... Any current-generation home console game will run slowly on a computer without a powerful processor. I have no idea if that's true about the GameCube and Wii, but it's the same problem with emulating those consoles at full speed as it would be with the PS2/PS3 and Xbox/Xbox 360.

Do note however that many games cannot possibly be ran at full speed while tasing, on any consumer cpu.
Of course, just not Super Mario Sunshine, the game he wants to run at full speed.

Like adelikat said, it's emulating the powerful GameCube and Wii consoles. Your computer will need a lot of processing power (a faster prcoessor) to carry out all of the calculations the game sends it. According to the Dolphin Compatibility List, a lot of testers who use an Intel Core-i7 processor report 100% on most games, so I would recommend that processor if you're considering upgrading to a new computer and you want to TAS (or even run) games at full speed.

Thank you for the HD encode, ThatGugaWhoPlay! jlun2, great run, and I vote Yes to this submission as I voted Yes to the 4-frame-slower submission.

Go for it! Show off your vast painting know-how.
Well, I don't think I could draw something like that, but I think it's a good idea for artwork for the emulator. If you're being sarcastic, it went completely over my head. I'm not very good at detecting sarcasm.

Of course there are ladies who post on this site. I can name three off the top of my head (NamiNami, Saethori, and GoddessMaria15, and if I'm wrong about any of these users I apologize and please forgive me), and I'm sure there are more.

Good thing the members here wouldn't speak to a lady that way. About keeping silent, most of the time, a user's gender just doesn't come up in conversation, so you may never know. Sometimes, a female user will refer to herself as "she" or "her", letting people know that the poster is female (in case her post is quoted). Nicklegends, after reading the differences you listed between the Japanese and European ROMs, the Japanese ROM seems better suited for a run. It's also the best version to use because the European version uses PAL timing and there is no US version.

So once we start using that revision for TASing, someone could obsolete my TAS with a movie where a different RNG removes the need for wasting frames and the character moves a little faster?

I think I more prefer the 600% increase I get when running Dolphin in Debug mode.
Can you TAS in this mode? Or is it just for debugging purposes? Also, the comments on the newest "master" branch revision say that the old master revisions were "broken" and they prefer this more accurate, "slower" revision. But isn't the new version rog just compiled accurate, or were those coders specifically talking about the emulation of the game it fixes?

If the rerecord count is hex edited, does Dolphin still increment the number of rerecords normally? Or is it like it is with hex editing movie length, where if the file is extended, Dolphin still only plays back the original length of the movie?

Rog was able to play two of my Paper Mario: TTYD movie files back perfectly, and they were two slightly different lengths. However, it's possible that the randomness in that game may be based on the frame number and not the GameCube clock. I don't know if anyone else has had problems playing someone else's movie on their computer (this could be the first game that's had this problem).

I know you're not completely happy with it, but it's still better than anything I've made in FamiTracker, probably because I haven't found any good tutorials for it. I like the song. Are you using it for a game you're making or just making it because you feel like it?

Nope. The speedrunner on SDA has a great route, so he says, but he's not sharing anything until he finishes his speedrun. The thing is, he's still "perfecting" his route, and still looking for recording equipment, so it may be a while. By the way, I'm not going to be able to TAS this game until I'm done with Paper Mario: TTYD (I hope to finish by the end of the year, as unlikely as it seems). So anyone else who wants to work on TASing this game can go right ahead, but I would wait until the speedrun is done so we can see all of the shortcuts he hasn't told anyone about (and he says he has some).

Great job on the run, GoddessMaria! I'm glad you were motivated to finish the run despite Zeupar not wanting to continue working on it. Yes vote!

This one also gets my attention. It shows what looks like a hard sequence break to perform. This is my second favorite of the ones you posted.

The rom on the gc disk does not allow you to use stick on B, so no.
Sorry but that's just not true. I don't know why this rumor is so percistant. All the roms allow stick on B, even 3DS.
He means if you did what Mitjitsu was saying and extracted the Ocarina of Time ROM from the GC ISO (which is basically an emulator on a disc emulating a slightly different version of the game), stick on B would still not work on that ROM on a Nintendo 64 console. It would work on a real GameCube and on Dolphin because the extended memory of that console and that emulator allows Adult Link to get a Deku Stick on B. The trick would still not be possible using the slightly changed ROM from the GC version on a real N64. I'm glad the route has been mostly decided, and that MrGrunz was able to narrow the questions down to 2 important ones, so the TASers can focus on those and make this great any%!

Did this ever happen? I can't think of a time when the staff has deleted a post without a good reason. Do you have an example?

Adelikat, have you decided whether or not to change the movie file extension in the next release?

I know I probably sound stupid asking this, but what exactly does a Deku Nut do when thrown during RBA? Is it just another item that manipulates memory, like bugs in a bottle?

That looks great! I don't think you'll be able to optimize it any more. It's great you've progressed so far already, and I'll be watching your WIPs (if you decide to post them). I've been wanting to see a Goat Herding TAS for a while, so I'm glad it's finally been done, and with such an entertaining result! I like how the Goat Herding real-time record's "author's comments" contain the text "This is flawless and absolute perfection" when you just beat it by 0.16 second.
