Well, I am holding this run as this game is very hard to optimized. By the way, I am improving this run by using a slide-spin move.

My computer is currently not functioning so I cannot look at your last WIP. I am working on finding what is broken but it may take some time.

OK. You can download my Any% WIP here. Time: 01:52.17 Frames: 6730 Rerecord Count: 1313 About this WIP: This run completes at least two levels in fastest time. This run is 96 frames faster than wwmarx' run. Thanks again to AndyD for making a slide-spin move faster. I'd stop after Lagoony Tunes because I know you want to see my first WIP of my improvement using a slide-spin move. What do you think?

I will take a look at it when I solved my computer problem. Sorry for making you wait.

You can download my Any% Redo WIP here. Time: 01:52.1 Frames: 6726 Rerecord Count: 662 Improvement: This WIP is 4 frames faster than my previous WIP while 100 frames faster than wwmarx' one. That's all. Warepire: If you still have your computer problem, maybe I should upload an encode in YouTube.

Encode works, my laptop runs Linux so I cannot watch VBM files. Hopefully the parts I need to fix my PC will arrive in the next week.

Encode: http://www.mediafire.com/?r7bket70hreoclg You can download my encode and see if it works.

Looks great, one question: The info-sign right before the TNT in intro level, is it faster to read that than jump over? To me it looks like jumping over it is faster.

Well, I'd watched mmarks' WIP in his post. And I copied his move but not his input, though. I think there's no way to jump over a TNT box.

I meant jumping over the "tooltip" sign instead of triggering it. Sorry for not being clear on that.

Yes. Even that. But even you jump over a tooltip, it can decreases speed by bouncing over a TNT box.

Ah, then I didn't see anything that can be better about that segment.

OK. You can download my next WIP here. Encode is also here. Time: 03:29.32 Frames: 12559 Rerecord Count: 5128 About this WIP: This WIP is 346 frames faster than wwmarx' one. This was done by using a slide-spin move and also my new move which is a slippery slide-spin move. As in Pharaoh's Funhouse, I'd bounced over a TNT box instead of crashing it because I need Aku Aku mask for a red gem shard. And in final slippery path, I'd reversed as I need to get a hyper speed. As in Prints of Persia, in green gem shard area, blocking is faster than I thought. Unlike wwmarx, I didn't get an Aku Aku box becuase I will get this in Runaway Rug, or not. Just like I said, I'd stopped after this level because Globe Trottin' is the next level.

I can't think of anything that can be done better. Looks good.

The example run I did was only an example. You need to find out the most optimized spin/slide/jump combination. Once you figure it out you can use it on every level up until you get the sprint ability. Address for x velocity is
02015058
signed
4 bytes
walk/spin/jump - 512 slide - 1280 at peak

Hey, thanks for the RAM Address, AndyD. Maybe I should restart this TAS using a Slide-Only move and compare between them. EDIT: I think slide-spin is faster. I'd compared them last time.

More X Velocity Value: In an Slippery Area: -Walk Only - 512 -Walk After Landing - Increasing to 768 -Slide - 1792 at Peak By the way, I am holding on for a long time.

Sorry I've waited you so long. Well, it's back to school in our country today. So I'm not sure if I will finish this TAS in this year. However, this project is NOT DEAD. As for 100%, I will improve this after I've finished the Any% run. So, my schedule will be every Friday and Weekends. Thanks for understanding :)

No worries, school is important. My schedule has cleared up a bit now, so I should be able to help out more, if I feel I get GBA TASing under control (currently I am not that good at frame-optimization), I might even be interested in co-running this with you.

OK. Warepire and I are doing this improvement. And you can download the 1st level improvement here. Time: 00:41.70 Frames: 2502 Rerecord Count: 1896 About this WIP: This WIP is 3.62 seconds (217 frames) faster than the previous one. Thanks to AndyD for the X Velocity RAM watch. As Andy said, the velocity for walking is 512. So, I'd spin at the velocity of 552, because it will become the velocity of 496 afterwards, which is less than the velocity for walking. However, I tried hard on dodging the last tool-tip. So, I'd spin it early to dodge it easily. By the way, I wanted also to thank Warepire for giving me a set of RAM Watches. And you can download them here. This set includes: -The X & Y Velocity for normal and bonus levels -The X & Y Position for normal and bonus levels -The Velocity for Atlas Sphere levels (actually not measured in X & Y) -Number of Crates Bashed, Fruits Collected, and Lives. However, this set is not yet complete. We still need: -A better name for Atlas Sphere Velocity address -Velocity for Wake Board levels -All the boxes in the level -Velocity for sun escape levels Maybe you can help us find these addresses :)

Important about the Atlas Sphere velocity: It seems like you should add the values together (ignore sign) to get the velocity in the direction you are going, I am not certain about this though.

Good news everyone! I have found Wakeboard speed and the total boxes value. Here is the updated watch: http://www.mediafire.com/?0k0wl7yq7oczjxe For the wakeboard: Pretty much everything besides normal steering costs speed, which limits the amount of entertainment possibilities, I will make a new attempt in a day or so at doing Lagoony Tunes without loosing speed. Now all we need is the velocity for the sun-escape levels.

Done with Lagoony Tunes without speed loss, at least the high speed is kinda entertaining, sadly the maneuver capabilities are quite slim when holding the B-button which forces me to stay on the edges if I wanted to stay at max speed. I was trying to be as entertaining as possible and taking as many close calls that I could without going insane trying to pull them off, the hit boxes on these wakeboard levels are weird, I don't have to touch things for them to actually hit me. Sadly it doesn't get more entertaining than this. VBM: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/85358952/Crash%20Bandicoot%202%20-%20N-Tranced%20Any%25.vbm
