Hi there. We like to keep the forums to one topic per game as much as possible. You know, to keep things tidy. That being the case, please use search in future. Thanks.

anybody wanna drop some helpful suggestions on where to get a good dump of the game for my view pleasure? Seems interesting, especially with the image in my head I get with "handles like a tank with a jet engine"
No. This is against the rules. Please don't ask, because you won't get. Perhaps you should consider googling, or waiting for it's possible (likely inevitable) publishing and get the AVI.

I'm sure Upthorn will appreciate it.

So the past week saw the publication of 24 different runs, where as before we were getting 1 run about every 3 to 5 days. All the runs on queue seemed to be up there for weeks or months, and even saw a mario run staying in queue for over a month I think, where as before over a day was like an eternity for such runs. wtf is going on?

The submission file was replaced. But yes. My bad on the accidental non-obsoletion. I shall go grovel to an admin now. *sigh*

Whoah! Thanks, ShinyDoofy. Big question though: Is this the submission run, or the updated one listed in the submission text? Because if it isn't the updated one, I can't publish it..

That would require someone using Linux to capture it. If someone is willing to capture it according to site rules and sent it to either adelikat or I, we would be happy to process the run.

To reuse Ad's Batman Begins run as example, the casual viewer would not know that Batman's not supposed to have unlimited multijumps if they don't look at the submission text and hadn't played it. I suppose this means the audience would be narrower, unlike say the recent Fire Emblem run where it's so blatantly obvious that they're playing with loaded dice.
Actually I thought Batman Begins was interesting and Fire Emblem was boring. So there you go.

I fully support mmbossman and adelikat's decision. From an outside perspective it's easy to criticize, but once you work with some of the runs it's fairly obvious they suck ass. I'm sure that one of them will reply to you, but I personally think they shouldn't have to answer to anybody for the decisions they make. Things aren't going to sit well with everybody, those are the breaks.

That's really funny. Good find.
And this is also a nice little example of why we can't accept movies from savestates :D "I'm so awesome the game completed early for me!"

Vykan: an hour long tas on youtube? if you're going to do that, be sure each segment has full explanation that it's a TAS, who made it and a link to TASvideos for more information.. Subtitles should also be strongly considered (like on the encoded run).

Voting no. I was hoping for a hack that provides unique, original gameplay styling (Like that Metroid Mario hack) but all I got is a sub-par hack with different graphics and somewhat-hard for the sake of hard levels. Sorry HappyLee, I'm going to have to make you UnhappyFromNoVotesLee. :(

Synced fine with 19.4.
(19:17:35) (Raiscan) I have no idea what's going on in this run whatsoever
FerretWarlord. The only one who can save us from alphabetti spaghetti metroid. Very amusing to watch. Yes Vote.

Unless you have access to the NES hardware directly, the following is practically infeasible:
  1. Savestates
  2. Resets
  3. Frame advance
And without access to exact timing of when the NES turns on, your whole idea becomes pretty impossible to. It also seems extremely unlikely the TAS would work between consoles (I mean, not all hardware can be 100% identical... right?)

To be fair there aren't any "support" forums. Maybe there should be.
Why? 99% of the questions people ask are in the FAQ. I request that the blue message at the top of the screen is not noticable enough, and should either undergo a colour/size change or be moved to somewhere more likely to be read.

Sorry to double post, but I just had to post about how remarkably well shot the photo is, and how identical the cakes are in size and position in the photos. Using Photoshop I did an overlay which is kind of trippy: ...And a difference cake, which is kind of scary: Happy Birthday, I present you with cake amalgamation!

Perhaps you should check the forum/search before posting. This post here is about the exact same thing and (as of writing) is only 4 posts below yours.

If you're interested, this guy overclocked a Genesis to 20MHz, and a SNES to 6.6MHz. The results are.... interesting. This site is pretty old though, I remember checking it out ages ago. Linky linky

I've created a FCEUX batch file creator. Why? I'm not really sure. Version 0.1: (Program Requires Java 1.5 or greater) Windows-Only Download (exe) Cross-Platform Download (jar) - Linux users: please see below. Features:
  • Creates batch files that run fceux with certain options
  • Allows every option fceux's command line supports
  • Supports making of batch files for background input + multiple fceux instances (for multi-game TASing)
Known Problems:
  • Batch path does nothing. Right now it stores every batch file in the same directory the program resides in.
  • Limited/No Linux support. This is because the command line options are different and I don't know them.
Next Version:
  • Cross platform support
  • Proper batch paths
  • Autorun/Open notepad on batch after creation
  • Stores preferred "Other options" to cfg
Linux users note: While the program will create files on Linux perfectly, the command line options aren't supported by fceux yet. Bug them to update the Linux command line options to match the Win32 ones and it'll work perfectly :P I require testers! Please test it out and let me know what you think. Edit: Anyone having "main class" errors try re-downloading.

Iirc, Bisqwit pointed out lately that this is not really possible because of the structure of the NES's sound system.
Even though Famtasia can do this?
JNES can do this also. Just throwing it out there.
