Haha, you're funny. Look at my location, and then think about your suggestion (and no, I am no implying I have a boyfriend) If you want to read up on Vermont girls, take out a dictionary, and look up "cow"

My car needs it oil changed, but I am too lazy to do it myself, and too poor to have anyone else do it. Any suggestions?

2 quick questions First, when you kill the enemy on the ladder and collect the item with the pet, why do you wait on the ladder for it before going down? Can't you go down and the item will fall down onto you? Also, when you are going to kill the dragon with the boy, and you drop down the tall latter near the main entrance, why do you land on the block first on the bottom screen and then drop again? Why not just drop all the way down the first time? But it was an awesome watch! Especially when you had like 5 speed scrolls stacked on the pet. Wow.

I mean, what if you get him down to 1 hit left, then wait for him to come out?

When you are killing the first boss, if I recall, you loose half the money to the wall; wouldn't it be faster to wait for him to come away from the wall and get twice the money then to fight him twice?

I still think you should, if possible, kill lavos in 12,000 BC in the underwater palace... but people may not consider that a completion of the game, as you do not get the normal ending this way (I forget which one you do get)

It's funny. I have a friend, and I have shown him some of the speed runs from this site. I don't pretend that they were done by a person sitting in front of a tv or nything; I flat out tell him: yes, slowdowns were used, and save states were used. Then he proceeds to get upset by something that is humanly impossible. The best example of this was when he was viewing on of the metroid runs. The author killed Kraid with the blaster, shotting him so fast that he was frozen. My friend started yelling about how cheap that was and the like. My point is, I dont see why people get upset. It's not like anyone is pretending to do something they are not. I have always felt that the purpose of tool-assisted runs was to find the fastest completion of a game allowed by the game its self. The slowness of the human hand is a setback. Besides, if I were to see someone play metroid, on an NES, and beat the game in about 15 minutes, I would be far, far more impressed then with the tool assisted run of 13:31. People just need to stop putting speed runs and time attacks into the same catagory. Time attacks should be respected for their artistry and visual appeal. Speed runs should be respected for their proof of amazing human accomplishment. Yes, I realize I havent added anything new to this conversation. But I hope I emphasized some arguments.

21.1 Don't forget: the average age increases every day, as each member ages. Use calculous to factor in the rate of change in ages, along with when each age was posted.... or something And for the record, I turned 21 on Nov. 14th, after this thread was created, but before I posted.

Myst- the live action movie! Watch as a man who is mute wanders around an island for 3 days, solving all kinds of puzzles, only to find out he's stuck on the island and the other islands that the books can warp him to until the next movie!

But who says only one of them can get a star? Look at SMB1 and SMB2 (US) and SMB3. All 3 of them have star runs.

In all fairness, most people watching the video won't even glance at the score. I say just go for speed.

Oh, I see.... Well, Bisqwit, hold on to that star; I want to see it when the perfected (read: improved) video comes out next :p

...I think should be given a star. Play the game, and tell me his run is not extraordinarily good. Now, I realize the stars are for particular amazing videos only, but I am a huge fan of the game, and have beaten it many times, and I found it much more amazing then the super mario brothers movie (although the shortness of the SMB run is definately astonishing). I will say that I am not an expert when it comes to recognizing subtle sloppiness; and I encourage people to come out and give me a good reason why this should not get a star; but if no one does, I encourage Bisqwit to give this movie a star.

Maybe you should go for a SNES run then? That would be interesting (and for those with short atention spans, the missing levels will make the movie much shorter).

You sure there isn't a command to give control of the screen to another player? I know in a SNES 2 player game, pressling L&R switched who the screen followed, but I dont know about Genesis.

I voted yes, because the 2 player handling was simply amazing. I think an improved run couldn't shave more then 2 or 3 seconds off of this 50 minute run, which is quite impressive. I saw a few times where I think Eric could have jumped a tad earlier, I think, but I could be wrong. It was worth the watch, though.

Question: is there any particular reason people are doing runs on the JU version of the rom? Is there something about it that allows for slightly faster runs?
