I seem to remember that it's possible to get infinite coins on bowser fights due to his flame breath. It's been several years but I remember screenshots of people with over a 1,000 coins in bowser fights alone

I'll assume that the last boss fight had to go down like it did, and vote yes. I agree with angerfist that it's not the most entertaining game to TAS, but I imagine some of that has to do with the fact that I haven't played the game. Regardless, good job

So at this point, what does the route look like?

It's amazing to see this kind of progress, not to mention improvement, in such a short period of time. I've been playing mario 64 on my wii recently and I was surprised to see how much harder it was than I remembered.

Finished watching the WIP, I noticed a considerable difference in play style on the last few courses in the dragon area, most notably the second dragon race, in that you no longer bumped into the walls when doing barrel rolls through the tunnels. The race generally seemed much smoother, but was it faster than bumping into the walls?

So uhh... What is Reverse Bottle Adventure? As in, how exactly (key word here is EXACTLY) do you do it?
Acryte wrote:
Instructions for Reverse BA: [Key: C=Child A=Adult] A.5 -> B[Bug], C-Right[Poacher's Saw]. Fish is fine too but you won't learn Nocturne so you have to grab a bug sometime before trading poacher's saw or else you lose Prelude of light by using empty bottle to learn it. A.8 -> B[Bug], C-Right[Broken Goron's Sword]. If the Bug is used instead of a Fish then you also get the Water Medallion too (Not like it matters). A.11 -> B[Bug],C-Right[Bottled Letter]. If the Bug is used instead of a Fish then you get 29 arrows updated instead of 25 w/ the Fish (not like it matters since you only get 1 shot) Description: Bottle Adventure is about using the items on C-right to get things onto the B button by traveling forwards and backwards in time. Reverse Bottle Adventure is about using the Bottle on B w/ different things you can catch to update things into your inventory that are determined by both the item on C-right (which determines the type) and the item on B (which determined the quantity of the adjusted amount, or the specific things that are altered in the menu). Steps: Put the required item on C-right, then Catch the specified object in the Bottle that is on B (or empty it and catch it), in order to update your inventory appropriately. NOTES: HAHAHA I used it to unequip and delete my Kokiri Tunic.... I want to see a like like eat me after I equip another tunic and see what happens...

I was thinking that it might be prudent to use an emulator that's not mupen when actually playing games, and so I will. I have a fairly new videocard (it's actually only about a month old), but I'm not sure whether or not it hass the support. Thanks though, I was kind of giving up hope on getting a reply :P

what video plugin are you guys using? I've tried Rice's 6.1.1, Jabo's Direct3D 1.6, Jabo's Direct3D 1.5.2, Glide64 v.07 ME SP8, and glN64 v0.4.1. Rice's and Jabos 1.6 work the best by far, but I get some odd image problems using them both, some sort of weird image overlay. Any advice?

What's the growth % for the site? By month? I mean in terms of hits, etc.
Well, it's like this. You will have to calculate percentages yourself, though. The numbers on left denote hits per month. Thanks to Xkeeper for some of the idioms used in this graph or its generator.
over the 40 months that the site has been active, (keep in mind this is an estimate) the site has had about 76,250 more hits per month.

Watching the run, it's hard to tell what exactly is going on, even after reading the submission text. On the other hand, as a speedrun, this is very impressive, especially when considering that the human high score is far less than yours. yes vote

I find Rice's 6.0.0 plugin works best to get things to sync up.
I really liked the way the Rice plugin made the game look. I can't really find the words to describe it, but the models looked sharper, like the light was hitting them differently. Regardless, the run looked really good, even for a person like me who has never played much of Majora's Mask it was entertaining

I've watched the last two WIPS two or three times now, and I've also been following the argument in this thread about camera angles and entertainment vs. speed. To be honest, I have no idea why you guys are getting so caught up over the angles. They're really not that bad, perhaps one or two places where it sits uncomfortably close to mario's face, but it's not like the camera stays in that position for any longer than a couple seconds at a time, and personally I don't think they remove from the entertainment value to any great extent. My two cents. It's a little ridiculous when Rikku shaves minutes off of the posted run and then people say stuff like "I wasn't that bothered with it." It's sort of belittling

I've been having desyncs here and there, at the very beginning (which is no big deal), as the deku scrub is running through town. I think it's just problems on my end, but whenever I tried to reload the rom and recording it wouldn't get rid of the sram. When I load the rom and the wip it starts the game in clock town on day one. Let me see again I'm pretty sure this is a noob question, but I've yet to be able to find a copy of the TAS input plugin 0.6. It doesn't show up on my settings page, and I think it may be related to the little desyncs I've been having. Also, is there any reason the WIP is being recorded with Jabo's 3D6 1.5.2.

I didn't like this movie. Most of it is just Link running under a floor and then ten minutes of the rain sound effect. A nice improvement to the old run but I am voting no.
except for the fact that the run is a little over three and a half minutes long

Your hand must of slipped onto your keyboard and done something bizarre for that to happen. It's really simple, to use, just go to the visualboy advance forums and download the rerecording version, then download the ROM, start up VBA, load the ROM up, then start playback. Your post reminds me of a bash.org quote

Just finished watching the WIP, and I am really impressed with the progress that's been made. I remember playing this as a kid and finding it really hard. I finally beat the first boss, only to have him tell me that I needed to race all four courses again, and win too. Of course I was something like twelve then too. Having watched the SDA speedrun, which is pretty impressive in and of itself (it has the same goals as yours) I have to say that I'm really looking forward to seeing the next few levels. I was wondering, though, can't you honk your horn to make the wizard warp over to you? It's been a long time since I played.

Jabo's 1.6. WIP was good Sami... I was going to encode the wips of this run, but the levels are too long. mupen encoding high quality on my computer is about 5 frames per second, so anything longer than 2 minutes of .m64 takes FOREVER.
Thanks, it works good now. I just finished watching the WIP and it's coming along really well, I was shocked to see you didn't die at the bottom of clanker's cavern :P. It always used to take me something like seven attempts when I was a kid to get all the notes and turn the key three times.
