I explored the beginning of the game a bit and found some RAM addresses: X Position: 020A14A5 Y Position: 020A14AD Enemy 1 HP: 0213DCB0 Enemy 2 HP: 0213E1D4 Enemy 3 HP: 0213E6F8 I also explored the nature of the battle RNG (that determines damage rolls, crits etc...) and found that it advances on the world map and in the house in Littlehaven (the first port, after getting down from the ship), but doesn't advance in Littlehaven. It also can't be manipulated with raw input during a fight, but the actions taken in a turn (attacking or defending etc...) change the outcome of the next turn. This hints to a RNG-based RNG that advances everytime it is called (I think it's called by the walking lady or the fire in the house and by the monster encounters in the world map). The encounter RNG (that determines whether you get an encounter on a given frame) seems to be possible to manipulate with input on the world map. Question: is the battle RNG the same as the encounter RNG?

I was thinking of trying a TAS of this (wonderful) game. I think routing this would be very interesting with the monster-recruiting mechanic. I might start working on this if someone is interested, I don't know much about RNG though manipulation though, so some help would be very useful. This is the RTA World Record for reference: Link to video Places a TAS would save time over a RTA run: 1) Luck manipulation: crits, monster recruiting, Liquid Metal Slime grinding, casino manipulation, encounter rate 2) Using L/R camera adjustments for optimized movement I think a optimized TAS of this can be brought down to 4 hours.

So, some time ago, I thought about TASing Dragon Quest IX, but I gave up considering the complex Touch Screen movement and the fact that I don't know anything about RNG manipulation that is everything in this game. So if someone gets intrested in TASing this, I can help with my 350+ gameplay hours

There are no 3DS emulators. There are no tools for 3DS consoles to do a savestate. There are no cheat tools for 3DS. Also, this here: DO NOT ASK ABOUT XY RNG ABUSE
It's just because i really wanna see a Platinum/HGSS TAS, i don't even have a 3DS XD

There's a run on the Japanese version of Pokemon Pearl (no glitches) over at Nicovideo: Account: Part 1: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22144595 Part 2: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22144657 No account: Replace "nicovideo.jp" with "nicozon.net". By the way, hall of fame in the void has been improved about a year ago: Link to video
Can't watch it, is my internet crappy or i have to do something special? I get the new window and a black screen after clicking the "Play" symbol EDIT: Watching it... REDIT: Believe it or not, i was planning to make a Piplup solo run with almost exactly these strats, i see some improvements on this run tho, i read somewhere that you lose 2 frames turning, and it turns when it's not needed sometimes, that's one, then he make the Bidoof and Starly KO in the double battles in the Galactic HQ, also, using Repels in a TAS?? Is RNG Manipulation slower? Some RNG's in battles can be improved i think (for example he's waiting ages for the critical GK on Gyarados), also he didn't used the Quick Claw sometimes, but i guess that's predicted, very good first run tho, i was very surprised. In conclusion the possible strats are: Chimchar (I think he has too low PP's to be useful) Piplup (The fastest i think) Abra (Idk) Machop (Idk) PALKIA IN THE E4 (considering you can get Choice Specs in Celestic Town this could get in handy) Any other ideas?
