I'd have to say, my very first time being exposed to the world of TASing was when, in my sophmore year of high school, someone in my computer science class was showing off a movie of that infamous SMB3 in 11 minutes speedrun. Of course, my jaw was hanging on the ground that whole time, but I thought it was being played in real-time. A little while later, I was reading a video game magazine and saw mention of it in a "Good, Bad, and Ugly" column, as well as noticing they had it as "Bad". Wondering why, I read the blurb, and that's when I found out it was a TAS. I was annoyed at first, because I hadn't been told, but I more recently realized that where it initially was probably told people, but someone somewhere along the line didn't understand or didn't notice that it wasn't a realtime speedrun, causing me to not be able to find that out from the get go. As for my first time actually doing anything TAS related...well, I'd have to say it was using savestates in Super Demo World: The Legend Continues, or, if it can be counted (because this one's in the actual game, not a ROM w/ emulator functions), casting the Return spell in Final Fantasy V Advance to get the "rare" steal from some enemies in the Interdimensional Rift more easily. So, yeah, I'm pretty much the same as most people.

Even if it has a nice story, the battle system fails. Bad game... Randil, RPG Maker VX is what's hip hop happening now.
A couple things in response: I will remind you that this game is to be a throwback to old-school, apparently. Thus, you can probably bet the battle system will be basic. As for VX...just because it was released doesn't make the XP version stop working, though it could make interest wane, it's no different than when a new system comes out. I still play my Super NES and Game Boy every so often (even preferring them to newer game systems half the time!), and I'm sure many others do as well. It's worth noting that I'm not criticizing or anything, you have some points there, but this is just how I look at it ;). Anyway, back on topic overall, I recently downloaded the game, and might try it out at some point. Though I have another game I want to play first, so it might be a while before I can give a thorough review.

Is the way you do it something like save-stating at the point you want to say "Let's call it a day," then playing the movie again and reloading that state after you start once you're ready to continue?
Exactly. Just don't forget to load the movie before you load the state the next day.
Thank you! Yeah, I think what happened was I accidentally did that procedure backwards...I figured I should try it that way, but I wanted to check and see if I was completely off base in the first place beforehand.

Question: How do you stop a movie so that you can resume later at that point? Like, I want to watch this long (about 6 hours!) SNES9x movie, but I don't think I can stand to watch it all at once; I want to be able to watch about 2 hours of it, "pause" it, close out of SNES9x, then the next day watch some more of the movie. Is that possible? Am I making any sense? Is the way you do it something like save-stating at the point you want to say "Let's call it a day," then playing the movie again and reloading that state after you start once you're ready to continue? Thank you in advance.

I'm not 100% that you can kill Ganon using only the level 3 sword. You can at least damage him by doing spin attacks. But I could never be bothered to do a serious attempt. My testrun ends at Ganon for just that reason. I could try some more, or if you would like, in order to kill him that way. But I think I'll get more powerups then ;D. The main reason to not get it is that you will be forced to climb the tower a third time, if you don't do anything like this http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/815963890/Emerald.smv But that will most likely count as EG, or...?
Yes, Ganon can be killed with the Lv 3 "Golden" Sword; PitKidIcarus/littlelink91 did it in his run (another reason to set aside time to watch it). It may be interesting to see the EG method of getting the Kokiri Emerald, though I can't say yet whether it'd save time or waste time. Of course, I'm definitely a newbie, so you'd be a better judge anyway.
