The timesaves come from a more extensive use of the flap trick to fall faster, and a few skips and optimizations.
The flap trick is done by flapping, by tapping A, just as you start falling, as a rule of thumb, the frame to flap is two frames before the first frame you can start dive bombing. This trick saves about 2 frames per fall, where fall speed matters, and can be seen specially on room 1 of Stage 3, where this trick is used on each individual fall when breaking the blocks.
Optimizations
- In room 1 of Stage 1, I get a mouse to be at the right position and time to dive bomb it from below, which is faster than first jumping on the platform to the right.
- At the end of Stage 2, I dive bomb from below a snail to climb in a more direct path to the last ballon.
- In room 1 of Stage 4, after doing room 2, I go past a ballon, this is because you'll have to wait there anyway after doing room 3
- In room 3 of Stage 4, I manage to get the platform to appear earlier with different movement and waiting in a different spot
- In room 5 of Stage 4, I dive bomb the mine, wich lets you go in a more direct path to the button
- In room 2 of Stage 5, I get one mine that blocks your path to get on screen earlier, since things offscreen are slower
- In the last bossfight, I kill the boss closer to the center so when killed it travels less distance
RNG
Unfortunately, due to some RNG I wasn't able to fix, there's a small timeloss of about 10 frames on room 1 of Stage 4, after room 3.
One mouse doesn't wait, so its on the wrong spot, forcing me to dive bomb, wich since it has a set height it gives you, higher than a normal jump, I lose some frames falling to then be able to jump again.
nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: Well, this is a really nice improvement. Nice to see mechanics getting exploited even further. In regards to the loss of frames, over an RNG difference...these things happen. I can think of a two games I've TASed where improvement TASes were created and some spots just won't cooperate as before. Its unfortunate, but very understandable and quite fine in this case. Great work.
