The leaning pack part does not matter I think. The only thing that I was not doing is landing on one wheel. Let me see how that works. Edit: Look at this: www.geocities.com/highsummonerbob/excitebike.zip Copy it into your adress bar, don't click on it. I put this together in five minutes using your method, but I still get a bad time. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

What was I missing? You pull back before jumps, lean forward in the air, press the turbo button while on the ground, nothing in the air, hit every pad thing, what else?

Ill just wait until a final version comes out. The one currently out does not work for me. When I load the game, it goes VERY slow, and I can barely move the mouse. When I put it on 999% it just crashes, even though I have a very good machine. Oh well.

Bisqwit, have you even watched that ice climbers movie? Its impressive that he did it with only 50ish rerecords, but that movie is no where near close to being perfect.

Not exactly the same, but I though that I would use the topic. I got firefox recently (its great) The only thing that I am wondering is if there is a way where you can specify where you want to save something each time you download something. It always saves to my desktop and its kind of annoying. Its the windows version if that matters.

I stopped because I thought it was boring. That movie is not complete. If you really want me though i could finish it.

8 minutes into the game >_< It is SO boring to level up in the game my way. Since metal slimes appear so infrequently, I just walk around randomly trying to try and find one. Once I do find one, I need to try pressing the a button at every point until I find one that gets a critical hit. Then, I do it all over again. So, after 8 minutes, i am at level 9. I think that if i get up one more level, buy a sword, then get two critical hits against the boss gaurding the loto armor, I can kill him. Then, it should be easy after that. Right now, im not doing the real run of the game. Im not being picky on how long it takes me to kill enemies or find them. I'm gonig to do a casual speed run first just to make sure that my route works. I don't want to spend 10 hours leveling up as fast as possible only to find out after anothr 5 hours that I was trying to do something illegal. The reason why I am not so far is because of boringness I mentioned. I put it off for a while. I'll probably continue it after I am done with bubble bobble, which will probably be at the end of the month.

Is the nes version as long as the arcade one? Because the arcade one is 150 levels...

Alright. At level 40, I get the rest of the water bubbles to get the umbrella(no water bubbles appear between 20 and 40 o_O). However, it doesn't appear until level 42(its because i got a lot of lightning bubbles so it gets delayed a level) When I get it, it only warps me to level 47, not 49. I did it again and got a lot over 25, but still the same. Is this a result of it being delayed a level, or something else?

You might have noticed this before. Its a glitch in some nes games. I've noticed it in bubble bobble and mighty bomb jack. In games where you start the level in the air, if you press the jump button repeatadly before you can move(it helps to use autofire. If it doesn't work, load and start pressing it at a different time. I think that you just have to press it at the moment that you can start moving, not sure though). You should jump instead of falling down. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a glitch in all nes games where you start in the air?

I hope that you explained that it was done with rerecording, or all that the topic on slashdot is going to be about is "cheating" on games and whether it is okay.

Bisqwit: Do I have to get the best ending? If not, I can skip the last 12 levels not including the boss.

I'm pretty sure it does. Otherwise, I don't see how it would work.

After level 20, I'm about 35 seconds ahead. No warps used yet. Running shoes gotten on level 14. Red candy on level 4. 14 water bubbles popped. If an umbrella, appears, should I skip it to get a better one later on?

The only really popular nes one that I've ever heard of is excitebike, and I tried that and it didn't work very well. There aren't really any for the nes that you could do a speed run for. There might be though, but I don't know of any.

Play the movie. When it gets to the part right before you die, save it, then load it before the movie finishes

Did you not record at all, or did you just forget to record in the middle of the game? If you did not record at all, you will have to start over. If you stopped in the middle, you can continue from there.
