Ok, I have an Idea. Would you think doing Tool-Assisted gameplay under certain restrictions to accomplish a goal for fun with others as competition a good idea? Let me give an example. In Megaman X, complete a stage with only one weapon while never switching it and collect a heart tank and sub tank then beat the stage (including boss) as fast as you can. One person gives an idea like this and people willing to compete all complete a TAS of that said goal. A certain time and date will be given to inform the players of when to be finished their respective task. Then, they give their TAS movie file to someone to time each one and make a compilation video for youtube (I am able to do this although I'm not sure about timing. I can time by frames though and encode a video but I'm still scratchy on actual timing.) So far I have two people that said that they would like to try it. Two friends of mine that are new to TAS and I respect that and said they can if they want. Only classic games though like NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, and even GBA (even though it really isn't classic) So, what do you think?

What is the point of the arbitrary goal? That is similar to this http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8537&highlight=
Well, actually I had this in mind to be between me and a few friends. That's how it turned into how I have it currently. Also, I suck at teamwork. You can say it's similar to the Super Mario 64 compilations... Just minus the Mario 64, only old school games. But if this was a bad idea, you should have just said so ;) Btw, do you have anything in mind? Maybe someone can think of something to change this up a bit.

I've wondered about this kind of thing in the past, but I'm not sure how well it would work out. I may or may not participate... might be kinda fun though. It would probably be good to choose a game that hasn't already been TASed to death and possibly not with arbitrary goals. I mean go with the basic categories: low%, any%, 100% runs, etc. I mean, with some goals I guess it could be interesting, it all depends.

Well, the reason I wouldn't choose a game that hasn't already beed TASed to death is because it's good to have fair skills at whatever we TAS. I know I'm not the best TASer since I'm horrible at glitch exploitation even with the sites tricks page. Also, it'll only be a single level not full game TAS. I had in mind something like: "Who can beat world 1-1 in Super Mario bros while killing all the enemies and beat the level as fast as possible" I'm doing that one with 2 other friends just because I want to keep my word. Other than that, I really don't know. I guess the goals are pretty bad. That said, Let me hear what you have in mind. Give me an example of what I should change. Maybe this can end up being something good. Edit: Here is an example of the challenge said above. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjytciAkHzM Could have been a little faster. I guess we should choose more than these games that everyone played. Adding more games should be fun too. Still, it'll stay at Individual level goals because this is to be made into compilation videos with everyone's video or just the top few times or something like that.
