I spoke briefly with a developer from team dolphin and this is what he had to say about the matter:
<AngerFist> random question to anyone who knows: it appears that dolphin doesn't emulate "loading" time. this is apparent in games like metroid prime and resident evil 4. can someone confirm this?
<no_cluez> AngerFist: yeah.
<no_cluez> AngerFist: there's that "speedup disc transfer " setting in the iso properties, it kinda emulates it... but not accurately
<AngerFist> okay
<AngerFist> do you reckon it's an easy fix to emulate the load times?
<no_cluez> no
Edit: More info below
<no_cluez> sure we know the ideal transfer rate... but that doesnt equal the actual read data
<shuffle2> the problem is that audio transfers compete with data transfers
<AngerFist> what do you mean by compete
<shuffle2> the drive buffers audio and other data seperately, and gives preference to audio data
<shuffle2> so if you have a game streaming a lot of audio
<shuffle2> other data rate will go down
Edit 2:
<AngerFist> hmm ok
<AngerFist> now i can begin to understand why no_cluez said it would not be easy fixing this.
<no_cluez> ;)
<SS> There is a game with a loading bar which normally loads slowly, when I enable speed up disc transfer, the bar is done in less than a second.
<SS> Makes sense.
<shuffle2> it's not impossible, just requires someone to cook up a test for real hw :p
<AngerFist> i *might* find someone to do that.
<AngerFist> if i could find someone, would you be willing to investigate shuffle&no_cluez?
<shuffle2> sure, no promises since i am teh busy recently
<shuffle2> i hear no_cluez has tons of free time and doesn't know what to do with it
<no_cluez> AngerFist: sure, if I actually had a clue.. :P
<no_cluez> shuffle2: actually I only have 3 weeks of free time left :/
<shuffle2> well that is better than 0!
So if anyone could help them with what shuffle2 asked for, we could hopefully a.s.a.p. put an end to the no loading time error.

I would travel to Quebec and shake your hand immensely if you would work on this. Speaking of this game, no offense to the author of this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnIa2iHW6o0 but that's not exactly how I imagined a tas of Metroid Prime should look. He uses for some reason (I don't understand much what he is saying by reading his description) the Pal version, which is obviously something we wont do and makes a few dash errors and whatnot. Regardless of that, it's a nice beginning. Something for you Wak and others to compare with the future wip :)
Edit: and Miles aims to smash all damn speedrun records of Metroid Prime 1-3. I can sense his intentions ^_^ And why wouldn't he? He is outdoing himself and other speedrunners of said games.

Yeah I think this hack and perhaps more importantly the runs itself is good enough to publish this baby. I actually want to see more of it. Ala 100% style :) Yes vote.

The opening doors and walking down/up on stairs sequence is extremely annoying... I hope the final encode removes them because in my opinion, it really harms the entertainment of the run.

Does anyone know why Dolphin page looks like this: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/list It used to list chronologically order the revisions, but now I don't understand much why it looks like that.

Go for it Tiger :) I started off being a thorough taser. I remember beating Bisqbot after 13-14 hours of tasing by trial and error(ing) the shit out of Mega Man 1. In the end, I wholeheartedly *tried* my best being thorough as possible and at the same time completing a run fast as possible. I remember adelikat and I finished Mega Man 6 within a month and still managed to shave off a lot of seconds from that time the published run. I did not know of these shortcuts and powers you are referring to. I hope you will tas this lovely game.
Edit: Why not use this existing thread instead? http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5765

I was thoroughly impressed by this run. Some of the maneuvers were absolutely crazy! Some areas looked way nicer than Super Metroid. Congratulations to the author and here is a big yes vote.

Thanks Lex but I am not sure I would classify that as high quality encode. The sound is great but graphic-wise, it appears to me that the colors aren't vivid enough. And I dislike the ratio (yes, you explained how one can get rid of it but I prefer it a bit more stretched).

Generally speaking, why does my ears always bleed a bit when I download unknown (to me at least) Sega games? The music really kills my ears. Just me? :)

Magnificent, true beauty, glitchy, speedy.. I am in love with this run. So honored and thankful the long curse is finally gone. The old run has been improved after so long. Congratulations all participants and contributors! I think Phil would've been proud. I certainly would not mind at all if this run would get a star. I definitely think it has it all. A lot of jaw-dropping moments, we all know which ones I am talking about :) Stand tall gentlemen, because today, you all have truly become legendary and victorious. I humbly voted yes. My two remaining tasing dreams left: Final Fight (preferably the arcade version) and The Guardian Legend for nes, only then can uncly Fisty rest in peace :)

Ah ok. As always, I am greatly enjoying watching every single one of your wips. What I am about to tell you ain't no bullshit but one of tasing dreams is for someone to improve the current published run, which you two are doing a splendid job. I really loved how you managed to find a trick of your own when you jumped over that block in 9-1. Knowing how fast and thorough you seem to work, I expect this to be finished within a month or so. Cheers fellas!
