one thing i forgot to mention. like in the Richter run, you get Razor Bats to show up infront of you at the beginning of Stage 7. i know for a fact it can be manipulated so that none show up in front of you. and when using Maria, you're moving so fast the ones behind you will never show up.
playing casually, i get this and always have got this a good 90% of the time. maybe i just have awesome luck at part. but it can't be too hard to manipulate this.
this is superb. just what i'd expect from Maria: fast. i love how the bosses all get annihilated with Guardian Fist. and the shortcut you used toward the end of Stage 7 was a nice surprise, i never knew about that one. even the Richter parts looked cleaner than before. it's nice to hear the audio issue got fixed as well.
Yes vote.
there are a lot of reasons why Richter is not awesome. and the Chuck Norris joke stopped being funny a LONG time ago.
that's very surprising to hear Richter is faster than Maria. before this run was made, it was a definite that Maria was faster. she still is when not TASing, i would assume, but the backflip cancelling threw a wrench into that for TAS, i guess. the rescue Maria cutscene probably doesn't help either.
i would think the point of a Super Sonic run, aside from playing as SS, is to show the special stages, which will never be shown in any other type of run.
i say to do whichever option is faster.
in before Rickroll.
so it is possible. there's no excuse for not using this route, then. this is still a speedrun, after all. the speed/entertainment tradeoff for doing Stage 4 is too great. tell me, do you think Stages 2 and 3 are more entertaining than 2' and 3'? if not, why didn't you use them?
as you said to me, entertainment is subjective. but you have to realize that the viewers' opinion of entertainment is more important than yours. they're the ones voting after all. not everyone will agree with you. Saturn should know what i'm talking about.
anyway, the Dullahan fight in this one ends with him using his desperation move, whereas the original submission doesn't. is taking the extra damage worth it?
talking about entertainment in this situation isn't too wise. your run does aim for fastest time with a suboptimal character. so you would have to use the fastest route possible. if 4' was a feasible option for Richter, and it was faster, you should use it.
and i think Stage 4 is very boring anyway. partially because it's so long. i'm not a fan of Beginning, either.
i'm surprised at how fast Richter was moving. it almost felt unnaturally fast at first, like the game itself was moving faster than it should allow.
i wonder if after killing the Wyvern you could use the axe Item Crash to grab the orb. i don't know how much lag, if any, that would create and if it would save the 8 frames on the score tally.
i'm pretty sure the key does cause damage when you use its Item Crash.
like VG, i'm surprised you went through Stage 4. i know for a fact that stage is slower than 4', and Dogether has lower defense than the Minotaur. if the problem is getting to Dogether, maybe sacrificing the key is an option. i don't know if enemies drop them later on, though.
there are a couple places you could have manipulated luck. the sword miniboss in Stage 5 and the bats at the beginning of Stage 7 are the best examples. the sword can descend quicker, and you can have it so that no bats appear to the left.
what VG means is that Shaft appears when you reach the center of the room.

That last hit on Dracula's 2nd form probably cost more time then avoiding it.
i agree with this. there's got to be a better way.
arukAdo, you took VG's comments way too personally. the way you answered to him is really dickish. if i were like you, i would vote no on this run because your attitude sucks.
but i'm smarter than that. i know a good run when i see it. this has some iffy moments, and you did abuse the hell out of the key, killing the entertainment factor somewhat, but the run is still performed very well. i say Yes.
i'm aware of that. but does the difficulty change really result in about 2 minutes of difference? provided his estimate of 34 minutes is correct, of course. which based on Derakon's calculations, that's probably not so.
off the top of my head:
- Black Panther
- Erinys
- x9 Stolas, maybe more
- Mud Demon
- Succubus
- Cutall or Cindequa
- equipment that boosts INT
- Chaos Ring?
- Hippogrpyh?
- Draghignazzo?
i gotta check what groobo did in his run.
oh, you warp around and get glitched souls. yeah, that really breaks the game. wouldn't it be possible, then, to suspend and reappear at the end of the Mine of Judgment?
that would change things a little bit. you wouldn't have to fight Malphas, and you wouldn't have to visit Subterranean Hell or Silenced Ruins at all. after beating Zephyr, you can go directly to the Pinnacle. otherwise, everything else looks to be the same.
i am very intrigued as to how you can get Bat Company that quickly.
not all relics are rewards for defeating bosses. for example, none of the familiars require a boss to beat. some bosses like Scylla only reward equipment, and some like the Cerberus are merely in the way. all relics doesn't require all bosses, and vice versa.
Is "100%, no out-of-bounds" too arbitrary? The purpose of the run would be pretty clear (go everywhere you're supposed to be able to go). Maybe even "100%, no glitches" if you'd like; I believe that category already exists somewhere around here.
i dunno. the production quality of the run is definitely top notch. but the game itself irks me. it's all stuff anyone can view in the X1 and X2 movies, except this is 8bit. the few things that aren't taken from the SNES games, like Zero Final, don't do much to make the experience few any newer.
because it's really the game's fault for me not enjoying the movie, i'll abstain from voting. but i can't wait for Xtreme 2 to get the same treatment.
