Personally, I would vote for calling them "kalkkuna", in reference to the magnificent beasts that renowned for their pride, speed, and cunning: turkeys.
(PS: I'm not sure if the word I chose can actually be used to mean a living turkey, or it's just the meat.)(PPS: I secretly hope it's just the meat)
How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks.
In other words, it'll train us to only talk about other people's things and thinging won't be about competition but entertainment! Brilliant!
"Dude, look at this guy's thing?" "Why" "It's, like, huge, man." "How big?" "169332" "millimeters?!?!?" "no, 169332 things." "Oh... is this those game things again?"

Dude, but it can be confused with other people's genitals! We can't afford such a thing.

Seriously: "We do not only/always aim for speed, but also for entertainment" is a rather poor argument for not using the word "speed".
Regular speedruns aim for entertainment too. They are not purely dry and technical (though human) achievements of raw speed (as well as a human can do) without any emotion nor entertainment aim. Instead, whenever it is possible most speedruns try to do something funny and entertaining.
This is especially true when there's a long wait in the game. A "purely speed-oriented" run would just boringly and technically wait the whole time in the most optimal position until it's possible to continue. However, speedrunners try to do something entertaining instead. A very good example happens in the QdQwav run in one of the episode final levels where the floor lowers for almost a minute. The runner writes through the msg system of the game "I have practiced this move", then makes a slow camera movement and then writes "Did you like it?". A rather dumb joke, but demonstrates my point.
Yet they are still called "speedruns", not "entertainment runs" or whatever. I see no problem whatsoever in keeping the word "speed" in tool-assisted runs.
Besides, 99.9% of tool-assisted runs *do* aim at speed as their main goal. From all the 300+ published movies, how many can you list which do not?

I think the point was that his magic movement made the box of ammo disappear.
Ok well, after reading some of this... I would like to state for the record that i pronounce "TAS" as "Tass or Taz" as Phil pointed out. Also, Nate sounds awful. "Oh, Im NATEing". sound like you are "Mateing" with your wife or someone else. "Oh, Im TASing" sound like you are "TASKing" which you actually are.
"Tool-Assisted-Speedruns" like someone said, 99.9% of the runs on site have a top goal, make the runs Length a Minimum. Then the second goal is entertainment (unless its like, JXQ's Fluteless run) then entertainment is the THIRD goal. Another example is JXQ's SDW 100%(I think thats what its called). he aimed for speed while getting 100%(i think).
When runs on the site are getting improved by 30 frames(SMB2) and 19 frames(SMB2) and 6 frames(Atlantis no Nazo) and then 4 frames(SMB1 I beleive) then the site is aimed for speed. The most Popular runs on the site are Zelda, Mario, and Megaman. All three of these runs aim for speed.
So, I say stick with "TAS" or... go back to the old fashion term "Fast-Throughs"
Maybe we could call them Khans, so that whenever console conservatives talk about us in righteous indignation, we get to hear them say KHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!
i like TAS cause it helped me remember a formula in chemistry
∆G = ∆H - T∆S (∆ looks like A to me.. )
what does NATE help me remember? so yeah.. there you have it, TAS wins
