That's good. No reason to optimize your verification movie.

The actual problem is that Nahoc doesn't want to judge it
Is that the reason? I thought he was just busy working on SM64.

Can't release an emulator without an "a" release! So here it is: BizHawk 1.1.1a binary This fixes issues with GBC.
Thanks, adelikat!

The new BizHawk 1.1.1 doesn't read input from GBC games. Game Boy games like Kirby's Dream Land and Game and Watch Gallery work fine, but GBC games like Game and Watch Gallery 3 and SpongeBob: Legend of the Lost Spatula don't respond to button presses, and the input isn't even acknowledged on the input display.

Well, it's a good test run, but if you made mistakes and found shortcuts, it would be a good idea to start over, making sure to optimize everything. Unless you wanted to use that run for your verification movie, which would be a good idea since it's a relatively fast full playthrough.

Yes, but the amount of testing needed is by no means trivial (so it is going to take some time at least).
I understand. Thanks for taking the time to fix it.

You're using BizHawk, right? I ask because Dega is deprecated now, and it seems that BizHawk's Game Gear emulation is better in every way.

Oh, my mistake. I thought it would be as easy as editing the name of the link.

Thank you for your quick reply, Ilari. The second option would probably be the best, since it would also be the most correct (the first 2 or 3 BizHawk runs used the .tas extension). Are you planning to create a new type code for the new extension, then?

Is this ever going to be fixed? It makes sense for the early BizHawk movies, but not for the runs published after the file extension change. This should be an easy fix, too. Could someone at least answer instead of just ignoring the question?

Why does the publication page's torrent link read "BizHawk movie file (*.tas)"? This movie was submitted as a *.bkm. Could someone fix it?

I'm excited that this run is finally being done! Before a few weeks ago, we just kept hearing "it'll never get done, they'll never start making the run until every single star is completely optimized". We must be near that point now, and that's amazing. This TAS will be the culmination of 7 years of work on this game! Definitely a movie that will be worthy of a star.

Yeah theres a hard mode but it only basically applies to the minigames.
Oh, never mind then. Just post all the tricks you know here and henke37 will write them up for you on the Game Resources page.

Could happen someday. Maybe when Reggie retires, or a bunch of people who want the games to be released on VC get hired by Nintendo of America.

Sounds like a good reason to use SRAM to me. Is there a hard mode? If there is one that's unlocked after the first time you finish the game, you could use that for your run, and you'd have two reasons to start from save data. And yes, it would be a good idea to post the tricks you know and the route you're thinking of while you're waiting to be ungrounded.

You mean just to test it out, right? That could be interesting. It wouldn't be something you could actually submit, though, since it's not solely controller input.

How about you start a new page in the game resources, and input the tricks you already know?
He can't create or edit Game Resources pages because he hasn't had a published run before. Zwataketa, I think what you should do is either post all the tricks you've found here so you won't forget them, or post your test run with all the tricks in it. I haven't played the game, but I'll be happy to watch your WIPs and tell you what looks good and what looks improvable. How much faster is Squidward anyway? If he's not much faster, then it wouldn't be worth it to start from SRAM just to run through the game a little faster.

I had a little idea for 4 player TAS. Instead of hooking up 4 emulators, why not somehow control the Kirbys by writing into the RAM?
Wouldn't that have to exist as a hack? If you wrote to RAM manually during a TAS, the RAM values wouldn't change when you played just the input back, so it couldn't be done unless there was a glitch that allowed access to the RAM to control the other Kirbys.

Also any% TAS will be complete very soon.
Great! I hope you found a way to use the glitches you've been finding to save time.

There are quite a few glitches that you can do in this game, unless console versions took that out because I know glitches from the ps2 version.
I don't know the game, but I would think the PS2/GameCube/Xbox versions would all be the same game with the same glitches.

I second your sentiments about SNESHawk, and I also would like to thank everyone who made GBHawk possible. It runs perfectly, and it feels really good knowing I'm TASing on the most accurate GBx emulator out there. And it's still impressive that I can play or TAS most of my games from different consoles all in BizHawk.
