Huh, Satoru Iwata was involved in this title. Kewl. Generally tight and looks well executed, but often there seemed to be superfluous motions. I'm assuming these were to manipulate enemy and helper positions? Overall, I enjoyed it. Interesting that there's *two* licensed games based on this movie. Was the first one not good enough?

Cats may be fun to watch, but I find dogs are a lot more personable. You want a good middle ground? I think you know my answer to that. ;P

Thanks. Is it all right if I throw these up on Youtube?

Great, I finish and submit this run and then come across this. Although my movie is tighter and uses some tricks he didn't use (resulting in the eight second difference), he used some tactics I wasn't aware of that speed up a few things. I may cancel this run (haven't decided yet), and work on it later this month. It didn't take very long at all to make. (mental note: *always* look at Youtube first)

How about we just keep it simple and leave them together in one lump sum? ;P Although your sub-category idea WOULD give a place to those polymorphic games. Your post got me thinking, and I decided to remove Gremlins for being too fantastical and fictive. However, I'm still debating over whether or not I should include Bubble Bobble (they strike me as being rather fantastical as well, which is why they're not on right now).

I just compiled a themed list of my own. I call it Animal Planet, runs of games that star animals in the lead role. There were a few gray areas in compiling this list. Generally, any game where you transform into an animal wasn't included, so Altered Beast and Wonder Boy 3 didn't make the cut; however, Toki did, since even though you're playing as a human turned monkey, polymorphing isn't a part of the gameplay itself. Also, animal themed humans weren't included, so no Batman or Spiderman.

Perhaps the old voting system is so ingrained in our culture that saying, "Voting yes," has become slang for, "I approve."

Watching this run was reminiscent of watching one of those videos taken of a long drive, except each frame is a picture taken every 10 seconds. (thanks, nine!)

Also, did the glitch not allow you to go through the gargoyle-head door in 5-4?
Nope, which is why I'm glad I could interact with the gargoyle heads. If I couldn't, I'd be stuck with a glitch that could save a bunch of time but makes it impossible to finish. Glad you liked it, even if the submission text wasn't quite to your approval. ;P

Yeah, when I get around to updating the text, I'll be mentioning that. I'll say right now that it won't amount to much more than, "I really don't know what happened," but I'll include a few more details than that.

Ah, so he returns! No problem about "filling in the void". I'm hoping that the rock pile disappearing was the glitch you were talking about; otherwise I may have missed something potentially helpful. :( Thanks, everyone, for watching and commenting. I haven't updated the text lately because life has been a little more stressful than usual. So to relieve some of that stress, I'll spout out some more findings that don't have to do with the run! First, I decided to mess around with the Lock Palette feature that Gens has. Locking it on the title screen had me kinda creeped out. Everyone, presenting Shadow Sparkster and the Sea of Blood. The programmers missed something with the first boss. Stupid Youtube seems to wreck my encoding jobs... And lastly, this is what would happen if contemporary Epic Megagames were to design the characters. Perish the thought! Good night, the input recorder for Gens sure likes to go spastic!

Go watch the run of the SNES version and see if you are still saying that. The Nintendo version is much better. ;(

In many other religions, questioning the core beliefs (islam), or even revealing them to the outsiders (especially the initiates) (mormonism, scientology), is a taboo.
I think you may be confused as to what is "core" in our religion. Either that or we're operating on different definitions, which I can't argue. What a vast majority of people in my faith consider to be the essentials is the restoration of lost priesthood authority and the availability of the Book of Mormon. I know you can argue this point until you are blue in the face, but personally I wouldn't want the Bible without the Book of Mormon. If you're thinking our temples, which, while important, is *hardly* a core essential, then you'd be right. Discussions of the particulars of the ceremonies therein is limited to inside the structures themselves. It's not that we're scared the general public will get a hold of information they shouldn't have and thus should be kept under tight wraps, but rather that what goes on inside is considered very sacred and needs to be administered in proper context. The reason why I say it's hardly essential: without the Book of Mormon, there would be no Mormon temples. To argue that temples are "core" would be like saying calculus is an essential foundation of mathematics when it's clearly built on those foundations. That being said, I agree with pretty much everything you've been saying lately. (and yes, I know that mentioning being a Mormon on the internet is bound to get people riled up; I can already see the questions I can't effectively answer!)

Google, in another stroke of mad brilliance, has created Google 2001, allowing you to search the internet as it was seven years ago. A lot of people are using it to reminisce about the good ol' days of the internet. My two searches of interest: History confirms the origins stated in the Wikipedia article concerning our hobby. Only 1630 hits register; obviously something was percolating back then. Compare to the two million you get today. So what do some of your searches yield? Edit: For some other things, check out this Gamespite Talking Time thread. Apparently "lulz" only gets around 70 hits.

Hey, for your Golden Oldies, would you approve adding the first Rescue Rangers movie? As the text notes, it's the first 2 player movie here, but since this was before two player recording, it tackled the problem in a very off-the-wall manner that reflected a "Just have fun with it" attitude.

Well, I approved of it when it wasn't done; why shouldn't I approve of it now? Good job! I like how you made a complete joke out of the final boss. Only one thing: It seems like one of the balls you threw at the alien cat missed. I'm also assuming that the light switch needs to be pressed before those platforms appear. Bummer. I'll admit that section was *rough* to sit through.

Even if you were to go through key doors, the areas behind them wouldn't be loaded. You'd be stuck in a little alcove similar to the well known tower glitch.

I thought so, but it's confusing because I have more than 8 fcms. :/ Whatever. At least it's known.

I know you can convert between the two. That's not the problem. Here's what I mean. I download the fm2 file; I have no fcms for it. There are, however, plenty of other fcms for other games in my movie folder. I think this is what's throwing it off. I go to File->Replay Movie. Even though there are no fcms for this game, I get a note along these lines: "FCM format no longer supported; you can convert them to fm2 in the tools menu." I hit OK to get past it; it throws another at me, same message and everything. Repeat seven or eight times. FINALLY I get to the Play Movie dialog box where it has the input file I just downloaded ready to be played. I find it needless and annoying. Only once should be plenty. Also, the microphone is just a one bit value that detects the presence of sound and nothing else. It can be easily emulated by the press of a button, so it shouldn't be too difficult to record.

Twice I've watched the Ufouria video that looks close to being submitted, and both times I got pestered with seven or eight different ".fcm no longer supported" messages. I have no .fcms for this game. Is there any way to turn this message off? Also, does this support/record the Famicom microphone? I think I can remember something about that being mentioned on IRC a while ago, but my memory is very fuzzy, and I can't find anything in the emulator concerning it.

That was how mine was labeled, so that's what I reported it as. Not quite sure what the deal is. Thanks for watching.

Earlier I was toying around with the idea of facetiously posting, "Can't do that because it would start arguments." I had no idea that would actually happen. :(

I guess I'll go ahead and provide an update. I have it done up to the robot gauntlet in level 5. I had gotten to the boss once, but I discovered that smacking their mines back can cause tremendous damage, so I'm having to do it over again. Trouble is the damage dealt seems semi-random, so I'm having to figure how to get it to work. Once I do, the results will be quite impressive. Edit: Guargh! None of this makes any sense! I've seen one mine do 10 points of damage, but other times I send all four back and do only 2. What causes this?!
