While recently enjoying the competition over at Dwelling of Duels it occured to me that the submission process should be anonymous. There are a lot of celebrated authors whose acclaim might skew the decision making of the voters. It would be simple to enact, as the submission text could merely be edited to hide the author's name. Obviously, some people prefer to post WIP movies and foster discussion, so their anonymity wouldn't count for much. But overall, I think this would greatly improve the movie approval process.

This might be quite troublesome to try to enforce, especially since it often happens that the submitter needs to answer certain questions that are brought upon by the movie watchers.

This would be impossible to implement. If the author wants people to know that it is him, he or she can do so.

This would be especially impossible for movies whose development is discussed on the forums. When you have been planning and working on a run for a long time, everyone will know who you are when you submit it. If this discouraged discussion at all I don't think it would be a good thing, and quality would definitely suffer.

Couldn't they simply edit the submission text? I thought that was what they were supposed to do in the first place.

I don't think that the author's name changes the viewers opinion in any way ... If a time attack is boring, it's boring, even if it's made by the greatest time-attacker of all times. And frankly, I've never seen in the workbench a commentary such as "This is a (author's name) run, so I vote YES. I didn't watch it, but since it's (author's name), it's good. YES!!!" I don't see the point of making ALL submissions anonymous. However, I think it could be a good idea to add a checkbox in the submission form so that people wanting to be anonymous have the choice of being anonymous or not. I personnaly don't know why someone would want to be, but it would be a good thing to make this a CHOICE, and not an obligation.
