It's also annoying to have to check a topic multiple times before an encode is embedded into the OP
It's not immediately obvious when an encode was added, since the thread isn't marked as new on edits, nor will the "View unread posts"-link tell you about it. Would it be possible to extend the submission system to mark submission threads that contain an encode? It might be as simple as a two-line heuristic in TVA's forum module:
if (stripos('[video', $submissiontext) !== false)
  $posttopic = "(encode) $posttopic";
Yes, this! Also, if someone is watching the topic for replies, a message could be sent to their e-mail saying "Encode has been added to [insert submission name here]!".

I try to make temporary encodes before I make a submission, just to avoid the problem of people abstaining from voting until an encode appears (if it ever does). This is important because I have started working on PSX/GC games, which are on pretty large ISOs which would be hard for most people to download and watch on an emulator. I don't think submissions should be delayed until a temporary encode is made, but since GC/Wii TASes will start being submitted, many people will not be able to watch the movie files until an encode is made (GC ISOs are about 1.4 GB and Wii ones are almost 4 GB). In this case, someone (maybe the author) should make an encode soon after the TAS is submitted.

I'll wait for an encode.

OK, well that's nice to know. Thanks. I'll go ahead and delete the MediaFire one.

Here's a sloppy playthrough (I die a lot) of Kirby's Adventure on FCEUX 2.1.5. I had to upload it to MediaFire because it's way too big for Microstorage (almost 10 MB). It's a little over 2 hours, plays some minigames, presses some buttons (but not all), and includes the other UFO glitch. I assure you I'm not this bad at this game on the actual console.

You do realize that you're an encoder?
..what's your point?
You're asking him to kill you too.
..and?
The lengths you will go in order to financially benefit BrandonE are endearing.
I like how no one notices the obvious sarcasm.
What sarcasm?
Exactly.

Seeing this I really need to finish my damn run of the first game. RNG manipulation sucks.
Someone commented on my temporary encode saying he is "dying to see a TAS of" PSX Frogger, if that gives you any encouragement. I am also anticipating it, whenever it's finished.

Thanks! My temporary encode is pretty bad quality.

Looks great. I don't see anything that looks unoptimized. The only thing is, I just tested this game on VBA24-M and there's a lot less lag. You probably don't want to restart your movie, but I just don't want your movie to be obsoleted quickly.

You're asking him to kill you too. I don't see the problem with Brandon's request. This thread isn't breaking any rules.

I'm having a savestate problem. I'm working on JezzballDS and when I load a savestate from frame 365, the earliest I can press A to build a wall is frame 408. However, when I load a savestate from frame 404, the earliest I can press A to build a wall is frame 409 (nothing happens on 408; it's like a lag frame is added in but the lag counter doesn't advance). I tried loading a savestate on frame 406, and nothing happened when I pressed A on 408 or 409, but not until 410, as if there were two invisible lag frames added in. Why is it doing this?

Does the game lag more if you load the save state on frame 404? If so, I think it's a bug you should report.
Yes, it appears to put in at least one additional lag frame when I load a savestate on frame 404. And I'm using DeSmuME 0.9.7 x64 and JezzballDS 1.3.0. I'll go ahead and report it.

EDIT: I think an in-game time run would be a lot more fun to watch. Some levels look quite messy when you go out of your path to collect coins to reduce the overall time. However, it is still very entertaining and there where a couple surprises in there for me. Yes vote.
I almost always go out of my way to get coins when I have time to waste anyway, like when I have to wait for an enemy to move and I would have just been standing in place for 3 seconds, which is less entertaining than moving around and doing something productive, like collecting coins. Standing around instead of collecting coins wouldn't have been any faster. The only exception is Boulder Canyon, where getting those 6 coins is 4 frames slower than double jumping over the pit, but I save more frames at the Coins Missed screen than I lose going that route.

OK, here is the first level. There's a problem though. If I make and load a savestate on frame 365, then the earliest frame I can press A to make the first line is 408, but if I load a savestate on frame 404, the earliest frame I can press A to make the first line is 409 (nothing happens when I press it on 408). I don't know what's wrong with the savestates. Should I ask about it in the DeSmuME Emulator Development thread? EDIT: OK, no one seems to be helping me with the problem in the DeSmuME thread, so Oel-Boy, if you have a different strategy for Level 1, you can work on it.

I just opened my account earlier this year, but when I went to upload an encode of my latest TAS, there was some text on the upload page that said "Max 15 minutes in length" and a link that said "learn how to upload longer videos". The link led me to that annoying page that keeps popping up every time I log in, the "add a mobile number to your account". I put in my cell phone number and typed in the verification code they texted me, and I was immediately uncapped! I hope this helps some would-be encoder trying to learn how to uncap his accounts.

Or one of them could just be deleted. Probably this one because the other one is really old (and historic). EDIT: That's better.
