That's okay. Take your time optimizing it. Then it won't be beaten easily, which is good.

Another thought: If 'TAS timing ends as you can put the controller down' implicitly removes all blank frames after the last frame of actual input for the purposes of timing, why not remove all blank frames before the first frame too?
That's an interesting thought, but that would require most runs to start from a savestate at the first frame of input, which would make them harder to verify and harder for those who want to watch the run to set it up on their emulator. Blank frames should definitely be removed after the movie though. There's no reason for them to be there.

For vault, I would say shortest input should be used and other tiered TASes should aim for the more entertaining version if the viewers demand it.
This is my view on it too.

Lol, Spikestuff. Great improvement, TASeditor. I love the new glitches! I'd be interested to know how they work, if you wouldn't mind detailing that in the submission text. Yes vote for sure!

That would be a speed-entertainment tradeoff then, right? I'll add that as a publication tag.

Would someone mind making an AV-sync hack build of 3.5-1729? It would be much appreciated.

I have to vote Meh for entertainment, though I did really enjoy this run's technical value. If it can't (easily) be improved, then we should go ahead and publish it. Good job figuring out your own pattern as well as your own method of using the money glitch, Arnold0! That's pretty impressive for a new TASer.

I voted for you. Just a little something to give back for all that MHS and your presence here have done for our community.

Great run. I really like seeing all the luck manipulation pay off to create an optimized TAS. Also, this being a run of a near-glitchless remake of Pokémon Blue, I felt some nostalgia watching this (that doesn't influence my vote though). I found it entertaining, so Yes vote.

Yeah. We actually found that out a while ago. It is unfortunate though.

You probably should wait anyway. You have a few other projects you should work on first.

Thanks for uploading that WIP encode. This is looking really good, CaneofPacci! I like the decision to go for in-game time (even though waiting at the score screen makes the run longer in real time). Keep uploading those WIPs as you progress.

Why is this being published to the Vault? It has 100% approval rating (23/0/0) and multiple comments saying it was entertaining.

I have to agree. It's especially apparent watching the run (slowly) on Dolphin. There are just too many parts where something could have been done a lot faster.

Oh...thanks! I'll start using this for temporary encodes now. Does anyone still need an encode with the audio desync fixed? I could fix it myself in a non-linear editing program but it would be a little bit of a hassle.

It's great that you've started on the run, but that WIP is pretty unoptimized. Or is this just a test run?

I didn't, as I don't have ffmpeg, sox, or Avisynth. I'll download them to speed up the encoding process for next time though. Here's the audio desync encode, by the way (it can be added to the submission text if the authors so wish): Link to video If nothing happens when you click Play, try switching the video quality to 240p and back. That seems to fix the problem.

That is very strange. It's been almost 8 hours and it's only at 66%. :/

Thanks, Spikestuff. :) I actually took your suggestion of having an audioless encode a little further, throwing together an encode that starts with the sound on track but slowly gets very much desynced (I would have synced it up myself in Movie Maker, but it would take a little while and I really need to get to sleep). If anyone's interested, this major-audio-desync encode will be available in about 2 hours.
