From what I see, this looks like only a time improvement - the score in your notes appear to be the same. So I guess we have hit the score limit?

Well, the thing about viruses now is that a LOT of them are installed by taking advantage of people's ignorance. Why do you think those "Your Paypal account has been locked down, please log in to deal with this" emails are so prominent? Hell, there's a "facebook virus" that is caused by people being promised an upskirt video if you click a certain link on Facebook.

Kinda sounds like the issue that McAfee had with svchost.exe. Be thankful that it's not rebooting your computer constantly.

Wow, with a dual-core processor and 3GB of RAM and you're having those kind of problems? Wow. Kaspersky is worse then I thought. I would at least run a Disc Cleanup and Drive Defragmenter and see if that helps any. But still...geezus.

If you can't even watch GBA TASes without slowdown, it makes me think that you have a poor CPU over a problem with your antivirus program. What's your computer specs?

So in order to keep myself from getting tense and angry, I'm gonna post a picture of a cute kitty and bunny together. There. I feel better. I hope you do too.

Any idea when will they finally implement sorting the game list by publication date (of the speedrun, not the game)? I asked this question on the SDA forum something like 4 years ago and the reply was something along the lines of it being on the works. The site is still identical. It's really annoying having to go through the entire list every time I want to see if there's a new speedrun of something I might want to watch.
DJGranola has been working on SDA2.0 for a while, but I have no idea when he'll get it up...if ever. I know there was a sampler thread in the SDA Discussion forum some time back that uses a better database system, but I can't remember what was there for sorting.

I'm gonna say no. There is some new stuff in Wily 4, but there are a handful of glitches removed throughout. The remaining 92% of the run is identical to the Normal version. I don't think it's different enough to warrant publication.
Just remember that this would obsolete Normal, as stated by Fractal in the submission notes of the normal mode one.
A run of the hard mode hack will obsolete this one, if it is well-received.
So don't judge as a separate publication.

The vast majority of SDA runs are done at exceeding poor quality, far worse than TASVideos even uses, is that their only defense for "not TASed"?
I didn't quite understand if you mean that the speedruns are slow and sloppy (even by the standards of a human player), or if you were referring to something else (maybe video encoding quality?) If you were referring to sloppy playing, then there are, indeed, some really egregious examples. For example, when I once checked the speedrun of the Playstation version of Driver, I was simply amazed at how poorly it was done. The player did not only drive poorly and sloppily, but he even several times stopped to look at the (fullscreen) map, several times in a short period of time, and many seconds at a time (ie. he opens the map, looks at it for like 5-10 seconds, then drives for about that much time, then opens the map again, and so on). The run was so horrid that I had to stop watching it after the first level. I don't really understand how such a run gets accepted by SDA. The speedrun of the PC version saved the day, though, as it's of top quality.
The verification quality has been greatly tightened in the past couple of years. Look at SMRPG. Now look at any major RPG pretty much nowadays. What a change a few years (and a Mike Uyama) makes. Hell, it's almost TOO tight now. GTA4 got rejected for an estimated 4-6 minutes of errors in a 4.5 HOUR run. Luckily, it's back in verification again. And let's not go into the Twisted Metal 2 controversy...

sparky, what is your strategy for fighting Shademan going to be? You won't have Wild Coil (Spring) yet, and for any%, you won't get the Super Adaptor, right? How will you deal with him flying all the time?
Even with the lack of Wild Coil, several other weapons should be able to reach him, including Junk Shield, Freeze Cracker, and Danger Wrap.

A missed Rush Coil after the mid-boss (or was that unintentional due to not swtiching weapons?)
Correct in that it's unintentional, because you can't L/R switch to Rush Coil, and he needs it later, so there's an appearance w/o it being used. Turbo has to be done before Shade in a 100% run, since you need to visit Blues in the following order to get the Blues Shield: Cloud, Turbo, Shade. If you do it in the wrong order, he won't appear.

Thing is, he ISN'T. The current any% uses the (J) version, so it was either approved, or nobody got this anal about the rules. (I used it because the title sequence was noticeably shorter. If it wasn't approved, it would have been rejected according to the rules, right?)

I didn't realize this site was SDA. Huh, that's weird. My browser bar says I'm at "tasvideos.org". Strange mistake. TASVideos and SDA are not comparable due to differences in how videos are made and watched. Most importantly, they do not have a game version rule as far as I know.
P.S. I should also have my Akumajou Special - Boku Dracula-kun run unpublished from here too, cause that's in Japanese too.
I never said that all Japanese runs (or any runs at all) should be removed from the site, only that every non-(U) run should have adequate reason for doing so before being accepted.
The Rules Page wrote:
Use the (U) version of a ROM unless there is a good reason not to (as an example a shortcut/trick which only works in a different version, or superior music), or the version does not exist.
The (U) version is preferable for videos here due to the target audience, but that does not mean that it other versions can't be used if the situation calls for it. A game not being available in English is a very good reason to use the Japanese ROM. I never said that using the (J) version was a "great sin" as you put in my mouth, but rather that it usually provides sub-optimal enjoyment (and generally makes the run harder to watch or improve legally). Other languages aren't crap, they just aren't preferable for this site.
Congratulations on missing the entire point of my post. P.S. There is a US version of the game I ran here, titled Kid Dracula. Oh noes, I broketh the rules! People may not be able to read the oodles of dialogue in the game! Wait, nobody cares? Oh, ok.

Hi,sparky.this run is very funny, Especially the zip route to get Auto's Bolt. There are two glitches want to let you know. 1).Usage R.J skip blues conversation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_ty7T3284s 2).Shademan stage skip miniboss improvement http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=154217936357937739#
Nice glitches. Too bad I probably can't do them in real time. Maybe the one in Turbo Man, but I doubt the Shade Man one.

I'll hold off on voting for now, but I'm leaning towards no unless convinced otherwise, for the following reasons: 1) Uses (J) ROM instead of (U) ROM without any real reason. As I said in the latest Ocarina of Time run, I don't think there should be a "Nicovideo first" exception to that rule.
The any% run uses it. The reason was for the faster conversations with Dr Light. So let's throw this stupid argument out.
2) Does not exploit all known bugs. I haven't really been following MM7 TASing, but I knew about the Noise Crush bug, which is a bad sign. I'm guessing that if the author had checked the MM7 thread here while making this movie, he would have known about it, too (since the first post I saw about it here was from late 2007).
We know it exists, but don't know if it's faster to do the 2nd 4 out of order. I've yet to see evidence that the time by not having Spring before Shade will cover this. If there is, please point me to it. I'd like to see it.
3) Very little is gained by this being a 100% run. Since the obtained items aren't used at all, getting them adds little to the run besides extra waiting for Rush to dig stuff up. The only real "new content" from this being 100% is the Protoman battle, which isn't exactly the highlight of the run.
Might as well throw out all the other arbitrary categories out while we're at it too, huh?

Yay! I love Mega Man TASes, and 100% lets me have MOAR! I personnally like killing the boss normally, as it is more entertaining, and 2) it shows off more TAS stuff (as the NoiseCrush trick can be easily done in real time.) Question though. Would the NoiseCrush trick work on _other_ bosses? It may save some time. Yes vote, but I think there a few frames of improvement scattered around.
I know it works on Turbo Man, but the time saved there would be negated by doing Shade Man's level twice. In 100%, you need to visit Blues in Turbo Man before Shade Man in order to get the Blues Shield.

Interesting to see that he doesn't take the opportunity to use the pre-boss fight kill for Spring Man by doing Shade man first. So this leaves the question of whether it's really faster to do it or not.
