There would still be Japanese text in the run, though, like when entering a new area. So there are parts of gameplay where Japanese text is on the screen, and it can't all be replaced without replacing non-cutscene parts of the run.

I think his question was in response to the people asking for the same run with English text or subtitles as a secondary encode. But, as you said, there's no way the run would sync.

Felipe should definitely have a shot at the "Best TAS Newcomer" award for 2012, if such a thing exists :P
There's a "Rookie of 2012" award. He could win that. I'm looking forward to watching this, but I'll probably vote Yes.

The world record console runners (nero and siglemic) use the japanese version as well.
Why do they use the J ROM if the U ROM is faster (according to Mickey/VIS)?

I agree, and I think he should've won it last year.

Not sure this would really represent the improvements, but I like it anyway. Also, great job saving all those frames! The time is getting so close to sub 5 minutes now!

The publication text for the currently published run says Keen is a boy, while you say Keen is a girl. Not sure which is right. Anyway, nice improvement! Voting Yes.

I tried skipping part of the track in several places in Electron Avenue (including one which would cut every lap in half), but it didn't count as a lap. So unlike Mario Kart games, in this game, the player seems to always be required to drive the whole track for every lap.

I would also like to state that I did not find this entertaining, because I am one of those hypothetical viewers who never had an N64, and whose only experience with Ocarina of Time is from watching the previously published TASes.
You can't say you didn't find this entertaining just because you didn't have an N64. I didn't have an N64 as a kid, and I still found this entertaining. I had never even heard of this game as a kid, and I still enjoyed this run. I'm sure there are some other people that don't vote Yes to this immediately just because of childhood memories too, just because they enjoyed the run. So you can't use this argument.

[1126] SNES Super Mario Kart by cstrakm in 21:27.02 It's in the hacks/demos section because it starts from SRAM to enable 150cc difficulty.

I love how the temporary encode looks! It's so clear, it's like I'm watching it on the emulator! A SM64 improvement always earns my Yes vote. Fantastic job improving this.

It was that way for a while for all games in Dolphin, but it was fixed, at least for GameCube games. Maybe it's just Wii games that have that problem now.

I think you're stuck syncing the audio and video by yourself. The audio dump is the length of your TAS, but the video dump doesn't render all of the loading times, so it's shorter than the audio. What I did for the WIP encode of my TAS is add a third of a second of black screen to my video track for most loading screens (some were longer or shorter), which synced the video with the audio. That's all you can do for now, as a fix does not exist. Publishers and encoders will also have to hand-sync everything.

Signing the treaty isn't enough for it to take effect; the Senate also has to ratify it. I'm hopeful that the extremely negative reception of the bill in other countries will prevent that from happening here.
That's good. Apparently the U.S. signed it already in secret in October 2011, meaning the American people had no say in it. I just hope a big negative response will come from the citizens of America against the bill like what happened with SOPA and PIPA.

I don't see why there are so many Yes votes. This movie breaks the site rules by entering a cheat code, and it isn't going to be accepted.

About that, I just realized that I still need to do 100 laps in Free Run. Since 1 lap takes an average of 5 seconds, would anyone be willing to watch it?
I would watch it.

Btw, I discovered that the game gives a 1 frame window to press start and exit the stage as soon as the race is over, allowing you to skip the replay/results screen and still get the achievements.
That's a great discovery!

Cheat codes aren't exclusively activated though poking values into the RAM using something like a Gameshark, by the way. Like the Konami Code being one well-known example. Particularly PC games have a lot that can be accessed via simply typing things in. A TAS of Warcraft II for DOS could be a lot faster if you used the fast building cheat, for example. Those should be considered invalid too. Just like this trick.
Right. That's what I was referring to.

A post in the SDA forum topic for this game reminded me that skipping Sandy skips learning the Bubble Bowl move, which is necessary to complete the Mermalair and makes a lot of other levels easier. So I guess that strategy is out.

Not only does it use cheat codes, but the two frames that make up this movie have zero entertainment value. Voting No.
