Also, playback with read only will never sync, so checking desyncs requires playing it from the start.
I just want to clarify that rog means read only playback for Wii movies. Read-only playback for GameCube .dtms works perfectly now, as long as you use the recommended settings.

Also, who's going to do the console verification?

Wow, the trick starting at 21:30 in the encode is amazing
I agree. Also, was this trick done to skip a boss battle? That's what it looks like, but I can't be sure. Anyway, well optimized and entertaining run. Congratulations on finishing another great N64 TAS, Nahoc! Yes vote.

I think this should be tried in other games and other consoles, and if it don't make it to publication, it should invent a new 'Minimum Presses' forum and entire set of new movies... =D
There are some "Minimum Presses" and "Minimum Holds" TASes on Brandon's page here, and there's also the main Minimal Presses thread here.

I haven't played this game, and I don't completely understand what's going on in this run. Could you explain a little more about what happens in each part of the run? I haven't finished watching the encode, but I like the battles so far.

Did Dacicus end up deciding to leave? Last I talked to him was two days ago on IRC and he said he was "seriously considering" leaving. I agree that he's a valuable member. He's always volunteering his time to help the site - publishing, encoding, making runs, and participating in discussions. It would be a shame to see him resign over this controversial issue.

Can somebody provide a download for r6218? I need to do some testing on that revision but mediafire deleted all the old revisions it seems.
It looks to me like they're still there. You just need to copy the link in the Dolphin archive, remove everything except the MediaFire link, and paste that into your address bar. Using this method, I found that the original files are still there: r6218 32-bit r6218 64-bit

Nice luck manipulation. I don't see why this shouldn't be published. Yes vote.

In addition to that, apparently the PC and console versions have different plots so it wouldn't even be the same game that CoolKirby remembers.
I think this is the case for a lot of Nickelodeon's games. The Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom games have many differences between the console versions and PC version.

I think that's supposed to be symbolic, not to be taken literally.
That would make more sense. I think I might understand now. The video gave uploading someone's content a generally negative connotation, so people will be afraid of doing it. The power YouTube has to penalize the user is limited, but the viewer doesn't have to know that. The viewer just needs to have it in his or her mind that uploading another person's content is "bad".

OK, so I unwittingly used a trope. I'm not debating anything, just expressing my opinion. What do you want me to say instead, "and that's just sick"?

Also at the form page you can see the only realistic penalty for false personal information:

Their implications that something worse can happen if you don't provide truthful information makes me think of one part of YouTube's infamous Copyright School video. It talks about what happens if a user consistently uploads another person's content without that person's permission. Then the narrator says something like "If you do this, bad things will happen" and the video shows a computer (automatically) shutting down. There is no way Google/YouTube can legally send a command to shut down a person's computer, or destroy the computer's data. All YouTube is doing is giving those who watch the video irrational fear to convince people to do what they say, and that's just terrible.

I would love to see a SMB3 MP TAS using either emulator. Good luck, Brandon!

Maybe lsnes and its fancy subframe advance feature can improve this. (This post is half-serious. It would be cool if this feature could be used to improve runs like this one that can't seem to be improved. Unless, of course, I'm missing the point of subframe advance...)

Yeah, I thought it was a problem with my computer. It appeared you were playing back the song and adding notes (percussion?) to it, but there was no sound. Good song, though. It was worth the audio-less wait.

Thanks for the encode, Patryk1023! I thought this was pretty impressive, and a good idea. It reminds me of Brandon's Minimum Presses TASes. I don't know what to vote.

It's nice to see this game played the way it's supposed to be, but it isn't entertaining enough to obsolete the hilarious published run.

This show was better anyway. This makes me wonder if any actual games based on Nicktoons would make good TASes. I had a computer game as a kid called Fairly OddParents: Breakin' Da Rules. I remember some levels were hard, probably due to fake difficulty. If the game was available for platforms other than PC, it might be nice to see a TAS of it or other Nicktoons games.

They didn't think anyone would 100% Color A Dinosaur? Well, I guess we showed them. I'm also waiting for an encode. This will be good.

Interesting crash. I was confused until I read your explanation. I wouldn't have guessed the problem was lag, what with so few sprites on screen. Also, the repeating audio sounds like the sound effect when Kirby has one health point left/low health.

I am curious though, are there many other games where the credits can be accessed via debug mode? I don't know of all that many games where the debug mode can be accessed in general. This just seemed like a very rare case so I figured I'd share.
You mean a debug mode that the game allows you to use, or one that's hidden away in the code? EarthBound for SNES has a debug mode that can be accessed using either a Game Genie code or a Japanese version-only glitch. It lets you set the area of the game, and it allows you to warp to the credits.

Hold on, hold on, hold on. You voted down my Carmen Sandiego run, which did the exact same thing. Only mine was clearly better because it did it 80 times.
I was kidding. This is obviously an April Fool's submission. Your movie was very technically impressive, but I found it quite boring. It's too repetitive, like you said, the same thing 80 times. Your Beetle Mania TAS is very technically impressive too, but the result is watching similar combos for around 45 minutes. It's great you wrote a bot that can complete an NES game (and an SNES minigame), but I don't think those runs should be published to a site that hosts entertaining TASes because they're not entertaining.
