Xvid's current page is http://www.xvid.org/. The link on the page is now a landing page put up by some lame advertising site. It should be noted that compared to H.264, Xvid's quality and compression is a fair amount lower. Should the method to encode to Xvid still be there because of this?

Well it would help if there was still a link of the run so we can compare.

If you try VirtualDub, be sure to download codecs so you can encode to whatever format you wish; the site uses x264. You can get quite a few different codecs and packs from www.free-codecs.com.

My head hurts I think I should leave encoding to people that know how.
I think its something that requires alot of testing and understanding on what it can do. There are a few frontend GUIs out there that make things easier if you are thinking of encoding your own AVIs.

Veteran. I'll admit I haven't played much; it was on a friend's console. I do intend to either buy it or convince him to lend it to me once he has completed it.

I found Metroid Prime 3 good, but much the same as the two games before it. It also seems a bit too easy at times. Thats about all I can say on the matter. Edit: Also, I do find it interesting how you specifically target JXQ even though there were others that also agreed with his point of view.

Do you guys think I ever have a chance of getting a published run?
Only if you start thinking positive and work on trial and improvement. Things like this take time to master. You can't just pick up a guitar and expect to be awesome from the start. Just keep going and if someone mentions something about a certain part of the run, try to focus on making that bit as optimised as possible. If you think something could be faster, try it and see where it leads.

Are you getting annoyed at all my attempts? I can test out other things to replace the side hop if you want.
Test everything that might be faster. Only then can you absolutely sure that nothing is faster, and that you have acheived at least some level of perfection :)

Dear Fabian, Would you care to divulge your naughty secrets of the perfect poker face? Is the trick to think of something boring like the colour grey or an object like cardboard (the paper product, not the lovable forum member)? Also, if you had to give 1 word to sum poker up, what would would it be?

This may be related very loosely to the Vista AVI generation problem previously mentioned in this thread. Perhaps you could try the fix and see if anything changes?

Dear Fabian, Do you have any specific religion or way of life? Do you believe in karma or some governing force in this world? Does this influence you with the decisions you make in life? If so how much? That said, do you feel that using an unsecured wireless network (without asking permission) to gain access to the internet during an important time in your life is morally or ethically unsound? Or so you feel there are certain necessities that require somewhat extreme measures? Where should the limit be set? I feel that bouncing my ideas and curious nature off of this topic is something which is required now that it exists.

What makes you sure its the combination of Vista and Laptop that causes it? Could you go into more details as to what happens with the crash? does the screen freeze/sound repeat for 5-10 seconds before it restarts or is it instantaneous? Do other demanding games play okay?

The problem is that once its in the hands of YouTube, it encodes it into a Flash Video 7 (.flv) format, which is pretty bad. Recent betas of Flash 9 have H.264 support, but I doubt YouTube will make the rush to it since the majority of browsers have nothing greater than Flash 7 installed.

You could always have 2 drop down boxes. One entertainment, one quality/optimization.

I find the current question too vague, but I am unsure as to what would be best to replace it. I'm thinking perhaps something along the lines of: "Did you find this movie to have a high standard of entertainment and quality?"

Perhaps Nintendo knew about the possible glitch in DDD, but didnt find it in WDW?
No. Why would Nintendo fix a glitch in one place and not another? You really think the creators of the game couldn't 'find' the glitch in WDW? I didn't think so. A more logical assumption would be that the thought of taking that enemy all the way into the loading area in WDW can be considered pretty much impossible. There was nothing that could possibly be in there at loading time, so why bother?
