Of course it is generally, but it's more about my case.
I've got a gaming PC and an Xbox 360. My main platform is the PC, and my Xbox 360 is only for console exclusives.
I've already got the money to buy a PS3 and some games. Is it worth getting in my case? You don't need to bring the Blu-Ray argument, since my PC can play Blu-Ray discs.
Also, what are the best PS3 exclusives that aren't God of War and Uncharted?
I suppose if you have money to burn and there's this really really cool PS3-exclusive game you absolutely want to play... then sure, that game may be worth an extra 250€ for the hardware. But just getting one for the sake of having one is kinda useless, with two good gaming platforms already at your disposal.
In other words, you can save a lot of money by NOT asking about the best PS3 exclusive games out there. If you don't know them, you won't miss them. ;)

It all depends really, if there are games that performs better on the PS3 or are exclusive to the PS3 (that you want to play of course), then by all means go for it.
If you are unsure if you will like the exclusive games for the PS3 most big video game stores lets you try the games if you ass them enough.

Uncharted 1 and 2 (and now 3 in november). Seriously, these games are top. Generally I don't like modern games focused on story telling, cut scenes, etc. But uncharted does it for me. I like the dialogue, the acting, the action, the shooting, the fighting, the platforming. Top ps3 games by far. I'm sure you will find other exclusives along the way. Ico and shadow of the colossus remakes have just been released, if you haven't played the ps2 versions they are must-have.
The PS3 isn't a bad streaming media receiver, though it's finicky about the formats is receives.
It supposedly does 3d bluray playback with the latest firmware. But in your situation I do not see any compelling reason to go PS3 if you don't have any games you're looking for.
I haven't played any PS3 exclusives, but I would say the best ones not mentioned already are:
- 3D Dot Game Heroes
- Demon's Souls
- Gran Turismo 5
- Heavenly Sword
- Heavy Rain
- Infamous
- Infamous 2
- Killzone 2
- Killzone 3
- LittleBigPlanet 2
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
- PixelJunk Shooter 2
- Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
- Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
- Resistance: Fall of Man
- Resistance 2
- Resistance 3
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Yakuza 3
- Yakuza
I should buy a PS3. >_>

Interestingly, this convinces me I have no need for a PS3.
Sage advice from a friend of Jim: So put your tinfoil hat back in the closet, open your eyes to the truth, and realize that the government is in fact causing austismal cancer with it's 9/11 fluoride vaccinations of your water supply.
I bought a PS3 from someone from NintendoAge after figuring out whether I'd want a PS3 or 360.
PS3 won me over for a lot of reasons... Bluray player, downloadable PS1 Classics, the fact I can swap out the HDD and pop in one of my own and get it to run [Backwards compatible model didn't hurt my cause either].. definitely good when you wanna download lots. And with the fact Sony has a bunch of Japanese PS1 classics released as well, it definitely was an awesome bonus for me.
It runs stuff off my PC as a server, which is awesome when entertaining in the living room :) As someone pointed out, a bit finicky, but hey, so am I! :)
WiFi being free was also a nice bonus. Very easy to setup out of the box and run with it.
3D Dot Game Heroes, Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4 are 3 solid titles, the latter which amazed me with how good it ended up being.
Honestly, the only thing the 360 had that the PS3 didn't for me was a few Japanese shmups [region free ones at that!] and that one Castlevania game... which looks less and less interesting the more gameplay I see of it. x.x;;
Never owned an XBox to begin with... have played a 360 numerous times.. and while the controller was kinda cool... PS3 just had enough for me to be content.
But as always, opinion will vary.

It's not like the xbox 360 doesn't have its own good exclusive games (or games not available for the PS3). I have liked Gears of War 1&2, Lost Odyssey, Alan Wake, Blue Dragon, Splinter Cell Conviction, Infinite Undiscovery and Fable II.
Of course it depends a lot on what kind of games you like.
I would say that no, it's not worth getting if you already have a PC and an X360. Unless you're the type that really, REALLY needs to play GT5 or MGS4. But then, if you were one of those, you'd already have the PS3.

XBOX 360 has more games and Kinect.
I would say it's not worth getting a PS3 unless you are some kind of idort.

How so?

The fact that a system has more games doesn't mean it has better games. Also, I don't think Kinect is worth the extra money.

It is. Wiimotes and PlaystationMove are jokes compared to Kinect.

Thank you for your answers.
I've also asked this on another forum, Google+ and Facebook. Yeah, I've been that crazy since I've told myself I could get a PS3.
Most answers go from "Only if there are exclusive games that you're really interested into" to "No".
I've also taken a look at PS3 exclusives. I think the only games I'm really interested into are Valkyria Chronicles, Uncharted and WipeOut. Three games aren't going to make me buy a console that is approaching the end, particularly since most games are also available on PC and Xbox 360!
So, my decision is made. No PS3 for me. I'm getting a PSVita thought, since I've been thinking of getting one since a while.

If you are into horror games, then the PS3 is da winnar when it comes to current consoles. It's a huge difference to play on something silent over trying to play a horror game in what resembles an aircraft. And yes, I do own a PS3, 360, Wii and a handful of PCs so I do know the drill. There are a couple of other reasons to pick the PS3 but since you've made up your mind, no point in listing them.

May I ask why you don't wanna hear about uncharted?
I've put God of War and Uncharted because that the two PS3 exclusives I could think of easily.
I'm interested in Uncharted, but I guess my first Uncharted game will be on the Vita.

The xbox 360 is pretty quiet. As for a PC, it depends a lot on the PC (and even its bios settings).

Well, I know God of War always was and will always be a game for morons who can't get never get tired of action movies/games' cliches and love following on-screen commands.
I've never played Uncharted, but I saw some youtube videos and it looks like shit.
This thread is full of fat fanboys exposing their personal opinions instead of solid evidence so there's not much I can say... I'll have to link you to a picture then.

1- Kinect motion detection works perfectly in full darkness. It only demands some light for face recognition. And just like the Playstation Move, it may not work properly under direct sunlight.
But can the Playstation Move recognize you? Maybe if you stick it up your fat butt.
2- Input Lag? yep, it's full body motion detection so there is some. But check this out and tell me if you can see that immense lag they talk about.
3- Hardcore games. Dance Central looks pretty hardcore to me. Kinect isn't meant to replace normal controllers by the way.
