5-C | 533 | 533 | 0
 5-4 | 357 | 355 | -2
 5-H | 571 | 571 | 0
 8-1 | 431 | 431 | 0
 8-2 | 423 | 422 | -1
 8-7 | 343 | 343 | 0
 8-S | 399 | 368 | -31
 8-B | 586 | 586 | 0
 END | 516 | 515 | -1
TOTAL | 5849 | 5886 | -38

Note: Higher is better*
*Lower is better for "difference"
(I'll fix the table at a later time cause maybe.) KEY: B = Bowser, C = Castle, H = Haunted House, MINIG = Mini Game, S = Ship END refers to no input that's why there are 2 times for the final level. Total time reads all except for 8-B since that and END are the same level. Since it's basically definitive by a whopping 38 IGT compared to 8 IGT last time. I'm not going to do a frame by frame. (Totally not because of the fact it's a pain in the ass to do that one)

I'm doing this as a point out. I don't really care about the decision of it being accepted and I'm being the publisher but I need to point this out for whoever wants to obsolete this. Reminder: Each comma when talking about input is the next frame. --- I'm disappointed grassini. So close yet so far from being completely super-human. Mainly this is because I actually looked into your input instead of doing what I actually did of just going straight to end input and not caring about anything else. How about we do a little bit of a flashback to Justice League? I'm going to echo N?K out of everything that happened in Justice Leauge since he's one reason you went back into redoing it until you got it. But I'll just focus on his first point heavily. Now one of the things that talk about a suboptimal TAS is menuing. Your menuing is still shocking after all this time. Now in the comparison my frames will be related to that of using mGBA so numbers will be off for me as it's VBA vs BizHawk. Opening Sequences. 452-535 you're mashing between S & A to get through the intro. That's fine if you didn't double up in your mashing at certain points. It is only 2 sequences but come on such a simple error. Start Menu. 544-580 you're holding Start and Up and then eventually pressing A. Now in actual count in menu to get to options that's 27 frames. Now let me teach you optimal. Start,Down,Up,A. 4 frames. Options Menu. 728-736 you have a great idea here. Left, Down, Right, Down, , Down, , Down, A. Issue 1: It's faster to go; Left,Down+Right,Up, ,Up,A As it's only 2 spots away from Exit not 3. Issue 2: There's actually faster than that. It's this: Left,Down+Right,B Just like that it went from, 9 frames to 6 to 3. But at least you got revisiting the Menu right for the most part. --- Now for anyone that wants a frame timer mainly for just the Millenniummon Fight. This is what the value is for VBA: 03004D0E (4 bytes, Unassigned) For BizHawk it's: 4D0E (4 bytes, IWRAM) The frame time grassini got at Millenniummon according to the timer is 1689 --- Now again. I don't care that it's being accepted or that I'm already publishing it, I'm just pointing it out to the others and it's up to others (or yourself) to obsolete it. Don't worry, your TAS will be published before that will happen though. --- Round 2. Judgement Screens. From First Frame Visible to First Frame Black. You should be in and out in 326 frames. You're in there on first round for 501 frames. And I write first round, cause you actually found a way to speed it up, but you didn't stick to it. Each Judgement that matters all up on your input: 3120 frames. Optimal: 2282 frames. (Ignoring Millenniummon as it's after ending input, this is all 7 important Judgement Screens the game throws at you.) All you had to do was hit A on the 14th and 16th frame of those screens. Again. This is just pointing out for every single person on the forums about the issues with your TAS in terms of TAStime as that's the more important factor for it. Cause how else would you improve on an autoscroller? So grassini, what other shortcuts did you do to this TAS that you don't want me to dive into? After all. I only have Millenniummon left to look at since this is an 87.5% autoscroller. --- Oh nevermind. I did it for you. Round 3 Millenniummon Left is me. Right is you. The RAM Watch is ordered as Millenniummon's Remaining Health and Stage Frame Time respectively. At 18 HP Millenniummon switches palettes. Now I got there at the frame time of 767 you got there at 797. The image being shown on the forums itself and not behind an URL is when the time matches. I got Millenniummon down to 15, you have him still at 18. And I'm still working on it. I'm going to knack on the judgement here. I told you ThunderAxe to be careful with this submission. You didn't take my warning to heart at all. grassini once more. Please don't halfass your TASes. Edit: A video was requested on the comparison of time between you and optimal in terms of menu and judgement screens.

I like my Automated TASes like I like my Dinosaur. No Vote with a side of Rejection. Should've submitted this on April Fools. Game ends ~28k frames in which is like just under 8 minutes. (Looking at the updated input Flip provided.) Nevermind. That's the attract credits. An encode is coming.... in 5 years. And 5 years later here's the encode: Link to video Real time isn't accurate for some stupid reason that I don't know why (as I've never dealt with wrong framerates before even though they should be correct in avisynth before). But it's 1:45:10.29 for first frame credits appears. It's only off by ~8 seconds on the timer I have, again don't know why it's like that I did what I personally knew so yeah. The frame timer is correct however.
