I'm assuming you used TAS Edit, since the rerecord count is 0. I thought this was somewhat entertaining. I liked the music, and the technical quality seems good too (since not many people have even beaten this game). Some parts were pretty boring, but it held my attention. I'm going with Meh.

All our published encodes need that kind of introduction.
It's cool, but I think it would get old if used for every published encode. Very entertaining run, X2poet! Even in slower sections, the characters are still sliding around, riding missiles, and doing all kinds of things. The movie is fast-paced too. This might be as good as your Metal Slug X run! Obvious yes vote.

Well, it's not as bad as it would be if AKheon hadn't TASed the other worlds yet. This way, we can expect a submission of the full run pretty soon.

When criticizing feos's romantic mumblings I may have appeared too cynical, but actually I beleive that TASing process can be fun.
I agree. TASing is especially fun if it's a game you enjoy playing, or have played over and over and know everything about it (for me: Legend of the Lost Spatula and Frogger 2). Then the fun comes not only from pushing yourself to complete a level and then watching it later but also doing what you always wanted to do: beating your old (childhood) records and finishing the game in the fastest time you can (which becomes the world record, which anyone would be happy to hold). Also, I like the fun/rewarding experience list. It's a nice way to categorize this idea.

Thanks! It looks good so far. I'll be anticipating your WIPs of this game after you finish Sonic Colors.

If anyone wants my .dsm, they're free to have it. It goes right into the first level and ends input the frame Kirby is controllable (or rather, the Star). Just leave a reply and I'll upload it. I think I'll run this if no else has after I'm finished with Sonic Colors. There will definitely be a lot of attention needed for route planning with fruit, but I don't think this game would be that hard.
I don't think I'll work on this game, but I would love to see the .dsm.

I enjoyed watching Acmlm's TAS. Awaiting an encode of your run.
Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMr0AYeqD3o&feature=feedu
Nice run! I liked it better than Acmlm's run (maybe there were stylistic choices you made that made it more entertaining). I can see why others didn't think it was entertaining though.

DarkKobold: This run had poor feedback, so I am rejecting. It should be noted that every negative feedback posted was due to the use of death in this run. Given the user feedback from previous Metal Slug submissions, as well as this one, it should be clear that it will be difficult to get a Metal Slug run published that uses death.
OK, I like that phrasing better.

It desyncs on both the v1.0 and v1.1 ROMs. It looks like the input for Yoshi's first long jump is pressed too early.

OoT 3D TASing is here! Watch the any% run: [4668] 3DS The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D by benstephens56 in 23:31.29 --------------------- Original post: This video links to many videos of many glitches in this game. I haven't watched them all yet, but maybe some would be useful in a TAS (like the Superslide), or at least in a playaround.

Well, if it's an emulation problem, then it probably should be fixed. We can't exploit Dolphin's inaccurate timing and call that the fastest time. What if a GCBot was ever made? All the runs that use the inaccurate timing would never sync on console.

Not yet. I know that in old versions of Dolphin, the cutscene in Chapter 2 where Punio froze as he was unlocking the Red key door, but I figured it was fixed judging by other information on that page. If the versions both are able to complete the game, I figure I should restart on 3.0, since the glitched box that appears over the X-Naut shadows should be helpful when I get to the Punie chapter. Thanks for everyone's help!

Though I enjoy the Internet memes that come from that game (such as Weegee), I don't think a TAS of it would be very interesting. As for my wishlist: Wolfenstein 3D Chip's Challenge (unless the Windows version is done instead)

I would think not using frame advance might be acceptable for a run that aims for entertainment, but since he is aiming for fastest time, I wouldn't think this is optimized. I'll vote after I watch (whenever I can).

So do you think I should restart on 3.0 or continue my movie on r7719?

I didn't compare with earlier revisions, but it seems that a few bugs were introduced since r7719. SSBM's How To Play video audio-desyncs, SSBM's intro movie caused annoying audio crackling, Mario sunshine's intro movie froze the game halfway through it, and the water in the file selection isn't accurate at all; the M-graffiti (to enter the levels) is bordered inside a black box.
That is quite a few bugs. I guess they were trying to fix some games, but ended up making other ones worse? I tried moving the savestate fix into my Dolphin 3.0-178 folder and opening the same Paper Mario movie, and savestate-fix Dolphin crashed (both times I tried). When I moved the savestate fix back to my r7719 folder, savestate-fix Dolphin played the movie, but it immediately desynced (starting from "Press any button to continue" not clearing for 4-5 seconds). I'm not sure how different 3.0 is from r7719, but I hope they fix the bugs before making a new Dolphin in the main line.

That one might be part of the 3.0 branch. My movie immediately desyncs when I open it in the savestate fix (Dolphin [SaveStates] 3.0-159). There do seem to be slight graphical improvements in the latest 3.0, like the small glitched box that appears above each invisible X-Naut.

When I try to open my Paper Mario: TTYD movie from r7719 in Dolphin 3.0, it crashes. This makes sense, since they appear to be different branches. So before I do more of the movie, should I restart my TAS on the 3.0 branch or continue my TAS on the r7719 branch to make a publishable movie?

These are the test builds (.exe) linked to on that page. You can unpack them into your main Dolphin 3.0 folder and run them: Windows x86: http://www.mediafire.com/?4ay526a0o5tlroh Windows x64: http://www.mediafire.com/?m0ht9k5cqd4r6yc

Same here. Especially when I saw that you can inhale a bunch of enemies and shoot out a giant star. Everything about this game seems great. It's that game that was going to be released on the GameCube, but got cancelled, and years later, it's finally here! It looks like it would make a good TAS too, especially with 4 players.

Attention all tasers! This may very well be an important commit for us: http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=5d14bb5e70dd1122c36e68ee529fcda8db67243e&name=SaveStates Read the comments, it seems to do wonders. Please test and report back to skid_au at that link.
Judging by the comments, it seems to fix the savestate problem completely. That's awesome! It might completely fix the read-only savestate problem too (which would be GREAT).

I can't see how fairly you concluded that with negative votes fewer than positive ones.
Maybe he meant the people who voted No and commented felt more strongly this should be rejected than the Yes voters who commented and felt this should be published. I thought Yes/No/Meh votes didn't matter anyway. Nothing against DarkKobold, but his response seemed overly dismissive to me. It's like he said, "I'm tired. I'm going to bed. Rejecting."

Do you think you could post the WIP or at least encode it? I'm excited to see the progress.
