That TAS isn't entirely optimal, which is probably why it hasn't been submitted.
You're right, and in fact, you reminded me that the author shared similar comments about the run in this upload:
re-records 46576 There are many improvable points in this run. For example, in Bianco Episode 5, the movement of the enemy is not fastest. I think 1:08:30 is possible.

I'm not feeling well enough to help, but I want to say I really appreciate both your 1:05 TAS and the work you're doing to optimize the route and these spatulas. It'll make it a lot easier to make an awesome, optimized TAS sometime in the future. Some of these times, like Lasers Are Fun And Good For You, can be improved by re-enabling kill planes/the hand. I suppose routing that will be the next thing to start testing.

Since I'm not familiar with anything playstation-related at all, I want to ask what's the current best PS2 emulator? Can games be run full fps?
PCSX2. It's kind of like Dolphin with regard to system requirements; whether you get full FPS or not will depend on your machine.

Is there PS2 TASing yet? I saw PS2 TASes from nicovideo - how are they made?
With PCSX2-rr. It's an old build of PCSX2 that desyncs a lot and as Warepire pointed out, is generally unfit for TASing unless you have "inhuman patience". You'll probably want to use the latest version of the regular PCSX2 if you're just testing things.

Short enough to not get boring, and the entertainment sections helped with that. Good work, fsvgm777. Voting Yes!

Glad this is still alive! You've saved a lot of frames so far, I wonder what the final time will be.

That's a good start, but also try to search for an increased value when you start moving, because otherwise your search will probably contain a bunch of addresses that change value randomly (like 255, 13, 53, etc.). This gets even easier if your character (in this case Mario) visibly starts at a slower speed. Search increased value after you know it's more than 0, then search again when he starts full-on sprinting. Do the same thing with decreased value, and try running in different directions too.

They actually are the same developers :) They made Frogger 2
It shows! This game looks just as fun, lots of similar mechanics, and a few of the same tricks (other jump, clipping, and "moving platforms", which is a common Frogger exploit). Yes vote!

Cstrakm's improvement to the published run has been marked private/removed, but luckily someone made a comparison video between the two before it went down. YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30iZWoq6c3o Nicovideo: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6462920

The wait for the submission text update was worth it! Very funny and clever, I enjoyed reading it alongside watching each stage. The run was actually entertaining for the most part thanks to your antics (I also enjoy syncing movements to the music). The only boring parts were the second girl's dance and the Pumpking fight, and I don't feel they take away from the run that much. Voting Yes, and looking forward to your future runs (and author's comments).

Very funny and entertaining, once again. I enjoyed watching you destroy the CPU at every game too, especially the dice one. Yes vote!

I second Pokota's suggestion. Also, there should be at least a few articles out there talking about the site's purpose, like the Ars Technica and ExtremeTech articles about Masterjun's famous SMW ACE run. The Wiki: SiteHistory page also mentions the site being featured in magazines and "Slashdot", whatever that is. You can use these to help you get started.

The Autofire hotkey autoholds instead of autofiring, even though it shows up as "Held: Auto-B1" on screen. The Autofire Controls in Controllers do work, but are harder to use when TASing. The hotkey works correctly on BizHawk 1.9.1, but not 1.9.4, 1.10.0, or 1.11.0. Tested with SMS Ys: The Vanished Omens (U) and SG1000 Bank Panic (J).

Yeah, that could just be a minor emulation problem then. How off-sync is the audio track?

Which codec are you using to encode with? A good one to dump from Dolphin with is Lagarith; it dumps losslessly but to a much smaller file compared to Uncompressed. It might solve your black screen issue. The audio desync may have to be fixed manually by trimming off the beginning of the audio track or something similar.

For anyone who wasn't able to see the movie yet, an encode has been added to the submission text. Note that there might be an audio desync later in the video.

Don't worry, I don't think it's a big deal since all the posts contain meaningful content and were posted fairly far apart. But I'll break the chain anyway to give you a Game Select entry for your WIPs. You can organize them under it if you'd like.

#91 seems to have been deleted. Is there any way to restore it so it can be used for another game on the same platform?

I've done that, however there is no way for me to reupload the recording, so i hope this doesn't interfere too much with the submission
You can't replace the submission file yourself, but you can upload the new one to Wiki: Userfiles and ask a judge to replace it for you. Speaking of "recording", have you created a YouTube video for this run? If not, do you need help making one, or someone to make it for you?

I'm the wrong person to ask, but someone who can read game code, like Masterjun, could probably look into it for you. I would be interested in seeing an entertaining ACE run of this game though (executing code that warps around, spontaneously levels, instantly kills bosses, etc.), even if it wouldn't be publishable.

I honestly think this would obsolete the published run. I asked in IRC and that seemed to be the consensus there as well. The differences are minimal at best, as I explained a couple posts ago, so I don't think it's enough of a change to warrant having both published.
Ah, okay. That makes the most sense anyway, given the similarity between the runs' routes. Plus, if the published run is below the site's current optimization standards, that would probably be a good reason to obsolete it.

Nice plum bouncing. That doesn't look like the intended behavior, but it sure looks cool!
