For some reason, input ended a few hundred frames earlier than I ended it, so you have to put my second place (-.-) time in yourself.
This is Mupen's input termination bug. Each time you complete a WIP let the movie run a little to make sure it's all there and once completed hex edit it to make lost frames minimal (don't worry about that last bit just yet, only for the final submission).

I'm thinking that you should redo this. I have my reasons -- 1) In the submission text you say that it can 'definitely be improved' and that you are already working on it. I see no reason then to publish this movie. 2) Watch this movie. These games are very similar and these techniques could make something better here. Having said that I saw no obvious mistakes so you clearly are capable of producing a good TAS.

Yes, Rikku is right about PSS. This looked great to me. Noticable improvements were -- - The much better/cooler coin route. - More optimal Lobby glitching (much faster than I expected). - The new discoveries since the last run. Next I'd say should be PSS 2 and then Wing Cap tower. One question; exactly how far ahead of FODA are you?

- Click on the submission on the submissions page. - Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there you will have the option to 'Set status decision to cancelled.

I think you should cancel this to save judges spending time looking at something which such an obvious outcome. I tried to watch it but it was clearly unoptimised so I didn't last out which is why I won't vote. Also, if you ended input on the earliest possible frame then this is slower than the SDA run. Don't get discouraged. Give this another bash and post up WIPs in the forums for review and you'll get there ;)

But is that actually faster? It doesn't sound as if it is. I haven't tested it yet though.

When that point in the run arrives I'll test out both options. Personally, I hope it is the ranch bottle because I should be able to make the alien invasion quite entertaining.

The Gens 9z and VBA are my favourites. Years ago I always used the Famicommunist, which was a great emulator for general playing as far as I remember.

I'd totally forgotten about this bad idea of mine from six months ago. How embarrassing that it should resurface. Making any movies of the special NES classics range would be utterly pointless. A remake is a different matter and with enough difference that would be worth consideration. Oh how my views have changed...

Hmm...good point...WIP time comes early! http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4148/Copy%20%283%29%20of%20ZELDA%20MAJORA%27S%20MASK.m64 This is up until Snowhead. There is a little bit of the Lullabye skip but its really just testing so it can be ignored.

You should end input after pressing A the final time to skip the dialog text. Your input has to take the game to its end i.e. the game credits or whatever.

Tried it. Didn't work I'm afraid. The slopes aren't anywhere near steep enough. It's just the same old story for all our attempts to get through that door :(

I thought this was pretty good. I haven't played it in a long time, but if you submit this (which I think you should) then be sure to have very good reasons why you left items where you did. It is the only thing that I was unsure of. Good job.

Hmm...shit. I remember Raiscan said that he had a similar problem. I'll try and experiment a little myself and see if I can get any better results. Don't let that deter anyone else from trying to encode this though ;)

I think that because both systems have such large libraries of games (i.e. potential thread topics) and a lot of interest from users this single thread would become very cluttered. I'm for sticking with the two, but I am interested to see what others' take on this is.

Are you still having trouble with the logo? If the run is completely encoded, subtitles and all, then PM one of the coders saying that all you need is a logo and how to insert it. You may get a better response that way.

Ok, progress has been pretty good on this. I'm now in Mountain Village so expect a WIP before the end of the weekend. *fingers crossed* EDIT -- Expect a WIP tommorow...or perhaps Thursday. I managed to fix Mountain Village and the desyncing drop manipulation on the path to Snowhead so I should be trying to get into the dungeon tonight and tomorrow.

The last I heard no one was encoding this. I'd say go for it L4yer and I'm sure one of the encoders would help you out with the logo etc.

Excellent run. Even after never playing this game I was thoroughly entertained. The boss battles were kind of meh, but only in comparison to the fast flowing smoothness of the levels which was downright excellent. Voting yes.

In Pirate's Fortress. Can you shoot the hive with arrows before the cutscene loads. I've tried but have been unsuccessful. Is it possible?

Hmm...but then if you add up time taken to assign the nuts and in fact get the nuts it could possible be a few seconds. Unless I will definitely be using nuts later. Hopefully it is that minor. I'm in Pirate's Fortress now and the thought of going all the way back there doesn't excite me all that much.

If it is a TAS then submit it, however, I reckon GuanoBowl will already beat it before it gets published.

:( Angerfist...where is...Angerfist? I always thought it was a great name. I also dislike my name, but I wouldn't change it because I'd probably come out with something equally as bad.

I've been really busy with my Majora's Mask TAS recently, however, I have most certainly not forgotten about this. Once I am done there I will begin making a movie of this. I'll update my route above in this thread with new ideas later.
