I'm pretty sure that using frame advance and the combination of the cheetah and the animal that boosts your abilities(I forgot which one is) you can make pretty neat time savers by jumping over ledges, in the movie I posted there's a very small sb in the "heaven" stage, by jumping through a hole you're not supposed to you can skip part of the dungeon.

Looks very good so far, this should obselete the old run even if slower because the old run is full of small mistakes.

The movie is not there anymore. I would like to see it.
I just reuploaded it, be warned though, it's the most boring thing you'll ever watch.

I don't know, I don't think this particular movie would get published. You didn't slide as often as possible, your movements weren't as optimized as possible, the boss fights weren't done frame perfect. You could easily beat this movie by seconds, but the game is also somewhat boring and very repetitive. I'd call this a good test run; if it was remade frame-precise then it could be an alright movie. Good luck with it
Did you see the date of the movie? There was no frame advance function back then IIRC.

I don't know of any speed run of this game, but I do know about a site which hosts video walkthroughs of some spectrum games and it has a walkthru for both Rick Dangerous and it's only sequel. There: http://www.rzxarchive.co.uk/

Are you sure you're not mistaking X8 for X7? I can't say that X8 was the best Capcom game for 2004 (that's RE4) but it is indeed a pretty good and fun game, hard, very hard but not frustrating as you say, play Viewtiful Joe to see what frustration is.

Maybe someone could continue what is already done, if I recall correctly, there's only 3 things left to do, get to the last town, talk to someone, retreat a few towns, buy a 50000 kim key the slay the last boss.

As someone said, don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today XD. Edit: Just saw it, and, what can I say?, that was the coolest videogame movie I've seen in a long time. The things I was surprised the most were, in no particular order, the way you skip the bush in Peloponnesus without using an enemy to give you a boost, the way you managed the Hydra to always get out at the same place, going right then left when getting an object to gain acceleration, using the harp airborne in order to save time, NOT using the harp to kill Harpy (I tried and couldn't) and when I saw the way you managed Cerberus I just had to take my hat off, congratulations, will you be doing "The Adventure of Link" next?

You did bosses faster? I really can't wait to see what you did. I would suggest you more time-saving try outs but there are not too many things I didn't try, I even tried to lure a monkey to push me to the limit of the screen where you would normally ride the dolphin to see if I could make the screen scroll without the dolphin therefore without buying the ocarina.

One other desperate maneuver that I tried was to use the FCEU frame counter to see how many frames into the screen the entrance to Tartarus is. With the pink sky activated, but not the way to Tartarus, I checked to see if the Tartarus door was actually there, but just invisible. However, this idea did not seem to work.
I tried doing this manually using Famtasia but either the door is not there, the door scenery is actually a different one or it's only if you're standing on the ground that you can enter doors. One possible improvement using frame advance is killing cerberus without it actually regenerating heads (or at least not that much), getting faster the olives is obviously where the most time can be shaved but still a pain, I tried also to beat the whole game without any weapon upgrade but it's just impossible to beat cerberus without at least the sword and you can't skip it either, it can be beaten extremely fast with the strongest sword but you have to spend many time getting olives to afford the buy. Did you find any scenery where you could jump out of the screen?? Maybe an effect like the one in Adventure of Link(the one using fairy out of the screen I think) could be triggered so you enter tartarus without any of the hearts. Really can't wait to see this one and see what I overlooked.

Would a DC emulator be able to play legit DC games? IE you put your CD into the tray and could play it that way?
Maybe if you could plug a GD-reader in your computer it would, by now, Chankast can only play pirate copies.

I started a save-state run of this game that I've been playing since I was a child and I found interesting enough stuff to consider making a movie so I went for it. It's an action-adventure-rpg game that takes you on a quest to claim a kingdom from some evil king, the game, if played without cheating is hard as hell unless you do certain tricks that allow you to have super strenght or being inmune to almost any attack. I will only use the super strenght one as it is the only thing you need to flash through the game, at first I tried is to get straight to the final boss without taking any quest but there's no way to do it, you need to get at least 3 of the game's quests done in order to advance, in this movie I cover about 60% of the game in 53 minutes, if all goes as expected, it won't last more than 20-30 more minutes, but it won't be in the near future. Although playing the game is fun watching the movie is a pain in the rear so use it at your own risk XD. The movie can be downloaded here:http://usuarios.lycos.es/amstradpics/

I don't think it would be published, it's way too long to make an avi of it, not even a 269 meg file would be enough to make it look good...

You did a good job with the "diamond planning" , I was wondering, can the glitch be done so you warp from the first stage to another instead of how you did it??, also. wasn't there in the game an axe power up that is an upgrade to the dagger of throwing?? I haven't played this game in years but I recall it being way more powerful than the dagger.
