There's something missing in the channel at the moment... COLORS! Recently I was trying to write something in a different color and it displayed on my screen but everyone just said they saw black text instead.

It's not missing, it's by choice. (+c in channel mode is the color filter) Then again, I can't see what you could convey with colors that isn't doable with plain old text. Usually colors just end up being annoying (like the overly small forum text here).

Colors can be used to convey useful information sometimes. Of course, that's sometimes, and not always... most people aren't dumb enough to abuse it. Unfortunately, I think +c strips out underline and bold, which are far more useful... I prefer using smaller text for offhanded comments, but whatever.

+c (color filter): This cmode activates the colour filter for the channel. This filters out bold, underline, reverse video, beeps, mIRC colour codes, and ANSI escapes. Note that escape sequences will usually leave cruft sent to the channel, just without the escape characters themselves. Source So yes, underlines and bold text should be filtered as well.

How come, like, all your posts are relating to IRC? Shouldn't you be asking about some of this stuff in the channel, where people can help you out or give answers in real-time? Anyways, the only thing I would change would be a black background with white text. Easier to read, and easier on the eyes.

Probably because he already got his answer and explanation of why it was happening in IRC (multiple times). Apparently he didn't didn't like it/chose to ignore it and came to the forum to try and rally support.

You can just change the appearance in your IRC client to make it black on white, or whatever you like. Probably. Unless it is one of those ultra-slim IRC clients that fit into 7kB.

Colours? No. Text Decoration? yes. I suppose *for now* emphasis can be added by using asterisks. If you want to change backgrounds and stuff, do it client side in your IRC client.
<adelikat> I am annoyed at my irc statements ending up in forums & sigs
