Good bye Ferret! Good luck on your mission! (Not that I really encourage it, but anyways) :) <-- Emoteicon. Too bad you didn't pick any good titles in your request (besides Sonic). Otherwise I might had concidered making one of them. :) Haha.. When it comes to this it's rather funny. The last thing you remember from me is that I pissed you off with insulting/stupid/annoying posts. :) Nah.. I like you man. Hope that you get back home in one intact peice, eager to make new TAS's. Take care!

Just watched the movie. Very good I must say. But if the next run of this game is going to aim for speed, I think it also would be good to manipulate the flights perhaps, between the levels I mean? Sure, very little improves come from that. But it would be cool to pick the shortest possible rout there. Might be an overkill though. :)

I don't think he is the fastest really. I think there are some juggles that others can use in order to do 100% damage. Perhaps Eyedol has this as well? I never really explored much with him. His variety won't be that great, and we won't get to see any nifty ultimates or ultra finishers. However since Eyedol is activated through Cinder this can be used to variate stuff. Not sure if there is any other way to get in contact with Eyedol as a playable character. Also I think that hyper active mode should be used in order to break this game faster. This can be done before every battle as far as I know, by rotating the controllers D-pad counter clockwise I think.

I woulden't mind seeing the locked topics move to it's own thread called something like "Closed cases" or what ever. Because it's highly likley that a submitted movie will get dropped to the bottom before someone remembers it and bumps it. I think this idea is good to not burry all active submissions in dirt of canceled and rejected subjects. The reason to save closed topics is to look for answers and information that might have been given etc. It's always good to save it for some reason. :) So this is a YES-vote from me. Make a new thread with locked/canceled/rejected submissions.

I'd watch it. Perhaps a run with Eyedol? I want to see a good combo with him.

Ah. Too bad then. :( I just thought that it was faster to fire elecmans weapon and have the debris flying towards cutman sooner than to grab a rock with gutsman.

Coulden't elecman be used at cutman and just shoot one of the rocks and have the debris kill cutman with the pause trick? Not sure if it's faster, but could be worth a try.

Wow! I played this on Amiga 500 when I was a kid. Going to watch the game when I get more time on my hands.

You mean the slime worm in the castle? Which splits up in a bunch of flying eyes? I don't recon seeing a lizard around in this game. Maby there is room for improvement in some places. But the slime worm was really tricky to deal with. Thanks for your vote! :)

You wrote so much that i will at least watch the movie :) brb with impressions. back: ok, i dont like this game. 32 shots to kill the pirana plant? that was really out of balance with the 2 seconds fight with the other boss i dont even rememebr what it looked like hehehe...
Yeah. The game is very unbalanced some times. Unless there is some super-mega-power-attack to use at those hard bosses as well. I don't know?

It looked like it can't be made any faster, except for a ladder that didnt 'look' optimal (but i dont know the phisics of the game) and the marshmellow giant, because it seemed that you did slow shots because only 1 shot was at screen, but couldn't you have jumped just before the first shot left the screen so that when it actually left you would already be on target to give the next shot? what you were doing was wait for the shot to leave screen so you could start the next jump. that looked like it could be improved, but it may have to do with charging shots... dunno. but it really doesnt concern me much as the loooooong fights with some of the bosses...
All the ladders should be optimal. I spent very much time reaching them the first possible frame avalible. About the phaser shells (fireballs) this is the slowest weapon. The fireball needs to disappear from the screen in order to be able to fire a new one. However it's very powerful against some of the bosses and enemies.

i'd rather see wiz'n liz done than this, at least the *long and repetitive* boss fights have nice music and sound and such. not your fault though.
Than make that movie and I'll take a look at it. ;)

I liked how you crowled on your back hehe :) ,,
Thanks. :) It's sort of an up+down trick. But it's doable on the actuall hardware as well, but no guide I've read seems to know about it. Actually the guids misses alot of good information.

Voted meh. It plays fast but feels like it needs some strategy improvements (lots of "why?" moments). For one, I wonder why you don't buy anything between the first and second levels; if the first doesn't give you enough for a good weapon (3-way seems much better than the phaser shell) do the second level before the first.
And how would I save time by doing the second stage before first stage? Besides it takes time to buy weapons. Yes, I wanted to have the phaser shells before the second level, but I figured that it was better to buy the phaser shells and the 3-way shoot at the same time. It would save me more time. Of course there are always room for mistakes. But I think I did rather well to prevent them.
nifboy wrote:
You go out of your way to avoid damage in the second level but take plenty of damage in level 3. It seems like you could get the phaser shells off screen faster, and thus shoot them faster.
I don't have the phaser shells in level 2. And why I avoided damage in some places is because it would bounce me the wrong direction and thus cost more time than gained. It was for example better to wait for the ice robot at the top of the ladder right before the flying girl.

Shouldn't you have pressed start once more in the end? (Damn, this is my 100th post... what a waste.)
C actually. I thought I did that? Damnit. It's only one frame! :/

[quote="Lieza McDohl" I've included the rom itself into the zip file with this.[/quote] So you're saying you made a 3MB (in compressed state) movie? Edit: Ooooooops!!! :D I misread bytes for kilobytes! :D It was only 33kb. Yet you should not include the rom with the movie when submitting! That is against the policy of this site. People would need to "find" the rom them selves in some mysterious way. Not download it through here! Edit 2: I voted no because you played really bad. It looked like you played on full speed and did not correct your mistakes, which is the purpose of this entire site more or less. To make entertaining movies flawlessly, more or less. ;) Do not take this as personal critique. But since you didn't put much effort into it (149 re-records), this is not something I can recommend for the publishers to produce into avi. Edit 3: This was the worst hack ever made. It should be highly illegal to make such crappy hacks. Have you checked the other SMB1 movie on this site Lieza? You will find that it's around the 5min frame of time. Yours was much slower. If the whole SMB1 game was changed, ie new levels, harder stuff blah blah blah and not only graphics, then just maby you would be allowed to submit that. This will just go down the drain and cost precious time for moderators, publishers etc etc etc. Please research next time before you make a time attack or speedrun. And FFS read the guides on the site! ;) Better luck next time!

I think you should read the submission rules again my friend! Edit: Read all this! http://tasvideos.org/SubmissionInstructions.html I do NOT think you are allowed to submit the rom with the file. So cancel this and only submit the movie file!

My sound went off. Have to check again. I might have fiddled something- I noticed some diffrences between the Building of a dynasty and battle for Arrakis games though. For example.. When building a palace and places it, you will have a weapon ready right away. This is not the case in building of a dynasty. It has to charge first, like when you used it one time. My webserver is unreachable ATM. Not sure what happend to it. I will need to upload the GMV somewhere else, or send by instant messenger such as MSN or ICQ. Another alternative could be by email. You could PM me Aqfaq and I'll send the gmv to you. Edit: What do you know! After I posted the above I check the webserver again, and it sort of solved the problem it self! :D Here's the link to it: http://133an.sytes.net/~highness/Dune_-_The_Battle_for_Arrakis_(E).gmv.zip

I just recorded the last mission in realtime with Atredies. 67min something the clock stops on. The in game time ends on 1:04. I can put the gmv up here if you wish! No desyncs when I watched it with frame skip. Edit: I also suspect that the last mission could be ended in a matter of just a couple of minutes. You have a pretty good offensive to start with. Atleast you could do it sub 30min without problem I think. :)

People! I just ran two tests! I used building of a dynasty first. But that one desynced after 3 minutes. Then I ran a 10min test with Battle for Arrackis (E) (!) rom and that did not desync. So perhaps we should switch roms? Even though building of a dynasty is faster. That could actually be the issue right? Dynasty is played too fast on the sega?

LOL! Next time hit the record button Truncated! :D About the trick with crappy AI. They will shoot their own buildings yeah. It's very easy to use, and I hardly even see that as manipulation. I just see that as a lack of AI. Well... Manipulation it would be called I think since we know that this can be done. Which is more or less a firearm extra in the war towards them selves. :)
