I mustn't be "many people" because I absolutely hate this method. I really didn't have any idea this method was that popular. But hey, what works for people works for them. I wouldn't mind this addition as long as I get to keep my centralized load/save buttons. Pretty much every other emulator handles both.

If the goal is to deprive a troll an audience on the workbench, forcing some forum activity does the same thing. Besides, once a troll is deprived of an audience on the workbench, they'll just take it to the rest of the forums anyway.

What do you mean "moderated"? Are you suggesting that pre-judge system you suggested before? I really fail to see how that's any different than the system we have now: all you'd do is shunt it off to a select group of people. The way things are now, everyone can establish the legitimacy of a submission the way they establish the quality of a movie and help the judges do their job. We shouldn't take that help away from them for any reason. I honestly think that the same qualifications for voting need to be applied to submitting as well. It ensures that the newcomer has some establishment here and has a better idea of what we do here in the case of honest but misguided individuals who might have submitted a real-time run. Those who are earnest and have a good submission will hopefully be understanding enough of the situation to not be bothered by making just a few posts (I'm assuming that if a newcomer would try to submit something, a polite message would show up informing them of past and potential abuse, and to please make a few posts so we can come to know him/her a little more). In the case of trolls? Trolls will be trolls, no matter what we do, but this helps increase the chance of catching them before they hit the workbench. Again, the community can help establish who's who in this case. But what about those who don't speak English very well and wish to submit something? This may sound a little arrogant, but I think that if they are versed enough to make a submission, they are versed enough to make a few short, halting posts. If they are desperate enough, they could probably resort to a machine translator or get a friend to help. It's either this, or we should just leave it the way it is now.

I remember back in my early days of tool-assistance seeing a Super Mario video called "Mario God Playing" or something along those lines, where the creator demonstrated a number of bugs in the Mario engine. It was a pretty fun watch... up until the 50th wall jump. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It sounds pertinent.

Of all the propositions that have been made for this site, this is the one I feel the least comfortable about. I can understand rescuing things from the grue because sometimes the audience's opinion doesn't match up with the judge's, but it's very, very rare for anyone complain to that a run was published; the only time I clearly remember that happening was with one of Phil's runs, and that was simply because of fishy circumstances. Seriously, why is this being brought up? There really hasn't been any clamor for this to happen. Practically the only run that people seriously suggested be unpublished was Guanobowl's Ocarina run for being slower than the current unassisted record. I don't feel there's any need for all this. Edit</i>: The one track racing game runs? Yeah, I'm with Kuwaga on that one. That's like publishing the first level of a platformer.

(oh man, the nostalgia!) I love it. I've been waiting for this to get done. It's looks like you could do better on the lag control front, but aside from that I don't have much to say. I really like the bomb jumping techniques. Please continue, you're doing great! Japanese Bomberman's voice is much better than the American voice, but I think I prefer English villains. Eh, whatever.

Earlier this week, I dreamt that there was a zoo exhibit that housed cougars that could sleep underwater. Apparently their fur acted as a sort of gill: it would filter out the oxygen from the water and when large enough air pockets formed they would reflexively lift a paw and push it into their nose. It was quite a sight.

This makes me think... How about having a representative placeholder for a given system? The NES would have the current one, the Playstation would have Alucard, etc. I think the current one is too integral to just give up entirely; I associate it more with the site than I do Bisqwit.

I see that the word "troll" has been mentioned seven times on the previous page (not including repeats in quotes). I'll invoke Hanlon's Razor here and say that I honestly don't think that's it trolling, just ignorance. People misunderstand the purpose of the site all the time, submitting incomplete runs with only the loosest of tool assistance, but I rarely seen anyone doing it to be mean; the closest thing I've seen has been this charles dude. This is a problem that won't go away, because people will continue to not read what is there, and if they do, they will misinterpret it or disregard it*. We'll just have to live with it until it truly does become unbearable. So yes, I'm with Kyrimys: The problem is being overblown right now. *Not for trolling purposes; I have seen some of these people say, "Well, I just prefer to show off my own skill, that's all."

That manual is sure fun. Who knew technical manuals could be so casual? I especially like the repetitive "new game tranformation". The nando speed is still a bit unclear: does it adjust to make it easier or harder? I'll just assume that it would take the usual arcade route and make things harder. Looks like I'm ready to get going on this. Thank you.
