Doesn't this obsolete Soulrivers' run? They have the same goals.

That looked fast! There wasn't a lot to that movie, but there'll be more to enjoy after more progress is made.

Yeah, these games were awesome. And thanks for the encode! Really nice improvement, and a pretty impressive run to stand on its own. Yes vote, great job!

Thanks for updating us, Pheenoh. Looking forward to seeing the optimized progress once you resume working on it!

I'm glad you're updating all these old unobsoleted runs, the improvements are more fun to watch and it's usually surprising how much time can be saved. This movie was nicely optimized and included some funny tricks, though I found it to get kind of repetitive after a few minutes. I did watch the whole run though, so I'll vote Meh. I suggest 11014 for the screenshot, or somewhere around it. It just looks really funny to see the character dramatically jumping around in the one area of the screen he's not supposed to be in.

I liked that too, it reminds me of the aesthetically pleasing 12:23.34 of the Mega Man run.

Very smooth, and so short that I watched it twice. I add my thanks for TASing this to electricslide's. Yes vote!

I found this both entertaining and very fast! Yes vote, good enough for Moons alongside the other published run (which has different goals). Kirby FTW

Nice to see a TAS from you, Silverbawxer. Good work on this run, I liked the skips. Late yes vote!

Thanks for your comments, guys. You have some good points. I was leaning toward cancelling this, but I'd kind of like to see how the judging decision turns out. For example, how does this compare to games like Syobon Action and Catplanet, which are of similar quality but were received much better?

yes, this is a high quality TAS from a technical standpoint ... CoolKirby isn't exactly new to this, what would you expect?
I thought that might be you, TehBerral! Thanks for the compliments. Yeah, I liked your speedrun, though the comments here have made me wonder if SDA has any requirements for game quality or notability like we do.

I agree with ventuz that the beginning levels weren't very interesting, but the rest of the run was entertaining. Some of those bosses looked really tough, but you beat them down like it was nothing! I'm voting Yes.

I think that design could fit better for a mobile version or an Android/iOS app.
I like this idea. The new CSS reminds me of Android material design, and also the Windows 8 tablet interface.

There are a billion little indy/flash games like this, and this seems like a particularly half-assed one with under 19 seconds of actual play.
It's meant to be a short game anyway, but it usually takes a lot longer to finish, up to 100 seconds of ingame time if you never die. This TAS plays through it much faster than a casual player, making the game look shorter than it is.

Very well done. I really liked the new entertainment throughout, but especially in the Big Boo and Bowser fights. Yes vote for sure!

After seeing the SDA speedrun, I made a TAS of this game: Link to video Is this entertaining/notable enough to submit? I just don't want it to get rejected.

(Though I'm a little surprised you didn't save Coo for Dedede... I thought you could bring an animal to that fight.)
There's a clever aspect of game design in the vertical room right before Dedede. Kirby squeezes through a gap that's just a few pixels too narrow for an animal friend to fit through too, so you're forced to go it alone.

Now that it's been published, I was able to watch the encode of the whole run. Really funny clipping glitches! I was hoping they'd be this good since you mentioned them when you suggested this game a long time ago (I think it was on the DS Wishlist).

Whoa, didn't see this coming! That was an enjoyable watch. I really liked the Coo clips and new boss strategies, including hacking away at Dedede! Yes vote for sure, great improvement! Do you think you might work on Dream Land 3 next?

Great run, tons of cool-looking strategies. I watched it in FCEUX and kept loading states to watch some sections again. Good commentary too. Yes vote!

That's funny. I always enjoy reading what casual viewers think of submitted TASes.

Ah, that explains it! I'm glad we've been sticking to lossless then; allowing any quality loss in our screenshots could be a slippery slope. I can go ahead and compress the first 11 screenshots that ventuz posted (the first half) and either post the smallest file sizes I get here or replace them as soon as I finish (which probably won't be tonight).

Thanks Zowayix. I added your requests as well as some game and group links, and removed Hard Relay Mario as an improved run has since been published. I also changed several of my descriptions to make them more positive and/or humorous. Thank you, Mothrayas et al., for the constructive criticism and praise, and let me know if any descriptions could be further improved.

Looks like I forgot to run OptiPNG. After that and ScreenshotCompress, I got it down to 2.44 KB, though TinyPNG's is still smaller. I wonder, what does TinyPNG use that our programs don't? Could we start using that site or another newer compressor instead?

#4161: CoolKirby's GBC SpongeBob SquarePants: Legend of the Lost Spatula in 05:57.98
I ran two sets of 100 trials of ScreenshotCompress but was only able to compress this one 7 more bytes, which probably isn't significant enough to justify replacing the screenshot. Its colors should also be "accurate", as this is the palette used by the current BizHawk/Gambatte (to simulate the GBC's).

That was a really interesting submission text, and the amount of work and effort you put into your bot and this run is nothing short of exemplary. I didn't watch more than 9 minutes tonight, but sometime when I want to relax after a long day, I'll watch the whole thing (and rate it). I enjoyed the fast action and the parts where it looks like you're going to run out of fuel but luckily some appears - and then you shoot it anyway! Lastly, I think the score constantly going up makes it feel less like the same thing over and over and more like building progress toward a goal, like watching a video play back as it exports/renders.

Yes! I was hoping someone would do a glitched run of this game. Like Synahel, I had planned to start on one (a TAS though), but couldn't get motivated. Looks like it worked out for the best, since you got to conquer your old hated game! Good run, and I hope you're able to check out that boss strategy to see if you can save time. For now though, yes vote! EDIT: I added an encode to the submission text.
