Any way to get a non-glitched ending?
Well, it’s ACE, so yes, but I don’t see the point.
For example alternative encodes for glitched and non-glitched ending like [2406] NES Kirby's Adventure "game end glitch" by MESHUGGAH, CoolKirby, Masterjun, MUGG, TASeditor & illayaya in 00:35.91: This movie has two YouTube encodes. The primary version has deliberately glitched ending graphics, whereas the second one displays proper graphics. Both versions have identical input except for the last frame.

Probably I misinterpreted / took literal these sentences, here: Video games rated adult-only, or unrated adult video games with strong sexual content and/or extreme violence to AO-rating standards, are not allowed in any circumstance. --> Thought it means that strong sexual content and/or extreme violence is not allowed in any circumstance. For games with uncensored adult-only versions and censored versions that are rated less than AO, a movie of either version is allowed as long as no uncensored-only content is accessed or visible. --> So it's allowed to use an uncensored adult-only version as long as there's no extra sexual or extreme violence content? What?

Just to reiterate, I only want to find (and maybe figure out) proofs of negativity around SMB movies and/or you.

"warpless" in 18:36.78: 8 out of 74. I see you cancelled because inital no votes. Also some posts that still relevant from that thread: - By Nach: "Don't expect to win everyone over. Some of our members suffer from various issues preventing them from even noticing anything other than raw numbers. However, the focus shouldn't be just for them, they get their numbers either way. " - By Memory: "The question at the top of the page asks the viewer if they found the movie entertaining. It does not ask if the viewer thinks the movie is entertaining to a variety of people nor it does not ask what tier they think it belongs to. Some people may find it not entertaining for seemingly trivial or even personal reasons. Separation of art and artist may be seen as ideal to some but as far as I know is not an explicit requirement for voting. The question of the poll does not care what your reason is, as long as you express your opinion." edit: The post below me by fmp shares the same stuffs I had in my mind, so imagine I wrote something similar like him.

My morning notes... We have a reliable star man and other judges who are capable of understanding both the technical and entertaining sides of a movie. Just saying they could handle this particular award, as the winner of this award probably already won in another category (platform TAS of the year, platform TASer of the year, objective TAS of the year (speed, glitchy etc)).

^ 1.a -> Masterjun had a good point on IRC, that this is about tie-breakers for submitted movies, not for obsoleting a published movie with a newly submitte movie with same time. I guess this case is not allowed, right? 1.b -> Oh, that extra requirement (Need to be a different branch) should be added to the rules in my opinion. 2 -> Still don't know because of contradictions. 1st sentence: [...] are not allowed in any circumstance. "No!" 2nd sentence: uncensored and censored versions [...], either version is allowed as long as no uncensored-only content is accessed or visible. "Okay." 3rd sentence: "For example, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is allowed as long as no Hot Coffee content is seen in it. Not allowed!

I'm looking for answers and clarifications for some minimal questions (probably will post new ones instead of editing) after crawling through the pages of this thread and checking movie rules with my forbidden techs page: 1. Obsoleting published movie without improvement: 1.a - Resubmitting vault movies without improvement but different (entertainment based) input? From Wiki: Vault: Opportunities to entertain the audience where it does not affect time is not a requirement. However, it is encouraged and can be used as a tie-breaker for two equally fast movies. --> I think there should be more preconditions or something. I mean there's for example NES Trojan with constant bunnyhopping, so very little efforts can be done to make it more entertaining, so the resulting submitted movie would be near identical in it's whole. Just want to know more informations before attempting to spam reworked published movies for this goal of bad games. 1.b - What about "vault to moon" attempts? From Wiki: Vault: "It is possible for a faster movie to be published in this category while a slower but "more entertaining" movie is published in another tier." ---> So all I need to is find enough speed/entertainment tradeoffs and be entertaining enough for good comments/views/judge opinion, right? edit: 2. No adult only games allowed Wiki: MovieRules.html#AdultOnlyGamesAreNotAllowed - According to ESRB, there's 27 currently rated as AO, amongst them PC Manhunt 2, so I guess it's on the rejected list? - What about PS3 God Of War 3 (nudity + sex minigame) or other games with strong sexual contents? In this case, not all nudity can be skipped.

Since the title and the post is more about planning and improving the act of TASing, I'm going to minimize discuss about autism. 0. I had the very same issue. - Saw many professional runs, everyone is crazy fast, and my movies are... "slow". But this is not a problem. Games are different, as well as TASes and TASers. TASes and TASers also subject to change and their value increases over time. - Don't be afraid. My never ending aim for perfectionism definitely didn't helped with this. But the reaction (messages, votes, discusison) of users of this community gave me confidence and also somewhat makes me feel easier. 1. Find and stick to a workplan. Higly game and TAS dependent. - TASing in smaller but bigger time blocks - TASing in multiple but smaller time blocks - The aim is getting the fine rations and scheduling your efforts between: Time (to have for tasing) : Value time (time spent with productivity) : TASing (actual process). You can try smaller games or straightforward TASes. 2. Same as my comments for 0 but extra comment: "All you need to discover a list of conditions and pull it out as best as you can. This means you need to talk the same language as well as hearing it." 3. As long as you are dedicated or having fun with it, don't try to force yourself to "more famous" games just for the sake of getting more popular. I think TASing has it's own amazing and terrible moments with different durations while creating your work of art. 4. I think everyone has strengths and weakness. Which comes with it's limits as well. - You can be the greatest social human ever: But not enough time to have private time, training. - The best developer of all time: But not enough experience to raise your child (as not a program with two legs). Both examples have very simple solution but it comes with sacrifices and it's more of a journey than "go to shop today". You need to work for it. Extra note: I also have various disabilities that seems totally contradicting compared to what I can achieve: - I type very fast on keyboard, my own personal best is 720~780 char/sec without error (used that old typingfast site). I write with pencils, pens, anything very very slow. I just can't fathom with what factors I need to improve or how to understand my own slowness. I also have OK physical body, I just simply have this limitation. - I usually learn very fast, which comes from both lightning reading (sight reading and finding out the context by the cloud of words and sentences beginning and end) edit: and the ever increasing experience of learning various logics. However there are topics that's very similar to an already learnt technique and just simply can't understand it's basics no matter how many times and how slow I read like coroutines in general (how to yield values in Lua for example).

Mari0 - The changed graphics were a really nice touch! And of course Masterjun and noahkiq are a beast! I liked the "no commentary" thing. CV all souls - Good TAS and good commentary, I liked it :) Scribblenauts - Fucking awesome :) Also bonus points for telling the other options after picking the winner action. - edited - For future: - As big as possible texts in a mini screen (polls for Scribblenauts) - A link for that polls for Scribblenauts or something alternative Reddit threads with various feedbacks, mostly constructives I think:TASbot portal mario is depressing edit3: extra reddit threads: GDQ staff: can we get a count of how many people subscribed during the TASBot flood? - "987 subs between 02:27 and 02:30 UTC inclusive." We need the charm back in the TAS segment. Is it just me or is the text for the Scribblenauts tas segment insanely small? Is this the most boring TAS section so far? Those of you who donated to see the "Twitch Plays Super Scribblenauts", what is your thoughts on the execution of that run? TASBOT is the real god at mario Once again Tas Segment occurs and again GDQ does not give proper credit

When this page first created/started, I wasn't aware of the existence of speedrun.com (which was founded in 2014). I still find this page useful but it could be improved upon. Since speedrun.com let's you filter on the site (but you can't get a list of games with a run), the API could be used to get that list. Before jumping right in, I first examine a good workflow for all this: I will need to: - Write down dates of dumps (to make updates easier) Useful links to be used: - Wiki: Game/all - All platforms (119 at the moment) https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/platforms?offset=0&max=200 - Get all runs from <platform> (without game informations, we get the IDs only). For 3DO platform: https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/runs?platform=8gejmne3offset=0&max=200 https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/runs?platform=8gejmne3offset=200&max=200 https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/runs?platform=8gejmne3offset=400&max=200 - With game informations + orderby (not sure how it orders) + direction https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/runs?platform=8gejmne3offset=0&max=200&embed=game&orderby=game&direction=asc With the above link I've made a Python script. - Requests the speedrun.com API when it needs to. - Date (time of running the script) is not implemented. Will be added to the right requests in to the parameters to get only the "new" things to update. - GetLevel (for getting relevant info of single level runs) are not implemented (as TASVideos not accepts single level runs) - For whatever reasons, I don't find the full category names as listed on the page of the run. Relevant API doc https://github.com/speedruncomorg/api/blob/master/version1/categories.md edit3: Updated code - outputs in table format in the same vein as SDATASes - will put it to a new page when done, because of different timing than SDA, timings vary game by game and category and generally the rule difference between the two
Language: python

Outdated: The only caveat so far is that runs can be invalid (cheated runs) and sometimes platform isn't filled in, but that's the most straightforward request I found possible so far. edit: and it's also just threws GoldenEyes... looking for help on their discord channel. https://www.speedrun.com/api/v1/runs?platform=arcade&embed=game The other way would be using the website but it won't restrict runs to platforms: https://www.speedrun.com/games#platform=Arcade&sorting=runCount&direction_sort=on

Checked NES Kirby's Adventure, seems to be 2 polling per frame consistently. Note: In generally, this (or other games that poll multiple times within a frame) doesn't directly means it can be improved. It's very good sign if the subroutine call chain is similar, but the input dependent subroutines should also be called at least that many times to have an immediate effect of our extra input.

I don't see save corruption in the originally linked Livestream -- Creating a Frame-Perfect Speedrun for Super Mario World video. Are you referring to this one? Link to video If that's the case, the description has a link for the manual and it requires you to load the "premade" corrupted save file by SethBling.

I've tried without any success. I don't see "subframes" where fceux (edit2) running with my lua script shows the game polls multiple times. edit3: Missed point 1 as answered below me. Ignore this post :) 1. I've downloaded this artifact: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/zeromus/bizhawk-udexo/builds/21420416/artifacts 2. Drop ROM 3. Core > NesHawk 4.1 Make a new movie and autofire 4.2 try with tastudio 4.3 copy paste empty and A for 2000 times in Input Log.txt Result: no success with: Battletoads, Streemerz. (edit: I'm not 100% sure about my lua script being reliable, but pretty sre Streemerz polls at least twice a frame)
