OK, here are some screenshots. Sorry it took so long to upload them. I was having computer problems. The first screenshot shows the corner where the hand took me away. Actually, I just found out that if you Moon Jump anywhere against the ceiling for 5 seconds, the hand will take you away. We might be able to use this, if we could get the Bubble Bowl Boost to work and move through the door (meaning we would need a 16-spatula run [like SM64!]). The second screenshot shows where the hand will put you no matter where you "die". We could try testing BBB there, though COEL625 (who discovered the glitch) doesn't think we would be able to go through the door.

The hand places you in front of the doors that you used to enter the Chum Bucket. So you're next to the "Specials" sign, facing the 75 spatula door. I can post a picture if my description wasn't clear enough. I didn't test BBB on it, because I figured it was impossible to get to legitimately.

Let me in turn thank you for your feedback in the thread for many movies I've judged as of late.
Oh, you're welcome. I try to watch and comment on all of the movies in the Workbench, but I usually don't have time to watch them all before they're accepted.

you know the video of it being done illegitimately? yeah I could really use that moon jump code to test a few things for the "two spatula" route, would anyone happen to know what it is?
It's been in the description of my "illegitimate" video for months. Just copy it from there. Also, I tested the route and found a corner of the ceiling and wall of the Chum Bucket where the hand will pull you away, but you can only get there by Moon Jumping.

[ASIA] and [NOCD] don't belong in the game name. You probably meant to put them in the ROM name. Anyway, I'll wait for an encode to watch.

So should the "Do not TAS using official builds" thread be re-titled "Do not TAS using official builds before 3.0-678" now?

I'm having the same problem. I don't know why it's working for nitrogenesis and not us.

I really like your judging decision, Nach. You explained the situation well and gave clear reasons for the double obsoletion.

Sadly, no. School is still taking all my time away. However, summer is coming soon, so I will have much more time to work on the run. I'm at the area after Petalburg now, working on hitting the ? box without touching the Spiked Goomba guarding it.

COEL625 managed to perform jlun2's glitch to end the final boss battle early! Here's the first video of it being legitimately done!

Nice improvement, KFCMARIO. Yes vote. This run appears to have been made on version 1.1 of the game, but it syncs on both 1.0 and 1.1. The ROM name should be changed to "Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (V1.1) (U) [C][!].gbc".

It's not like he's hopeless, YoungJ. He can always improve if someone takes the time to teach him about optimizing his TASes. Poptart, I don't think you should continue TASing Donkey Kong. The currently published run is extremely optimized, as is the last run before the ladder glitch was discovered. I encourage you to try a different game though. Just post your WIP in the game's thread and we will help you optimize it so you can submit it and get it published.

Why would a SMB3 "minimum buttons pressed" run obsolete the SMB "walkathon" run? I don't think your copied-and-pasted comment applies to this submission.

I agree with you. I have played a small number of the games published on this site, yet I have watched and voted on over half of them because I enjoy watching TASes, and I am overall only slightly less entertained when I watch runs of games I haven't played as I am when I watch runs of games I have played. Grassini, how many members do you think have played this game before? Probably very few. This run and many others would sit in the Workbench forever if such a ridiculously arbitrary requirement was expected of us.

First of all, I saved 298 frames (almost five seconds) from the beginning to the end of the first level. It's easy to optimize this game; I made this in 20-30 minutes and I don't think I can improve it. Also, all of the first level's 47 lag frames from the level are gone in VBA24-M (more accurate emulation makes this level lag-free), and I suggest you restart your run on VBA24-svn422 and optimize everything.

which level are you refferingto?
The first one where you can use all four characters, for one. You change to Alex to jump when it looks like you can just use Marty. Also, disregard my advice about jumping. No matter how long you hold A, you always jump the same height.

The game doesn't allow you to use Marty more? He seems to be the fastest, so it would really speed up the levels if you could. Also, you don't need to jump the highest you can every time. It should be faster if you jump lower (if this game's jumping is anything like Operation Penguin's).

I agree with Riddim and Mr. Kelly R. Flewin. This is another terrible pirate game, and it doesn't make for a good TAS. Also, the music and sound effects really annoyed me and I watched the second half of the movie with the audio muted. In short: Bad game choice, No vote.

Though I'm not sure how I feel about this being the only current published Chrono Trigger run on the site (all others would be obsoleted). Could this could be published as a "glitched" category and the long any% run could be published again?
That's ridiculous! The previous run uses the same type of memory corruption as this one. There is no logical reason why this would be in a "glitched" category and not that one.
The currently published run is in the exact same category as this run, Glitcher. You just said yourself that they use the same glitch, so like I said, this run would obsolete the currently published "glitched" run. If you were confused by the phrase "long any%", I was definitely talking about the original 4+ hour run (which contains no save corruption).

A little repetitive, but entertaining nonetheless. I could tell you were warping because your character disappeared from the map at the level introduction screen and the music and background were different for only those two levels. Yes vote.

If you're starting over, I would recommend VBA24-M. There's less lag (due to more accurate emulation) so your TAS would be faster.

The new route looks awesome! No killing bugs means no collecting tears either, so this route already cuts out one of the least entertaining parts of the real time speedrun! Great job planning the route and I'm looking forward to your WIPs.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door! What do I win? Seriously, though, you can just right-click those in Dolphin and go to the Info tab. It should tell you the name of all of those games. I just know TTYD's code because I've opened it so many times in Dolphin.

I'm going to paraphrase my post from the NES Wishlist, so I kind of hope the topics don't get merged (then it would be a double suggestion). Famicom Grand Prix - F1 Race. It's a racing game with a top-down view and tire and brake "health" meters that eventually run out and make it very hard to brake and steer unless you come in for a pit stop. Of course, a TAS could race so fast that the meters never run out, or steer successfully even with the spent tires. I'm not sure if it would make an interesting run, but it's hard to control in real time and I'd like to see the masterful and precise control a TAS could show.
