Yeah sure I guess we can do that. Not that it's looking like there's a lot of interest though. Because I've never heard of either of those before.

Okay, yeah. Looks like there's no actual interest for it here, but it was worth a try. Thanks for reading! Let's try it like Pokota suggested: This is now a signup thread. If interest is as low as it seemed before it's not like doing signups rather than just an interest check will change the end result of "we're not playing". So, to explain further how it's going to work - there are two types of players, the townies and the mafia. The mafia know who each other are, and their goal is to kill all the townies. Usually, the amount of mafia is 20-25% of the total number of players. In a game with 10 players, there would likely be three mafia. In a game with 20 players, there would be five mafia. In a game with 32 players, there would be eight mafia. Sometimes, the mafia gets some special roles. One that tends to be included is the godfather, who really only has the special ability that he detects as a townie when investigated by a detective (more on that in the next section), but also functions as the leader of the mafia, the person who tells the host what the mafia does. The townies don't know who anyone is and their goal is to kill all the mafia and to try to avoid getting killed. To help with this, there are certain special townies, with roles such as detective who can investigate players to learn of their roles, bodyguard (sometimes called doctor) who can prevent someone from getting killed and vigilante who can kill (sometimes a limited amount of times) at night. These are the three most common special townie roles, but there's a ton of potential roles that can be included, so you can be certain there will be more. I have, at this point in time, not decided exactly what roles will be included in the introductionary game. When I host, I tend to put in some kind of unique thing for each game, though it often depends on the theme of the game and if we do start playing here, the first one will be unthemed, quite vanilla and just be town vs. mafia. With a Film Noir style, I think, but that'll really only affect the narrative. The game is divided into two phases, night and day. During the night phase, the mafia tells the host in PM who they are going to kill, and all special townies PMs the host with their actions (or lack of actions, sometimes they don't want to act). During night, talk in the thread should be kept to a minimum. The day phase begins with the host announcing who died during the night and revealing what their role was. Following that, the town discusses things, and attempts to figure out who the mafia are, based on the information they have, who seems suspicious, and a variety of things. During the day phase, players may vote on who they wish to lynch, and at the end of the phase, the player who has received the most votes will be lynched, and in most cases this means they die. This is the primary, and sometimes only, way the townies have to actually kill the mafia. In forum mafia, at least in my experience, these phases are usually set to last 24 hours each, but phases can sometimes be ended early, such as a night phase ending if all actions get sent in long before the deadline, or a day phase ending early if there is a clear majority towards lynching someone. Day phases are however more likely to be allowed to last the full 24 hours no matter what, though. The best way to learn the game is to play it, so if you have any interest at all in it, do sign up! If you wish to sign up, simply start a numbered list. And then the next person copies that list and adds themselves at the end. Numbered and the full list in every signup post so that it will be easier to see exactly how many are signed up at any given time. So yeah. Not entirely sure how many players I want, but the more the merrier. And a multiple of four is the best. --- Original post: You may have heard of Mafia, also known as Werewolf. It's a pretty fun game. If you haven't heard of it before, the short of it is that there's a small group of bad guys who know each other who try to kill a larger group of good guys who are mostly in the dark about who's who. It's also a game that can be played online, and was recently mentioned in #tasvideos, thus sparking a short discussion about possibly playing one or a few games here. I've played quite a number of Forum Mafia games and have hosted myself on multiple occasions, and as such I offer to take care of hosting duties for at the very least the first game we play here. But before I actually say anything more about playing, I need to check: Is there any actual interest in playing Forum Mafia here? Need to know that enough people are interested in playing to even try to host it here. It's easy to learn and get into, so don't worry if you've never played it before! This is not a signup thread. If enough (I decide what's enough) people make it known that they're interested and would actually play if a game does get started, then there'll be a new thread with actual signups and more detailed rules for the forum variety, as well as the intended theme (because it's always more fun if there's a theme, even if it doesn't actually affect gameplay). So if you're up for it, let me know!

Marceline is a good character but my favourite AT character remains Princess Bubblegum. She's by far the most complex character on the show and is great because she's a literally pink princess who doesn't conform to any stereotypes that description might normally imply. Marcy is a definite second though. Also yes, Garnet is easily best SU character and cemented that position for herself forever with Jailbreak. Since it's just ten episodes, I've been kind of considering giving Over the Garden Wall a watch. I hear it's good.

Guess I should post my Adventure Time (best cartoon! Well, not counting South Park) recommended episodes list here too. List is now complete, because all seasons of AT have aired. - Evicted! The episode that's the best episode would not be the best if you're watching it on its own because it needs context to actually be the best, but Thank You works very well on its own. I also do have a list for Steven Universe, but it's less a recommended episodes list and more a list of episodes to watch if you want to get into the show but don't feel like watching all of it. Basically episodes needed to not miss anything. It's similar but not identical to list posted above: Season 1 episodes to watch - 01 Gem Glow - 02 Laser Light Cannon - 07 Bubble Buddies - 10 Steven's Lion - 12 Giant Woman - 16 Steven the Sword Fighter - 17 Lion 2: The Movie - 19 Rose's Room - 20 Coach Steven - 24 An Indirect Kiss - 25 Mirror Gem - 26 Ocean Gem - 35 Lion 3: Straight to Video - 36 Warp Tour - 37 Alone Together - 40 On the Run - 44 Marble Madness - 45 Rose's Scabbard - 46 The Message - 47 Political Power - 48 The Return - 49 Jailbreak And once season 2 rolls around, just watch it all. Jailbreak is easily the best SU episode but also an episode that requires context, SU is not a show where you can just dive in whereever.

So we have a pony thread here and that one's obviously staying. But there's so much more than the ponies to be had in today's cartoon world. There have been some attempts at individual show threads but they never really got going, so let's instead have a thread about all of the cartoons. Cartoons, such as... This list will no longer be updated
Whaaaaat time is it? In the Land of Ooo, there's a lot of adventures to be had. Actually named "Adventure Time with Finn and Jake", but even if Finn and Jake are still what should be considered the main characters a lot of episodes don't even feature them outside of the intro. Has a large cast of many other interesting characters, such as scientist-ruler Princess Bubblegum, adorable robot/video game system BMO, vampire queen Marceline and not entirely effectual bad guy Ice King. Was fairly good from the start, but really got going with season 3.
In a world where humans and anthropomorphic animals live side by side, BoJack Horseman, the washed-up star of the 1990s sitcom Horsin' Around, plans his big return to celebrity relevance with a tell-all autobiography that he dictates to his ghostwriter Diane Nguyen. BoJack also has to contend with the demands of his agent and on-again-off-again girlfriend Princess Carolyn, the misguided antics of his freeloading roommate Todd Chavez, and his frenemy Mr. Peanutbutter, who is also Nguyen's boyfriend.
An animated adaptation of the popular video game series, airing as a Netflix exclusive. When his wife is burned at the stake after being falsely accused of witchcraft, the vampire Count Dracula declares all the people of Wallachia will pay with their lives. He summons an army of demons which overruns the country, causing the people to live lives of fear and distrust. To combat this, the outcast monster hunter Trevor Belmont takes up arms against Dracula's forces, aided by the magician Sypha Belnades and Dracula's dhampir son Alucard.
A reboot of the classic show, the new DuckTales - commonly referred to as DuckTales (2017) - brings it into the modern era. While it of course still features all your favourite ducks, including Scrooge McDuck and his three grandnephews, this iteration of DuckTales also involves the mostly missing from the original series Donald, a couple of entirely new faces, and redesigns for a lot of the familiar ones. It also tries to stick a bit closer to the comics than the old show did, namely those by Carl Barks and Don Rosa.
For their summer vacation, 12-year-old twins Dipper and Mabel Pines are dropped off from their home in California to the fictitious town of Gravity Falls to live with their Great Uncle. Things are not what they seem in this small town, and with the help of a mysterious journal that Dipper finds in the forest, they realize that their everyday lifestyle has changed.
The animated incarnation of the fourth generation of the popular toyline. Socially awkward unicorn pony Twilight Sparkle is sent off from the grand capital of Canterlot to the small town of Ponyville to learn about friendship. At least that's how it started once upon a time and is quite different now. Once the internet's darling with a fandom mostly consisting of the teritary audience, now considered by many to be past its prime. The first two seasons are fairly agreed on to be the best ones, with the decline starting in season 3.
Two half-brothers, Wirt and Greg, become lost in a strange forest called the Unknown. In order to find their way home, the two must travel across the, apparently magic, forest with the help of the wise, elderly Woodsman and Beatrice, an irritable bluebird who travels with the boys in order to find the woman of Unknown called Adelaide, that can undo the curse and make the half-brothers go back to their home.
Rick is an eccentric, elderly, alcoholic scientist who has moved in with his horse surgeon daughter Beth's family. He spends most of his time taking his young grandson Morty on dangerous, outlandish adventures throughout the cosmos and alternate universes. Compounded with Morty's already unstable family life, these events cause Morty much distress at home and school.
A real longrunner that debuted in 1997. With a deliberately crude animation style (it started as cutout animation, and is now computer animation that looks like it's cutout animation), it was one of the early "adult" animated shows. While it's often thought of as infamous for its toilet humour and the like, it's actually often fairly poignant and can amidst the insanity have some pretty good points. Has a very short production time for episodes, which has lead to some episodes over the years where plots have been literally taken from the headlines.
Star Butterfly is a magical princess from the dimension of Mewni who, on her 14th birthday, receives the family heirloom wand. However, after she accidentally sets fire to her castle, her parents decide that a safer option is to send her to Earth as a foreign exchange student.
Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl are lesbian space rocks the Crystal Gems, who protect the earth and especially their hometown Beach City from a variety of threats that mostly consist of gem monsters. Also a part of the team is young Steven Quartz Universe, a half-human half-gem who has inherited his mother Rose Quartz's powers but don't have perfect control over them yet. Rose used to be their leader, but she had to give up her physical form to give birth to Steven (it's complicated, okay). Steven does what he can to get the hang of his powers and be a useful part of the team, as well as dealing with the kind of stuff a kid his age normally would. Notable for being Cartoon Network's first show created by a woman (Rebecca Sugar, who previously was on the Adventure Time staff). Starts out decent, gets really good towards the end of season 1.
The series follows Wander, a nomadic and overly-optimistic intergalactic traveler and his Zbornak best friend and steed Sylvia as they travel from planet to planet helping people to have fun and live free, despite the continuing encroachment of Lord Hater, most powerful villain in the universe, and his army of Watchdogs.
A show that follows three bear brothers: Grizzly, Panda and Ice Bear. During their attempts at integrating with human society, when purchasing food, making human companions or trying to become internet famous, the bears struggle to assimilate the civilized nature of humans. However, in the end, they soon figure out that they have each other for support. Obviously these aren't the only ones we can talk about. If there's some that you believe should be listed here, let me know. And it is never the wrong time to talk about old, classic cartoons! Finally, when it comes to spoilers, the policy is basically "don't be a dick". We have spoiler tags, use them. I've found a good rule of thumb to be to consider an episode to be in spoilerville until the next episode has aired. If the latest episode was the season finale, give it at least a week.

Yeah, it's a great song. Far from the only musical reference too, Art of the Dress is based on "Putting it Together" from Sunday in the Park with George, and At the Gala is based on "Ever After" from Into the Woods. So I've watched the finale now, and one of my beefs with it is that Glimmer had been a complete non-entity between the season opener and the finale. With the way she escaped in the premiere it was obvious she'd be back but not even mentioning her until the finale felt like a missed opportunity. In general, I'd probably call this season better than season 4, but it's still a far cry from what it once was. There were a few legit good episodes, and didn't really have any complete shit episodes like S4 did. Speaking of Art of the Dress, I do like how we got an episode that was a bit of a thematic sequel to Suited for Success with a song that felt like a followup to Art of the Dress. Rarity getting the best solo songs keeps being true, at least. That was one of the actually good episodes of the season, too. ...also when the hell did EQG3 come out. Adventure Time keeps being the best cartoon these days.

I... actually kind of enjoyed that episode. Thematically it felt like kind of a sequel episode to Suited for Success, without being a rehash of the plot. Even the song felt like a followup to Art of the Dress. Got very positively surprised by it.

You still need the Doom 2 wad as the IWAD and use this as the PWAD. "Megawad" is just a community term that means it contains at least 15 maps. So it's a map pack for Doom 2, and not its own game.

Good run, even if the WAD itself seemed to have a bit too much of "let's put a ton of enemies because we can". Those Arch-vile jumps and rocket boosts were sick, and I never thought I'd see "Uses death to save time" in a Doom run. Voting yes. Reading the Doomwiki, it says the Kids route of the final stage is supposed to have 8 Cyberdemons attacking you, but they didn't seem to appear in the run. What was up with that?

Whelp, I caught up. Apparently I picked a good time to do it since it was the mid-season break. Surprisingly nonterrible but nothing's that blown me away so far. Two good episodes, a handful of decents, some bland. But I think my biggest criticism of the season so far is that how the hell do you make an episode that features a Smooze and not have a single character utter the phrase "Nothing can stop the Smooze"? For shame. (even if there was a minor reference to that line.) I mean the Smooze here wasn't anywhere near as cool as the original Smooze but even so. And E13 felt like a plot that really should have been a two-parter, the ending felt rushed.

switching to DS because load times
Well, DS version having less lag would be the real reason, so it would probably make the movie look a little smoother. And the timer in the DS version tracks centiseconds as well whereas SNES only tracks whole seconds, so you could get more accurate ingame times on that version. Definitely looking forwards to seeing these when they're done and submitted, there's so much one can do with this game.

Hmmm, are the physics faithfully ported? The TAS relies on some tricks that I could easily imagine not making over to the DS.
Speaking as someone who was speedrunning it on emulator and switched to the DS version when I got it, from all that I can tell, it's an extremely faithful port. The original developer of the game was even involved, as opposed to the catastrophic PSP port of Shun. I consider it the definite version of both the original game and Shun, since the DS cart has both games. The only gameplay difference I have been able to find at all is that the eggs the tadpole drops have a different pattern in the DS version.

Y'know, if someone is going to make a new Umihara Kawase TAS, it might be an idea to switch to the DS port. It has a slightly smaller viewing area, but much faster loading times and less lag (and a better timer!).

Speedrunning this game myself (DS version), even knowing that's a TAS and having seen it before, some of what he does at the giant enemy crab fight still nearly gives me heart attacks. I need to study these TASes more, even if all of it certainly isn't doable realtime, there were a few things I'm going to have to try. Definitely my favourite speedgame, this.

The whole overarcing thing of season four was that they all had to do that once so *shrug* So I don't know why the FiM wiki feels a need to have a gallery of 317 screenshots for one single episode, but on the other hand that's making it easier for me to find shots to use as karaoke backgrounds, so I guess I'll be okay with that.

I'm not going to say "You quit before it became good", because it was always pretty good, but there's a reason my recommended episodes list (posted in the other thread) only contains five episodes total from the first two seasons. Mortal Folly and Mortal Recoil (two last episodes of Season 2, go figure) really dialed it up. If anything, find and watch the episode "Thank You". It's a great example of how amazing the show can be and definitely unlike anything you already watched of it.

So I just got around to watching the second part of the season finale (watched part one on Monday) and I just I don't even know anymore. I was amazed that they used Tirek, and the initial scene between him and Discord was seriously one of the best scenes in the whole show, but then came the recaps and the stuff and eh. Those rainbowed designs were the single ugliest thing I've ever seen on the whole show. They looked like bad fancomic recolors. Jesus fucking tapdancing Christ. I was also hoping the whole time that Discord was just playing along with Tirek, but I guess there was no chance for that. Season four thus ends with a slightly worse track record than season three, since that had four good episodes out of thirteen and this one had six good out of twenty-six, including the two worst episodes ever. Then again, season three had Magical Mystery Cure and that's worth like three bad episodes.

Besides that, I would look forward to the moment that anyone of the cast walks by the leftovers of the destroyed tree and comments on it. That would be an interesting fanfic to read, come to think of it.
I got the implication that the new thing is where the library used to be. I thought that thing referenced in above spoilers was stupid as shit too. So, well. I could say "I'm done", but I know I'd end up watching season five anyway. They've shown they're still capable of hitting one out of the park as with Maud Pie in this season, but... I don't find anywhere near the enjoyment of the show as I did in seasons one and two. Adventure Time has since long surpassed Friendship is Magic in being a quality cartoon, currently at 160 episodes and subpar episodes are the exception rather than the rule. Okay, so the episodes are half the length of Friendship is Magic episodes, but in most cases that's a good thing and there's very few episodes that have had a pacing problem. Something that can't be said about FiM. Maybe it would benefit from 11-minute episodes too.

Adventure Time is absolutely great. Probably the best cartoon right now. Peebles best character. Marceline second best. There's so many episodes that are just incredible. The whole Ice King character arc that kicks off with Holly Jolly Secrets (S03E19-20) is fantastic. I Remember You (S04E25) is such a strong episode, not to mention Simon and Marcy (S05E14). You'll never view the Cheers theme song the same way again. Other than those, have a list of recommended episodes from me: - Evicted (S01E12) - Guardians of Sunshine (S02E16) - Henchman (S01E22) - Mortal Folly (S02E25) - Mortal Recoil (S02E26) - Conquest of Cuteness (S03E01) - Too Young (S03E05) - What Was Missing (S03E10) - Thank You (S03E17) - Incendium (S03E26) - Hot to the Touch (S04E01) - Goliad (S04E10) - Princess Cookie (S04E13) - Card Wars (S04E14) - Burning Low (S04E16) - B-Mo Noire (S04E17) - Lady & Peebles (S04E19) - The Lich (S04E26) - Finn the Human (S05E01) - Jake the Dog (S05E02) - All the Little People (S05E05) - A Glitch is A Glitch (S05E15) - BMO Lost (S05E17) - Shh! (S05E20) - The Suitor (S05E21) - Be More (S05E28) - Sky Witch (S05E29) - Frost & Fire (S05E30) - Earth & Water (S05E32) - Time Sandwich (S05E33) - The Vault (S05E34) - Blade of Grass (S05E45) - Rattleballs (S05E46) - Betty (S05E48) - Bad Timing (S05E49) - Lemonhope (S05E50-51) - Billy's Bucket List (S05E52) - Wake Up (S06E01) - Escape From the Citadel (S06E02) - James II (S06E03) - The Tower (S06E04) - Sad Face (S06E05) - Food Chain (S06E07) - Something Big (S06E10) - Ocarina (S06E12) - Joshua and Margaret Investigations (S06E16) - Is That You (S06E19) - Jake the Brick (S06E20) - Pajama Wars (S06E23) - Evergreen (S06E24) - Jermaine (S06E33) - Chips and Ice Cream (S06E34) - Orgalorg (S06E40) - On the Lam (S06E41) - Hot Diggity Doom (S06E42) - The Comet (S06E43) Maybe that got a bit long but eh. Edit: Noone asked but added season 6 episodes to the list

Well, that was a horribly fucking stupid episode. Because we totally needed an episode with the lesson "friendship is the most important thing" again.
