You can short-charge the Shinespark in a number of ways. The simplest is to not press run until you've walked a few steps. The Super Metroid resources page has more detailed information.

Per the FAQ that NMcCoy linked, the other bosses in the Focus Tower have 20k, 15k, 10k, and 10k HP (and Pazuzu has 25k). Doesn't mean it wouldn't work, necessarily, just that it'd require repeat castings. Assuming of course that the bosses don't have a max HP cap that the game applies. Do any monsters in the game use healing magic on themselves? I can't remember. If they do, then the devs might well have added a check to make certain they can't overheal themselves, which would mean that overflow might only be possible if you do it in "one shot".

The thing that impresses me most about this game is that they implemented an accurate line-drawing algorithm for Spidey's webslinging.
What I'm saying is, this game isn't very impressive.
Anyway, uh, congrats for actually "finishing" it, I guess.

I wouldn't worry too much. ACE is getting its time in the limelight right now, like multiruns did awhile back. It won't ever disappear completely but it's not like more "traditional" runs aren't going to continue being made.

As I understand it, as long as you return to precisely where the bomb was dropped before the Crystal Flash starts, you can do it correctly. So yes, it should be possible to lay a bomb, then grab a refill, then return to where you laid the bomb.

Of course, such a "heavily glitched" run might just be the prelude to a "true ACE" run as the runners figure out how to get more control over what code exactly is executed...

If the icons are required to be happy (and I don't see a happy or but whatever) then go with the fourth option in Mothrayas' poll instead of the first one. The smile in the first one is basically completely invisible, and if you look hard enough to see it then you're also looking hard enough to notice that it's just not a very well-drawn star.

Speaking as a non-judge, at this point IMO it's left up to the judge's own opinion of the movie, which of course requires them to watch it themselves. If the audience can't be bothered to write comments on the movie then they don't really care what happens to it.

Really the main purpose of the poll is to rope people into participating in the process of watching submissions. There's a ticky box that you can click! But you have to watch the video first. And if you go to that much effort then you might as well write a post with more detailed feedback.

The voting is only ever a very rough guide to audience reaction anyway. Posted responses with explanations of how viewers feel about the run get approximately a billion times more influence than the votes themselves do. If you can't be bothered to write a post, then it's assumed you don't feel all that strongly about the run.

I'm just generally inclined to say that any run that uses arbitrary code execution is given the tag "arbitrary code execution" and the absence of that tag is indicative that we're operating under more "normal" circumstances. Once you take over control of the game's execution you can do anything you want, so any prior categories just go out the window. Any%? 100%? The only thing you can't do with ACE is a glitchless run, by definition.

As was noted in the previous submission thread, someone (sorry, I forgot who!) is working on a 100%/all-levels run, which would necessarily include saving all the crewmembers.

Depends on how out-of-the-way the key is and what your magic reserves look like. I suspect that the actual act of moving through the door as a fairy (plus pausing to re-activate the spell) is faster than stabbing an en-route key and then unlocking the door, but a lot more goes into planning that makes the two acts basically impossible to directly compare except on a case-by-case basis.

If I recall correctly, it becomes necessary in palace 6 if you haven't yet found the magic key, since there simply aren't enough keys to complete the palace otherwise. As a kid I never managed to find the hidden town and thus had to use fairies to finish palace 6.
As for whether or not it's intentional, I'm pretty sure it's unintentional but was played up as a feature back in the day. Something about fairies being able to fly through keyholes or something like that.
EDIT: okay, watched the run. It looked good, though I do have to wonder if walking on the top of the wall, especially in the Great Palace, counts as using an "unintended exit". It's certainly not how the Great Palace was intended to be solved!

Since this is a fighting game, you should make certain to place the emphasis on making an entertaining run, rather than necessarily a fast run. The problem with speed-oriented TASes of fighting games is that they tend to just end up being the TASer beating up on a "defenseless" AI (since the AI cannot accomplish anything when fighting against someone with access to TAS tools).
I suggest you watch some of the published fighting game TASes on this website, especially the Mortal Kombat TASes, to get some ideas for how you can make your run as entertaining as possible. Good luck!

Assuming that BizHawk is like most open-source projects, the bug tracker is the best way to report bugs, since it's what the devs use to track progress on fixing things. But the devs will likely get irritated if they get lots of redundant bugs added to the tracker. It's a fair amount of work to compile a proper bug report and either add it to the tracker or update an existing item already in the tracker.
Writing a forum post is very easy, but gets less attention from the devs. Not zero attention, but less.
Bottom line is, these guys are donating their time and you're benefiting from it, so be careful about complaining. Not that you have to be obsequious, just polite.

Could we just call this one "Rockman 3" and the other one "Rockman X3" per Mothrayas' previous post? Surely that won't cause confusion!
More usefully, we could call them "Rockman X3 (glitched dump)" and "Rockman X3".
