Words cannot describe how unbelievably awesome this run is. It's actually overtaken Mukki's MM run as my favourite TAS to date. So optimal, and so entertaining. It makes me really happy to see how quickly you've "grown" as a TASer, as I remember your early WIPs that you sent from YouTube just a few months ago, and they were nothing compared to this. I couldn't possibly vote anything other than yes.
Wow... To make swordlesslink say that... Anyway, my opinion, this run was amazing. Just the time is almost an hour faster than a single segmented regular speedrun should be of this category. Long story short, the voting should only have the votes "yes", "yes", and "yes"

Sorry SL & AKA, you might have to restart you TAS again. A most likely faster method of escaping the forest has been found.
I think they already might because of Mupen64
I dont think its faster. You have to watch the Ocarina cutscene.
Yeah, I actually think the original method is faster for TAS. Though it's slower for regular speedrunning because the limited nuts method is virtually impossible in real time, and the many nuts method is time consuming. EDIT: and even if you did get the limited nuts method, it's still slower in real time because of the time it takes to get rupees and shield. Also, you don't have to do ocarina items every time you play a song.

Actually, the current situation is exactly the opposite. The current video that Samoht is throwing around, is where he escapes from the invisible ring of death inside the guard. Getting inside there is what everyone is scratching their heads over. Both the leave forest early with deku hover and DoT skip were made possible each with a theory movie (no editing) of the method of how to get through. With constant effort, ways were found to achieve that method (megaflip for deku hover, backwards sidehop/jump slash for DoT.) Here, you have "this has been done!" and the end result is shown, but the method for is has been "removed" and everyone is scrambling around trying to figure out how it was done. From my experience: -A shown method given to achieve a goal, everyone tries: success. -End result shown, HUGE secrecy among how it was actually done: bullcrap. Now, IF it were actually possible, some actual smart nuggets at SDA have been thinking route wise which is better. We should do the same, for TAS.
Well, it would be more like the DoT skip and the Deku hover megaflip forest escape if thelegend0fzelda didn't remove the damn video. That video's what brought me to search my ass off on a way to get out of the circe. I admit though that I am starting to get curious, since I sent him a message asking if he still had the video and if he could give me the instructions well over a day ago, but he logged on just 21 hours ago, and he still hasn't responded.

I would recomend holding off on speedrunning and TASing for a little while. A lot of breakthroughs are being found. But that's just my opinion.

Character speed is definately not the most important aspect of the game.
Hence why he said "ONE of the most important aspects of a game", which it most certainly is.
I was responding to the "If not the most!!!" part.

Will it probably ever be possible to make a TAS of a game from a gaming console other than N64, GB, GBA, NES, SNES, etc.? Like the DS, Gamecube, Playstation, or Atari? Just wondering.

Character speed is definately not the most important aspect of the game. The most time differences in different (but close) character speeds is about a few seconds. Not that a few seconds isn't alot, but glitches and routes are way more important, and can save various amounts of time.

You're going to submit the run, right? It would cool to have a no major skips TAS. I've actually been working on a new no-major-skips single segmented regular speed run since December. Still working on it. Another question about the TAS, are you going to complete the trials?

What about RBA to get bombs, beat child temples (maybe not deku tree) as adult?
Jabu Jabu wouldn't be possible because he's banished by Ganondorf. Dodongo's Cavern could be done though
Wait, so that's the reason he's gone as adult link? How did you find out, or is it just common sense? And it's best to make up the route before you start, not while you're doing the run.

Is Atma still working on his TAS, or did he quit it a while ago? Hope he finishes.

I actually started a TAS of this a few weeks ago. Don't plan to get too far. Hope to see yours completed :D Oh, and suicide helps against the AT-STs in the first level incase you haven't noticed.

Wait, the reset-recording Mupen64 is allowed? The movie desynched for me right after you saved :( Really nice job though.

Is a low% a possible category in TAS, or is it not accepted?

That's odd, none of the pictures that the robot put were in my run (except for the first one). Also, how come only two people have voted although this has been out for almost a week? I don't mean to be a pest, but most runs have way more votes for the amount of time they've been out.

I decided to redo this. I found a glitch that lets you pass through ghosts. It has to be frame perfect, so its great for TAS. I also found better routes.

There was a noticeable lack of ghost manipluation in 2-1 and the last level. Also, I doubt that the absolute best routes were chosen for a couple levels. A run that totally avoids all ghosts while still managing to take the fastest routes might be interesting to watch, but as it sits right now, this looks more like a very good pacman player than a TAS. Voting no.
I knew someone would mention the route. Trust me, I tried a million routes. Usually, if I took the route that looks "faster," I will eventually run into a ghost.

I've recently started a TAS of MS Pacman for GBA on Namco Museum(E). Here's what I have so far: http://files.filefront.com/MPM+TASvbm/;9957615;/fileinfo.html Note that there might be some places where the route I took might seem awkward. My reason is usually that if I took whatever route would appear to be faster, I would have eventually been eaten by one of the monsters. Also, the fidgety movements I made when I got to the top of the 8th board wasn't a mistake. It lured the pink and red monsters upward, instead of having them continue forward and messing up my path EDIT: alright, the TAS is done. It goes up to the end of level #9.
