Rhythm game... not entertaining.. the fact it specifically says FINAL Stage also indicates it fails to meet requirements. It's sad.. perfection is cool if a human... but when you TAS it... um no. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Shooting the window with two shots can be done before the cutscene, but going thru the bottom window is slower, but not by much, less than 1 second iirc. What do you mean I took long in the village?
AHH! And my bad about the village... watched too many NewGame + runs, so totally blanked there. x.x;; Really digged the annotations in the run though. Amusing, entertaining and informative! Wish more runs had these kind of notes as it makes following along easier. Keep up the awesome work! [So can't wait for Ashley, the door stop, in Chapter 3] Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Interesting WIP.... but some queries.. Right at the start of the run, why not shoot the zombie and quickly flip around and shoot the window.. then hop through the now open window to escape on the first floor. Or was this not as fast as the topside? I also presume you took so long in the village for the sake of setting up for maximum money drops for later on in the run? Love the waterfall glitch! Nice to see it executed so well! And finally... going down the Gondola... no staring inappropriately at Ashley? Booo ;) Otherwise this kicked ass and I can't wait for the rest! Keep up the good work! Sorry... wasn't to entertained. I mean it was to a degree... but it got boring fast, imho. Now, I understand WHY it was done with Time Trial... but I feel it'd have been better with CPU opponents. This is why I prefer SMK and MK64 runs that have previously being submitted. At least there's elements of entertainment because you have opponents who can screw you every which way from Sunday, even in a perfect world. I understand the hard work put into this title... and the hours put in.. but to me it's solid quality of craftsmanship.... but not entertaining enough. I know I will be in the minority.. but I feel I have to be honest. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Not enough to this... especially when compared to other MK Playarounds. I didn't find this particularly entertaining either, I am sad to say. It's not a bad effort.. but needs more meat on these bones before being presented to the table as dinner. Sorry, but No vote. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

You will rarely ever hear me say this... but this hack was interesting and entertaining enough to keep me till the end. There were some moments it appeared even a normal player could potentially complete a level. And the concepts were definitely something that stuck out as well. But what's with skipping the hidden exit in the one level? Is there literally no Key and it's a deliberate ploy to trick players into looking for something that doesn't exist? Or was it skipped to keep it as an Any% run? Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

This movie fails to complete. The final boss simply sits in the corner and continues jumping ad nauseum... leaving the viewer control to do whatever. It was a good movie at points up until that... Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I'm sorry, can you please explain what the point of this was? All I see is the video being incredibly boring and leading to a mailbox and then the video ending. What is this softlock? Why is it a worthwhile goal? Why, when the text is so ridiculously slow, is it more entertaining in Japanese? This has left me with more confusion then anything else, and as such, I can't even vote because I have no idea what the hell I just watched. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

This movie by the current rules of the Vault this movie seems eligible. But I think it provides a good test case. We want to accept versions of games on other platforms, but how similar is too similar? Is this too similar even for the Vault?
I'd say what matters is not whether the game looks similar, but whether the TAS is similar. If the TAS of the port uses glitches or tricks that the original doesn't have, or requires a different route, or has a clearly different definition of "100% completion" then I would like to see both original version and port on the site. For example, for Prince of Persia, we have a run of the NES (which closely matches the PC original), the Genesis (which has different physics) and the SNES (which adds several levels and boss fights).
I'd say for POP Nes/PC... whichever has the better graphics, music, entertainment.. that should be fine. The other 2 are different for the reasons you stated. For something like this... TOO Similar. A 100% Completion would be different due to how the goals have to be changed to achieve that vs the SNES version thanks to additional requirements. This should not be in the vault or published. Sadly, Grue will have more kibble to munch with this one. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Lacks entertainment and an inefficient manner to which the invaders are destroyed. Nothing that a normal player can NOT do. No Vote.. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

WOW! I have never played this, so kinda disappointed it has an ending.. but it looked like a lot of fun and I can definitely see what you mean by being a pain to optimize. You made it look clean and entertaining. Definite Yes vote here. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

If a game repeats endlessly, then I think one loop of the game should be played, and then input stops. That's been the standard for runs like Circus Charlie and Donkey Kong, for instance. That convention should go in the rules somewhere (it can't hurt to add it), but that wouldn't just apply to Vault movies. It would apply to any submitted run.
Well, you just KNOW someone is going to cry BS on that if a TAS of Nes Donkey Kong pops up as there IS a proven Kill Screen for it. [Tom Votava is one of the few to have reached it] I mean I agree otherwise... end it after 1 loop... but I am sure there will be other times where it will become arguable that a secondary stopping point would be desireable.. such as if, for instance, Circus Charlie maxed out at some point that was a bit over a loop or so... as long as entertainment was provided. Atm, with this case, as I am unaware of DK3 having a KS.. I'd say this single loop does the trick and good to go for the vault. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

This is a TEST cart and not an actual NES Library title or romhack of a game. Despite there being a clear defined ending... that is still irrelevant as this is NOT a game. Please let this be swallowed up and forgotten as the bad joke it was. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Voted meh. I mean considering how awful controls are, that ranks a yes, but the entertainment value was a no... so they cancel each other and leave a Meh. :( Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

It's more the fact that the console was approved and people were excited about it, yet seem to just now realize that the games are not good to watch.
Until someone rolls out Pitfall II. Now that was a fun game! Mind you almost anything Activision touched was fun. They knew how to push this poor console to its limits. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

In response to the various questions of why to vote yes for this game, and a reason why I voted yes: Try playing this game on your own: it is obscenely difficult. The speed and ease this TAS presents in defeating the game make it worthwhile to me. This game also has quite nice graphics and music for the 2600, if that's a cocern for you.
Obscenely difficult indeed! I was never able to finish this as a kid... and even with a guide a few years ago... I still was unable to quite polish it off. To think... we grade games as "Nintendo Tough", but there are times like this where Atari Tough could even be used. :) And yeah... the graphics weren't too bad for everything that was covered in this game. I honestly question how many No votes are from folks who never grew up when the Atari 2600 was brand new and cutting edge. I feel that has an unfortunate and impending push on the view point of quality of games on this system. To that... this is one of the few titles that has a definitive end in a more impressive timely manner. Pitfall! That has an ending... but it'd end with just over a minute on the clock and people would classify it as boring. Almost any Activision title would fall under that... especially as the only way they end is when you die or get 1 Million points. Considering the information provided to explain the choices within and reasoning, I feel it definitely improves on the technical aspect on an otherwise abysmal title. The point that has been made about standing still during the wait for the mother ship though... that is a valid point. But could be worse. I mean after all... if you want an example of WTF and Fast...? Haunted House would be a prime example as that can be done in around 5-6 seconds with optimal setup. Or even Adventure! That can be done in under 45 seconds as well. But... despite how fast that is.. just realize... it's as it is because after all these years. people have explored the shit out of these titles to maximize time. BITD... graphics might not have been intense or crisp... but they were amazing for their time and some were genuinely tough as all hell. [And not always due to programming limitations based on storage availability] To this.. I hope it offers an interesting thought and viewpoint and hopefully might make cause some of the voters who did not grow up with a system such as this, have some food for thought. Even if this was a horrid and rushed game. [And yeah, Pac-Man was WAYYYYYYY worse] Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Screw the explosion. Just stay firm to the date and people be damned. You gave a fair and firm date... you gave a bit of time extension to be fair to those who have dedicated themselves to a movie... which is VERY Fair. Someone doesn't like it? Tough! Going to vow to never come here again because of it? Good! The site will continue to thrive and move forward. Going to stick around and adapt and show how much ass you can kick? Hot Skippy! We dropped Famtasia and look what happened. Oh snap, tons of FCEU and FCEUX submissions! Don't pussyfoot this Nach, be firm and carry on. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin
