I couldn't find the location in Bible that tells this, but I seem to remember something mentioning that in Heaven, there is no difference between a man and a woman.
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female – for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. 3:29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise. Also Luke 20:34 So Jesus said to them, “The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. 20:35 But those who are regarded as worthy to share in that age and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. 20:36 In fact, they can no longer die, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, since they are sons of the resurrection. (and that second passage has parallels in Matthew and Mark) So both Paul and the author of Mark agree with that view, and probably some passages I don't have memorised. Mmmmh, I kind of want to answer those religious questions but this is Bisqwit's thread. Oh well.

Thanks very much for taking the time to answer ^^ I've always been told great things about Go. I was raised as a traditional gamer so I've played quite a wide variety of games but I never learned Go, and it always seemed to be very hard to get from "I know the rules" to "I know how to play" so I never really bothered to attend Go clubs or try to learn with friends. Maybe with that inspiration I'll try the local Go club.

Dear Fabian, I pronounce and spell the word "weapontry" with a t, and I have done this all my life. It was recently brought to my attention that this is an incorrect spelling. Where did that "t" come from and why do I say it? Should I keep saying it or make a conscious effort to remember the correct pronunciation each time I use the word? More seriously, how close are your close friends? Do you have a single best friend, or do you have a group of close friends that are about equally close? Do you feel you can talk about anything with those people or do you tend to keep some things to yourself?

Dear Bisqwit, What is the history of your interest in Go? How did you come to it and what are your opinions on it? Are you interested in any other traditonal (ie, tabletop) games?

Samurai Goroh and I are working on a soft subtitle track for use with the AVI. There's no hard subtitles in the AVI other than the usual branding near the beginning. Because Gencon is happening in a few hours I'm going to be gone from internet and sanity until like Monday but after that I'll be working on the subs pretty much constantly until they're done.

I can make some subtitles for this run that explain major events, boss strategies, generally what's going on, and also random other things about the game. More like a commentary track in text. If you want that kind of thing I'll work on it starting tomorrow.

One thing I always hated about Picross is the additon of "errors".
Picross DS, like Mario's Picross and other Nintendo Picross games, only increases your time when you make mistakes, and all that affects is if you spend more than an hour on a single puzzle it doesn't count towards unlocking other puzzle packs. And that's only in Normal mode - Free mode doesn't tell you if you make a mistake.

Well I made the topic because I couldn't beat those two puzzles but it's really for Picross DS and other Nonogram games so yeah it's about this kind of puzzle in general

As seems to be usual here, I only start topics when I find some aweosme game to pimp out. This time, my Picross addiction finally made international! Picross DS, the latest Picross game, has been released in North America and Europe in addition to the usual Japan. Picross puzzles, also known as Nonograms, are binary-determination logic puzzles; you are given a finite grid with known size and must determine whether each individual cell is "on" or "off" using the given clues. Clues take the form of numbers on each column and row telling how many "on" cells are touching in that column/row before blank spaces or puzzle boundaries surround them - often there will be multiple numbers which refer to multiple groups, separated by one or more "off" cells. Here's an example:
    1 1
    1 1 1
  5 1 1 1 0
4
1
3
1
4
The solution is
    1 1
    1 1 1
  5 1 1 1 0
4 XXXXXXXX
1 XX
3 XXXXXX
1 XX
4 XXXXXXXX
Anyway, Picross DS has 300+ of these, mostly 15x15 and 20x20 ones but also some 10x10, and you can make your own puzzles and upload them to the 'net as well. Anyway,,,, I've completed the first 7 puzzle packs in Normal mode (packs are 15 puzzles each) but I had to guess on two of them, puzzles 4-O and 7-A. All the Normal-mode puzzles are supposed to be logically completable without testing theories in advance (a feature allowed in Free mode) but I can't find a way to progress past the first few steps in either puzzle using the given information. Here's puzzle 4-O for you. Solve it if you can, and if you can get more "on" cells filled than the two obvious columns, -please- tell me how you did it! I'll upload 7-A in a few days unless someone beats me to it. It's a 20x20. EDIT: I seem to have gotten better since I last tried 4-O because shortly after posting this I found how to progress. It's a little tricky but it's possible. Now if only I could find the trick for 7-A... If anyone's trying to solve 4-O here and wants a hint, here's the first bit of a solution that gets past the initial "what do I do now?" phase. EDIT 2: OK, so I'm just really bad at picross? Even though I beat Nintendo Power packs like 1-4 a long time ago. Because I played 7-A again, and it took about 53 minutes but I got through with 0 errors. So it's solvable, just hard. Anyway, Picross is a fun time.

Try watching the run of a game you've played a lot or know pretty well - you should be pleasantly surprised. Also, check out the reccomended movies for people who aren't into the hobby as heavily as some of us.

There are a lot of good Touhou videos around, but all that I know of use the games' own replay functions so you'll need a copy of the game,,,,

With a hint from Baxter I got through level 35, my first game over,,, but now I'm stuck at 40, my second. I can get through three of the little tiny holes, but... eh, if the rest is more like this I'm done.

Aww, I'm number 36... ;_; I actually don't remember why I came here.. my first introduction to TASing was some Japanese site with superplay videos for VirtuaNES. I guess I came from google searches after that?

EDIT: The reason the names are present is that those are the Good names. There's a series of ROM managing software that automatically renames files to match the universal identifier of that ROM.

The "most popular belief" about this legal issue is that it's legal to download a ROM, as long as you own the real game. Dumping them yourself or downloading it would be just as (il)legal, considering you do have the real game.
The "most popular belief" is also explicitly wrong, at least in the US, where you can't download a copy without express permission from the copyright holder but you can not only make backup copies but also make the game usable on unintended platforms in any way you wish (which would include dumping it and using an emulator).

You can also try using the "context menu" button on your keyboard. It's between control and alt (assuming you're in the US and aren't on a Mac). (edit: to use the context menu key, click what you want to right-click, but don't release the click, then hit the context menu key, mouse down to your selection, and release) Anyway, Bittorrent is just a special kind of download manager that gives back as much as it gets (so you aren't draining the bandwidth of free hobbyist sites and costing them tons of money). It doesn't take longer and isn't harder to use than normal web browsing.

"Gross!" "You'd have to be an elementary school kid to justify that!" "Ahahahahaha") Yes, I know I posted this exact post before. Also I'm not intending to make fun of Maur's accomplishment since it's something I haven't done myself (though I usually play on Normal or Hard and just end up not able to kill the last boss even after 3 credits on most Touhou games). It was just incredibly appropriate since it was someone admitting to playing a Touhou game on easy....

I think I like Perfect Cherry Blossom better than Imperishable Night but they're both really super fun. Sometimes I want to relax when I play though, so I'm looking forward to Touhou 10 which from the demo seems to simplify the game quite a lot (without reducing the complexity of the bullet patterns of course). EDIT: Also, I'm not too sure what tool assistance would add. Already we have human performances of these Touhou games that do amazing things like perfect graze complicated boss patterns, never drop a score panel, never die, etc. TASing one would just be squeezing out a few more million points, it probably wouldn't be distinguishable from high-level human play.

This is probably true for things like screen captures, sound recordings, and other things that are considered fair use in other countries, but it is also much, much more leniant than, for example, US law, with regards to parody and fanworks.

Boco: Is juggling considered cheating?
Well, I don't juggle (though I'm not good at the game) and there's a vocal minority on the Desktop TD forum that doesn't, which is why one of the challenge modes is "no selling", but I really think the level 100 challenge (and the frosts + squirts only challenge) was made with juggling in mind because it really is impossible otherwise.

If it's the same 100-level challenge as the one in Desktop TD 1.2, I don't think anyone beat it (without juggling - with juggling it's just a matter of patience and having enough lives left at the end to drop the flying bosses). The record was in the 90s though. I'm sure people at the forums there know better than me though.

My point was to test how many DCAs you need to fend off successfully the aerial attacks. The answer is more than 27.
The best defense against flyers is actually Torrent towers (which I guess would be plasma? in this version), not Dart towers. Also keep in mind that you can and should use Frost towers to slow down the flyers and keep them in range longer.

Why do I need to post a link to a game that's linked to by the game you posted and also linked in the first reply to your post?
