Ah, okay. Well, it looks like someone got on the ball and fixed that for you, so that problem's solved. Any input about the movies in question?

Okay, got it. So I've added "best ending" to all of them except a few that I have questions about: And some that don't need to be labeled for the following reasons:
  • Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening runs don't need a label because the best ending is obtained by not dying, which is the fastest way to beat the game anyway.
  • In Kaze Kiri: Ninja Action, the bad ending is slower.
  • In Ninja Spirit, the true ending always appears after beating the mode played in the movie.

Wow, way to go! Maybe your TASes in the related videos will get even more popular now.

Can you even imagine a more dumb Sonic hack?
Yep, that's pretty lame. Especially since nothing changes except his sprite, so it really only makes the gameplay a little harder. By the way, this is what a typical Japanese Pepsi Man commercial looks like: Link to video

[1504] SMS Sonic Chaos "best ending" by mike89 in 14:28.55 should have a branch name of either "100%" or "best ending", right? I assume an any% run would be one that doesn't collect the Chaos Emeralds. And should all movies tagged "Best ending" have a branch name that includes "best ending" if they don't already?

Should it be called "0%" or "low%"? The latter seems like it would fit the general category of low% completion better.

It's not mandatory to submit the verification movie; you could upload it to your user files and link to it in your final submission, and it would be just as valid.

Do you have timecodefps.dll in your Dolphin folder? This should be what creates the timecodes.txt file.

This sounds great! Good luck on the project! I'm glad to hear the movie format will be changing too, if only for its extension's sake (anything is better than *.wtf).

Try installing OpenAL. It's available on this page.

Buddybenj has it right. See this post, which links to a frontend for mupen64plus that includes an updated glide64mk2 that fixes the Paper Mario flickering (in other words, the plugin is confirmed to work for mupen64plus). Can this glide64mk2 be implemented into BizHawk, either as a replacement for the current one or included alongside it?

Thanks for the encode, Spikestuff. This was really funny. And the run is well played, too. Yes vote!

Wow, never seen that before. How could a video of an approximately 10 minute TAS be too long? Awaiting Spikestuff's encode.

Those were just amazing! That person really showed off all that can be done in a City Trial TAS. And I never expected it to be possible to clip outside the map (farther than the small area of water you're allowed to "clip" into).

Looks great! Good work, feos. On the capitalization issue, I think branch names should be lowercase unless they describe something that's capitalized in-game (like "Replay Mode" and "Jump Game").

You're very welcome! Happy to help!

Heck the most stupidest one out of all of them is *ahem* SNES Super Mario World (USA) "11 exits" in 09:57.82 by bahamete, Kaizoman666, Mister & PangaeaPanga. note: I wrote it out just in-case someone actually updates it.
That branch name was decided on by a group of actual SMW TASers, and it seems to solve the naming problem we were having before. Why should it be changed?

I like the suggestion of "secret ending", but I personally think "good ending" sounds better for this game. (I'd like to hear what others prefer though.) In any case, if there are only two endings, "good ending" as a branch name would be more correct than "best ending".

I really like Warp's idea of having a branch name for any run that isn't any%, including the "best ending" runs. If everyone agrees to this, I would be willing to change branch names where necessary.

Contra 3 would be:
  • ""
  • "no warp glitch"
  • "pacifist, no warp glitch"
Just so you know, the warp glitch in Contra 3 can't be done in a pacifist run, which is why "no warp glitch" was removed from that one. I know what you meant though. By the way, there are only two movies on this site out of almost 2500 that spell out two specific glitches avoided, so it really isn't a big problem as people make it out to be. Dozens of other formerly-any% runs were able to be grouped under an all-encompassing branch name, like SMW "11 exits" and Battletoads "no memory corruption". That Yoshi's Island run does need a better branch name though. How does "all bosses" sound? It wouldn't cause a problem for the 100% run because it's implicit that a 100% run would have to visit and complete all of the boss stages.

Cool videos. Thanks for posting them, Patashu. He sure makes a TAS of Top Ride look easy to make (though it's probably not).

He meant that glitched% and pacifist% have never been used on this site. The former fits into the site's definition of any% (and is considered legitimate unless it doesn't reach the real ending) and the latter has always had the branch name "pacifist" here. Also, low% is only a valid category for a game when getting the lowest percent completion is slower than finishing as fast as possible (any%).

I'm referring to what happened to branches like this.
That is still more correct than "no memory corruption", which is what it was before one user had a big problem with it.

Even adelikat disagrees with that. But no one cares enough to post (!), so I won't be insisting on anything either.
If he or anyone really cared, they would have suggested or changed the branch name with something better. Or even invited me to IRC to discuss it because I had no idea such a discussion was taking place. But they didn't, so that's what we're stuck with until someone cares to change it. I would love to see a better branch name for that movie, but I've already tried to think of something more fitting and have come up with nothing. But again, at least I tried.

"Glitched" doesn't have a meaning. Any movie marked "glitched" was an any% run since it completed the game as fast as possible without restrictions (therefore, no branch name needed). Anything slower is any% with restrictions, including playing for entertainment instead of speed (playaround), getting all items (100%), or taking the time to collect the fewest items possible (low%), and that practice also dates back to 2005.

Before applying mass changes a single person requested you should have consulted on IRC. A few days ago all that matter was discussed, but somehow none of those people was interested enough to post. But the current flow is wrong.
I did not mass change those 31 runs. 30 of them have had their branch names unchanged since they were published (I only removed Cave Story's branch to make it fit with the other 30). I haven't done anything to those runs because there hasn't been any real discussion on this matter. Once something gets decided, I'll help by changing the branch names to something different if needed.
