Good run, Spikestuff! I never thought this game could be played this fast. This could make it to Moons. Yes vote! Also, that ad was pretty epic.

Thanks for the encode, Samsara! This was actually more entertaining than the any% improvement. I liked all the balloon and treasure optimizations. Yes vote from me.

Pretty nice! Short enough to stay entertaining throughout. And I still like that music. Yes vote!

I guess my question is: Is it ok to delay and take no action, to have an overall savings in frames?
Yes. As long as there is a net gain of frames, then it's entirely valid and is sometimes used in luck manipulation and lag reduction to save time overall.

Disable DCT decimation (--no-dct-decimate).
That did the trick, thank you! I never would have known what that was called. Weatherton, I've read that YouTube does its own reconversion (when it "processes" your video); perhaps it does DCT Decimation as part of that. Otherwise, make sure your Lagarith's "Enable Null Frames" box is unchecked, having that checked caused me a similar issue with lossless Dolphin dumps and certain programs.

I wasn't able to find a solution for this elsewhere: How can I encode with x264 (i.e. in HandBrake) and have it keep frames of solid black or white color? These appear fairly often in TASes, however in my experience, the codec will replace them with a freeze frame of the last non-solid color frame. This usually looks strange and not fully accurate to the source. A recent example is Weatherton's MK64 encode, where the lack of fully black frames is seen as early as 12 seconds in. Notice how the words "Player Select" stay on screen for a while instead of going black right away, and later how the colored boxes at 1:11 never fully leave the screen. I don't believe this happens in BizHawk or on console.

That was an interesting and even funny level! I liked how you ran on and grappled a bunch of objects that you shouldn't have been able to.

That's just fine. The final result will be really cool and entertaining. Good luck on the cleaning up!

Does it still freeze if you use the mGBA core instead? You can activate it by checking the box at Config > Cores > GBA with mGBA. Note that your movie file might not update to the new core, and you might have to start a new recording.

Have you been able to make any more progress, MrGymnast86? All of your WIPs have been amazing so far.

Very nice run. I'm glad Jok-R's run was helpful to you in making this one. He and I were going to work on improving his movie but nothing came of it. Is the bonus point payout for a 0% hit rate an underflow bug? It's hard to imagine they would make the player sit there for 14 minutes as it counts down.

Very good run, TASeditor! Lots of lag reduction and cool new tricks over the previous run. Every level and boss fight was entertaining too, as you demonstrated with your WIPs. Yes vote!

Incredible TAS, Weatherton! You put a ton of work into this over a long period of time, and it shows! The courses are done faster than ever before and with style and mind-blowing novel strategies. I also really liked the submission text. It answered every question I had and was an interesting read in general. Big Yes vote! And congrats on getting accepted to Stars, you earned it.

You've finally made Moat Door Early a reality, and it looks amazing! The authors' determination to make the run playable and optimized on console is commendable as well. Obvious Yes vote.

I agree with scrimpeh, all the new tricks and glitches made this run even more entertaining than your WIPs. Yes vote! Of your screenshot suggestions, I like frame 41281 the best. It shows off one of the Storm Puff glitches (Shop glitch) while not looking as "busy" as the cutscene skip one.

That jumping glitch sure makes the game more entertaining, and quite funny. Here's an encode of that WIP: Link to video This is only the first mystery, right? If so, I wouldn't mind seeing more levels glitched like this.

Not very entertaining, but the solution was interesting, especially when the enemies started going really fast near the end. Also liked how you ended input early, and the game is a good piece of history. Voting No.

I learned about how to record videos and youtube upload standards but how do I edit my own videos to meet those standards so that it doesn't turn out blurry? I mostly use Windows Movie Maker and Virtualdub to edit them but I want to know how can edit the videos to meet Youtube requirements? I also have converters so I can convert the videos but is that recommended?
You can try upscaling them with VirtualDub's resize filter, found through Video>Filters>resize. I've found Nearest Neighbor to be best for 2D games and vector graphics, and Lanczos to be best for 3D games and raster graphics, including camera/camcorder video.
