I've noticed this happening and felt I needed to post about it. Sometimes when I hit frame advance, the next frame will hang for a while, and then if I press it again, the game will unpause. (I'm on 4.0-7099, btw) This seems to happen at random, but I'd like to know if this is a known issue or I just messed something up. It's definitely a hindrance from a tasing standpoint.
Oh, yeah, I was looking all over to find out what the problem was with the new versions. Good, now I know what it is. I'm just using the AV sync hack for 4.0.2 for now.
I was looking through the issue tracker but couldn't find this. Could someone provide a link?
Personally I found revision 5732 to be fairly stable with frame advances. Problems were reasonably uncommon, though if there was a problem it usually ended up being a crash (with the emulation window becoming completely unresponsive). 7365, however, has this much more frequent occurrence where I try to frame advance, and it gets stuck temporarily without crashing.
Sometimes waiting a few seconds and then advancing twice gets it unstuck. Other times, I must click the window close button on the emulation window and then select No to the prompt to fix it (at that point it may or may not unpause emulation by itself).
Oh wait, seems like there might be two separate issues here: (1) hanging on frame advance, and (2) unpausing by itself. OP mentions both, and that linked issue covers only (2).
But to be clear, I've had (1) happen without (2). My experience is also without input recording; I'm just frame advancing to test stuff.
To me (2) happens rather often, but (1) doesn´t independent of input recording or not. Also surprisingly dolphin didn´t crash for me so far. ( using version 4.0-7322)
When (2) happens, it also happens again after 1-2 frame advances very often.
I hope this gets fixed soon, so I can start my new GX TAS.
