Progressive projection can be funny. And revealing. You're mad enough to request the entire topic be locked. As for me, anyone can judge for themselves whether my posts are those of anyone even remotely upset by the same tiresome, unoriginal, predictable progressive rhetoric we've all heard ad naseum for the last 10-15 years, as the US (and your specific state of California) continues to spiral further and further down the drain. Note, of course, how desperate Samsara was to distract from all the disasters going on in California, all of which can be traced to progressive policies, and none of which have anything to do with "bigots", especially since California has had a Democrat super-majority for a long time now.

Dude, pointing-and-shrieking "Bigot! Bigot!" at anyone disagreeing with you isn't going to keep working when your wonderful "progressive" (ie communist) policies keep turning California further and further into a miserable hellhole. At present, the state has -Rolling blackouts. -Major water shortages/droughts. -Another small business killing lockdown. -Almost half of America's homeless. -Insane spikes in crime of all kind, including murders. -This past summer, a bunch of runaway wildfires that destroyed dozens of communities and made it unhealthy to even breath the air outside, a combination of environmental policies and Antifa arson. -Crippling debt into the tens of billions. -Mass exodus of businesses and long-time residents to other states. And it's going to get much, much worse. Governor Newsom, fresh off partying with lobbyists (all without a mask) at the French Laundry, has already announced his support for "reparations". I'm sure all the whites, Hispanics, and Asians will be thrilled about paying taxes to blacks or black organizations. Again, shouting "bigot!" at anyone who is tired of this glorious progressive utopia isn't going to work for much longer.
...do you realize the nonsensical things that you're spewing for pseudo-intellectual clout points are the reason why things haven't changed throughout time?
So none of those are happening right now in California? Care to point out which ones? Again, you can only hand-wave away the horrors and misery of progressive policies for so long while focusing on those evil "bigots" (or "capitalist saboteurs" as they were known in the Soviet Union).

If you are unwilling to read, I don't see you contributing much to this discussion any time at all.
So the official Black Lives Matter website, written by various Black Lives Matter leaders, in no way, shape, or form represents Black Lives Matter according to you. On the flipside, a single cop effectively represents all cops, right? (Again, I'm very negative towards cops as a whole, so it gives me no pleasure to partially defend them) Unlike you, I'm very happy that you're contributing to this discussion. I know that other progressives won't mind the blatant hypocrisy since they learn to accept hypocrisy with their mother's milk (the famous "2 plus 2 equals 4 but occasionally 5" from 1984), but for those who aren't progressives, your posts are more effective than anything I can write myself.

Keep in mind that this didn't happen in the 1992 LA riots; https://www.frontpagemag.com/point/2020/06/la-rabbi-black-lives-matter-pogrom-was-daniel-greenfield/
In Los Angeles, Congregation Beth Israel's walls were defaced with graffiti reading, "F___ Israel" and "Free Palestine".
Locals reported thugs shouting, "F___ Jews" at them. While too many Modern Orthodox organizations, including the OU and RCA, have issued statements pandering to the racist Black Lives Matter movement, and too many local synagogues have joined the anti-police mob, a Chabad Rabbi has some strong words for the ugly hatred on display in Los Angeles with the full complicity of the authorities.

Politifact, seriously? You might as well tell me what your neighbor's dog has to say on the matter. At least it's less likely to be an absurd lie. Lefty Jewish organizations support BLM because they're lefties first and foremost. Same reason Lefty Jewish organizations support Ilhan Omar, the BDS movement in general (whose stated goal is the destruction of Israel), decry Israel as evil and racist, Hamas (whose charter calls for the elimination of all Jews worldwide), etc. Incidentally, there were no shortage of German Jews in the 1930's who supported the National Socialist party, either. I guess the Nazis weren't anti-semitic, either? Pretty pathetic attempt at Jew-washing. Yes, BLM hates Jews, whether in the US or in Israel. It's an anti-Semitic hate group. Own it.
- Black Lives Matter is more of a diverse movement than a top-down organization, so it’s difficult to flatly state what Black Lives Matter beliefs are.
This is comical. They have a website where they outline their policies very clearly. No leader within the organization has disputed calling themselves Marxists, calling for an end to the nuclear family, or supporting the BDS movement.
Do you actually have anything to add to the conversation or are you deliberately smearing? 'Cause right now you're smearing shit.
This is projection of the worst kind. The same guy who argues that the cops (who I dislike as a whole, incidentally) are a bunch of bloodthirsty racist killers who start firing their guns the moment they see a minority is now pointing and shrieking at me stating facts that Black Lives Matter admits themselves.

Political statements don’t belong in submission messages, especially if they are presented in forms of preaching. The same situation applies to religious statements. For example, if I had prefixed one or more of my submissions back in the day with this paragraph or something similar to it, how would you feel? ---- IMPORTANT MESSAGE You only have one life, and it may end at any moment. Tomorrow you might be run over by a car, or just have a brain aneurysm. Have you considered what happens after you die? Eternity is a long time. Not a small question. It is the most important question ever asked. In the Bible, Jesus said “whoever follows me shall have everlasting life”, and, “whoever is not obedient to the Son, shall not see life, but will have wrath of God upon them”. Jesus was and is the creator of the world, and will be the one who will eventually judge the eternal fate of every single person who ever lived, including you. Those whom he never knew, will be judged according to their deeds. And according to Romans 3:23, every single person who ever lived has transgressed against His will. Which side of the judgment will you be on? Jesus loves you and does not wish you to perish. He only wants you to repent your sins and to follow Him. Heed those words, and you shall be saved from the consequences of your own sinful nature. ---- I could easily say that I feel completely justified posting this. It is the most important question of your life ever, and under no circumstances reminding you of it can be wrong. Furthermore, not reminding you of that would be million times worse than not telling you that your house is on fire when it’s on fire. That’s the thing with politics and religion. Everyone thinks they are right about it and that everyone else’s viewpoints are objectively wrong. I have expressed my views about the BLM movement elsewhere, but regardless of my views on the topic, I can state that exactly as much as it would have been wrong for me to put those kind of messages in my TASVideos submissions, it is equally wrong to put political petitions in TASVideos submissions. It’s just not the right place for it.
One of the most troubling aspects of Social Justice/Progressivism is that it's the worst kind of religion. Namely, one that doesn't realize it's a religion. Even the most zealous Christian/Muslim/Jew understands, on some level, that they're following a specific belief system, and not everyone else in the world does. With Social Justice/Progressivism, there is no recognition whatsoever. Every single issue, even economics and tax rates, becomes "human rights, brah!" and if you disagree, that must naturally mean you're an evil bigot, an ignorant moron, or both. Incidentally, upthorn's submission text does violate the site's rules against hate speech. Black Lives Matter is a very political group that proudly identifies as "Marxist" and seek, among other things, to end the nuclear family. (All on their website) More to the point, they're virulently anti-Semitic, blame Jews for most of what's wrong in the US (a quality they share with many "far right" groups), especially as oppressors of blacks, and want to destroy Israel through the BDS movement. So upthorn is blatantly promoting an anti-Semitic group, unknowingly or not.

There is nothing in the numerator of that expression that is a clear indication that it will be divisible by six, yet it is regardless.
2n3 + 3n2 + n = (2n2 + n)(n + 1) = n(2n + 1)(n + 1) I think it's obvious that either n or n + 1 will be divisable by 2. Then remains to see that at least one term is divisable by 3. There are three cases: 1) n = 3k 2) n = 3k + 1 3) n = 3k + 2 In the first case the first term (n) will be divisable by three, in the last case the third term (n + 1) will be divisable by three. In the second case, we can show that 2n + 1 = 6k + 2 + 1 = 3(2k + 1) which is again, divisable by 3. As at least one term is divisable by 2, and another by 3, the result will be divisable by 6. The proof is rather long, but I find the result to be at least somewhat intuitive, looking at the numerator.
A more straightforward solution would be using induction. For the base case, n=1, we have n*(n+1)*(2n+1)/6 = 6/6 = 1. For the step of induction, if for n = k, then k (2k +1) (k+1) = (k+1) (2k^2 + k) (1) But for n = k + 1, the expression in the numerator is simply (k+1) (2(k+1)+1) (k+1+1) = (k+1) (2k^2+7k+6) = (k+1)(2k^2 + k) + (k+1)(6k+6)= (k+1)(2k^2+k) +6(k+1)^2 (2) We see that the first term in (2) is simply (1), and thus divisable by 6. The second term in (2) is of the form 6x, and thus also divisable by 6. Their sum is thus also divisable by 6. Hence, n = k+1 is also divisable by 6.

Despite being a mathematician/economist, it's amusing that I have mostly met famous athletes! But okay, on a science front, I met Nobel Prize winner Steven Chiu after my team in high school won a Science Bowl competition. He gave an absolutely fantastic speech about his life. Sadly, while he was a fantastic physicist, he was an atrocious politician whose corruption/scam with Solyndra should rightly have landed him in prison. He should have taken Einstein's advice, who was once offered the position of Israeli prime minister, but turned it down, stating that he would rather be a good scientist than a bad politician! I briefly met Noam Elkies back in high school, as well as various world-class scientists during my undegrad at Caltech (Kip Thorne is probably the most famous), but those weren't as noteworthy. In terms of sports, I have met a few professional basketball players who have mutual friends and worked out in nearby gyms. Most significant were Ryan Anderson and Aaron Afflalo. Oddly enough, I have never met Jeremy Lin, even though we went to near-by Bay Area high schools at the same time, and have a few friends in common. I have met a lot of mixed martial artists/BJJ guys; Karo Parisyan, Manny Gamburyan, Jean-Jacques Machado, Jens Pulver, Marcelo Garcia, Mac Danzig, Daniel Cormier, etc. Everyone I just mentioned was an absolute sweetheart; really polite and easy-going. Sadly, I have yet to meet my idols Gegard Mousasi or Fedor Emelianenko. :( Oh, and from chess, I have met a lot of grandmasters who probably aren't famous, as well as Garry Kasparov back in the day. Amusingly, newly-crowned world champion Magnus Carlsen was in the Bay Area recently, and one of my friends got to meet him. I didn't, and am slightly jealous of that fact. Then again, my friend is a GM, whereas I'm just a lowly Expert...

I will second this. There is a lot of bullshit in the game aside from the killer difficulty (jump inputs don't work if you press a direction at the same frame, increased number of bullets if you dare to pause, vital heart containers can DESPAWN), and the last level includes one-frame glitch jumps that you NEED to pass the room before the boss. I could never beat Holy Diver, and I HAVE beaten both Battletoads and Ghosts N' Goblins.

I don't think that would be considered an impressive movie. You could do that for any game. The technical value here comes from manipulating the computer to lose quickly.
In that case, could I do a "playaround" TAS of this game? I will try to make it as entertaining as possible! (Oh, and I will answer your next question. There are a few glitches that I know, along with an Easter egg involving the Konami code.)
You can certainly try. Whether it will be considered entertaining enough to get published, however, is a far more difficult question.

Very interesting. If you managed such a large improvement so quickly and easily, why not TAS this game yourself?

I'm surprised people are pointing to only currently published runs. Don't get me wrong; many of them are amazing and deserve to be on there, but the movies that really hooked me were many of the original ones, BEFORE there were awesome TAS tools, a wealth of information on every game, great previous runs to reference and learn from, etc. Like, nowadays, any decent high school physics students knows far more about the subject than Galileo ever did. Does that mean that the student should be considered a greater physicist than Galileo was? No. 1. [668] NES Super Mario Bros. 3 "warps" by Morimoto in 11:03.95 Little explanation needed. The most famous and influential TAS of all time. Most of us would have never heard or known about TAS or become members of this site if it wasn't for Morimoto. Hell, I think it was a major inspiration for Bisqwit starting the site. 2. [126] SNES Super Castlevania IV by Phil, Genisto in 31:15.70 To this day, my single favorite TAS ever, of one of my favorite games growing up. For its time, this TAS was absolutely sensational. No on improved it for OVER 7 YEARS, despite being a popular game in a famous franchise. Ultimately, it took a collaboration of 4 amazing speed-runners, including possibly the single best CV TAS'er ever (arukado) to create a run that shaved off less than 2 minutes in a 31 minute movie. If that's not a testament to how amazing and ahead of its time it was, I don't know what is. 3. [1017] N64 Super Mario 64 "0 stars" by SwordlessLink & Mitjitsu in 05:47.37 This was a very difficult choice, since the previous versions were incredible as well, and the runs that have since improved upon it are also spectacular. Really, there are a wealth of talented TAS'ers who have contributed to the perfection of this run. I just chose this one since it represented such a major step, going from 1 star to 0 stars, something that seems so crazy at first. I'll figure out 4-10 later on in this topic...

Forgive me if this has been answered already, as I only read through the first five pages of posts, but while I like this idea and voted "Yes", MESHUGGAH had a very valid concern; "making slower TASes (making entertainment/speed tradeoff as much as you are under the WR time) will gets the higher tier while a very fast TAS of the same game that for example skips the "best" parts of it will be gets a lower tier because of lack of entertainment" This is indeed a potential problem here, though one can argue that it already exists in a smaller form.

I watched his video titled "WTF Is... : Revelations 2012 ?" (his newest video on that series) and it was... hmm... unimpressive. I'm not saying it was bad (I have seen considerably worse), I'm just not feeling the awesomeness that you convey in your post when describing his videos. Now, it's perfectly possible that I just happened to choose one of his weakest videos and that I shouldn't judge his entire work based on that alone (and I'm definitely going to check at least a half dozen more), but the first impression was not all that great, for me at least. (It might also just be a question of personal preference.)
While I love it overall, the WTF is... series can be very hit and miss. It's a first impressions video of a game, after all. Sometimes it's fun and informative, other times it's not. The first video I watched by TotalBiscuit was this and I really fell in love with his mailbox series. I should also note that while I often find TB funny, he is not primarily a comedic commentator, like say Yahtzee. So if you're looking solely for laughs, he is not ideal. But yeah, definitely watch another video or two before you make up your mind on him.

Anyway, TotalBiscuit
As far as I'm concerned, TotalBiscuit puts everyone else to shame. His Mailbox and WTF is... series are a must watch. In fact, I have been watching TB's videos like a fiend for the last 4 months, and they have completely and irrevocably spoiled me. I can no longer watch other gaming commentaries. Thanks to TB, I expect the commentator to have a good voice, be an articulate speaker, have crisp audio and high-quality video, do extensive research and preparation before answering a gaming-related question or even doing playthrough, be witty and entertaining, and most importantly, provide intelligent, well-thought out answers. It's rare that a Youtube gaming personality possesses even two of these qualities, let alone all of them. I will also mention that I occasionally watch Pat the NES Punk. While he is nothing special or amazing, his reviews and Flea Market Madness series are generally quite amusing and informative. My impressions of some of the other gaming personalities; Yahtzee- The first video I saw by him, I thought he was hilarious and brilliant. By the tenth video, I thought he was okay, nothing special. By the 30th video, the whole thing seemed so tired and pathetic, I haven't bothered to watch anything else. The problem is, he repeats the same criticisms over and over again, like mad libs, regardless of whether they apply to the game in question or not. He doesn't really do "reviews" nor are they particularly informative, especially since he frequently admits to only playing an hour or two of the title. And there are certain gaming genres, like fighting games, where he is hilariously inept. Thus, the only thing you have is the comedy. Which at first, is great. But as he re-uses the same jokes and visuals over and over and over and over, it becomes worn-out and tiresome. It doesn't help that I played a few of the amateur games that he designed himself...and they were completely awful. Roo- Okay. I have fond memories of many of the games he reviews, so I can watch his overly long, information-light videos. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't like them. Spoony- Garbage. Angry Video Game Nerd- Meh. I have a hard time of thinking anything to say about these videos, positive or negative. It's like a normal piece of rye bread; it's not tasty or memorable, but if you're hungry, you'll eat it in a pinch.
