Is it normal that the link to the Oldest movies by platform leads to this link https://tasvideos.org/Movies ?

I hope Switzerland can go as far as possible, even if we are stronger in tennis... :D

Ok, I wanted to be sure when asking the question because an "all awards" category would have the consequences of visiting several times the levels of the game. A first time to complete the normal game until 8-4 (Mario Award), a second once to complete the second quest (Bowser Award) and a third time for the challenge mode (Peach and Toad Award).
Post subject: Which category ?

What would make the most sense for an additional category regarding this game ? The "Challenge Mode" category which would complete the mode by reaching a score of 1,160,000pts in order to obtain the Toad Award in addition to the Peach Award ? Or An "All awards" category that would complete all possible awards in a single movie ?

These are probably not acceptable right away because seen as trivial with little user creativity but I hope it will become acceptable one day : #4237: RealMyop's SNES Super Road Blaster in 17:21.21. #5655: Cyorter's Wii Fast Draw Showdown in 10:41.25. I know that hacks are just begun to be revisited but I'll list the ones that I'm pretty sure are acceptables, found them on smwcentral and romhacking dat net : #4105: kuja_killer's NES Rockman 3: Burst Chaser in 24:16.32. #2805: woabclf's NES Rockman: Deus Ex Machina "Normal" in 27:02.51. #3273: kaizoman666, TheFinalBoss726 & Fethy75's SNES Kaizo Mario World 2 in 19:26.47.
#2717: aglasscage & woabclf's NES Rockman Exhaust "Rockman Hack" in 24:26.19. Looks like there was also this hack rejected for "bad game choice"

With the flexibility and simplification of the rules, could this TAS be accepted today?

I followed this project very closely, for years I had hoped to finally see a TAS glitchfest of this game. After two first TAS made by Genisto, rejected and canceled and then a WIP by Bahamete and TheFinalBoss726 11 years ago, I had lost hope of ever seeing this category highlighted. TASvideo is sorely lacking in glitchfest and playaround categories for some of these classic games so thank you Igor for this masterpiece and thank you for the work provided, everything is there and this TAS already deserves an award! yes vote !

Is there a reason this TAS is slower than the current RTA record ? https://www.speedrun.com/999#All_Endings

I haven't necessarily followed all the discussions but is the "Movie Publishing History" page finished ? https://tasvideos.org/MoviePublishingHistory It would seem that the complete list only stops after a certain number of movies. Or is it planned not to show everything?

Other moments in TAS are quite different from RTA WR and seem slower like the fight against Fracktail or Francis. Others like climbing the ladder in level 5-2 seems slower than the TAS of 4:43:42.01 found on youtube. Are there any explanations or comments to add to your submission ? Anyway it's a good job but I fear that it is poorly optimized in some portions. I will still give my yes vote because I always wanted this game to be part of the big family of this site but it is important to note these improvements: - fight against Fracktail, Francis - climb the ladders too slowly I probably missed other places ...

Good TAS but why don't you apply the same fighting strategy against Fracktail as in the current WR speedrun?

In your video (WIP3), from 12:15 to 12:21 you push the stove. You can probably avoid falling back on the platform below, which would avoid the automatic auto-scroll of the screen. As is the case in the video from ISM. https://youtu.be/VXRG9oi-as8?t=720
It's true, preventing the screen from scrolling would save time. However, as it stands, I didn't find a possible way to do this myself. I think that, because of how the boiler RNG works, it probably requires a bit of luck to get the right pushes quickly enough in sequence, since otherwise you end up waiting too long for RNG and the boiler falls down since it's in midair. I suspect that emulation issues are also a factor, since even the canceled All Chests TAS from a couple years ago will desync on newer versions of BizHawk as soon as something involving golf/boilers/etc. comes up, and ISMin's TAS is from 2012. I also probably don't have as much patience as ISM, but I do remember spending a good couple hours on this when doing my own sweep through the 3rd WIP. edit: Okay, I just spent 20 minutes redoing that segment and actually got it to work, saving 82 frames. Time to resync the 60 levels after it, accounting for RNG :/ Here's hoping I don't lose 30 of those frames to worse golf luck and 100 more frames to wolfenboss patterns.
Courage, we hope you don't have too many problems with RNG. Good luck

Hi all, I am a relatively new RTA runner of Wario Land 3, and I decided to review/improve the RTA route for 100% and make a TAS out of it. I have currently done a little over an hour of the movie, which I estimate will clock in at about 3h25m in the end. I don't know how familiar people are with this game here, as this topic hasn't been posted in for a while, but I would appreciate any feedback or optimizations anyone notices. I am including a YouTube link to the most recent WIP as of this writing below. Some informational documents and some bk2 movies are in the Drive folder in the video's description. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsxMcLMykvA Thanks! This is my first post here; please let me know if I'm doing something wrong (:
I'm glad someone is working on this game right now, it's a really good job done. I have potentially noticed a slight saving of time which could be considered. In your video (WIP3), from 12:15 to 12:21 you push the stove. You can probably avoid falling back on the platform below, which would avoid the automatic auto-scroll of the screen. As is the case in the video from ISM. https://youtu.be/VXRG9oi-as8?t=720 I'm not totally done looking at the WIP but will try to edit this comment if I notice anything else.

Nice catch! This should save time over the published tas
This is the same time saver as the video Patashu posted in the discussion thread above.

This TAS was very entertaining for me, as Scrimpeh also said, this movie allows to show different tricks and glitch that we would not tend to admire in the other categories of the game. I sincerely hope that this TAS can be accepted and that TASvideo opens up a little more on the different possible categories for a game (other than any%, 100%, playaround ...), as long as they demonstrate new and interesting things worth it. Which is the case for this TAS in my opinion. Yes vote

We actually were able to verify this with a resync, still need to make a yt upload for it. As to the movie entertainment, it looks polished as a TAS and there are some funny elements with everyone losing their pants when they get shot, but it gets old kinda quick. Overall mostly just impressed by the dedication to improving the TAS.
It's quite difficult to renew yourself to entertain by doing different movements I try to do the best to make the levels in autoscroll different from my old TAS. Anyway, thank you for your comment and I hope you like the improvement in the "100%" category too.

There is also the case of this run : GB Looney Tunes (USA) in 09:28.88 by Sonikkustar which was made obsolete by this "glitched" category at the time : GBC Looney Tunes (USA) in 03:53.97 by Aqfaq & Sonikkustar couldn't we give it the "All levels" category or just "any%" and the other one "warp glitch" ?

Good movie and improvement over your previous TAS, I really liked the entertainement you put in the autoscrollers. Sadly, there is too much of them and I have to put a "meh" vote. Great job on the game anyway. Looking forward to see the improved 100%. But if possible, be sure to make it and next submissions to a more recent version of BizHawk with the GBC BIOS enabled (The best would be 2.6.1 in GBA mode to permit console verification of your movie). Note : in your level table, I think you made a mistake by adding the 13 frames lost of the first levels to your total saved at the line of the "Train (end)". The total saved column can count frames lost from the first levels as well to avoid mistakes.
Thanks for your feedback and I'll make sure I'm up to date with the emulator version for the "100%" category. I unfortunately also started working on the game Taz-Mania on Gameboy which will use this old version of BizHawk ... And yes, thanks for pointing this out to me, so it's an improvement of 441 frames instead of 454.

TAS incredible and I am absolutely delighted that this game can finally arrive on the site alongside the other two games. I had a quick question though, why don't you use Luigi's special attack (knockback Bros.) on Cackletta's heart? Doesn't it do enough damage to be used? Obviously yes vote
The reason why we don't use it is not actually because it doesn't do enough damage. Watch how with Luigi we do different attacks basically everytime (we use hammer, we use jump or we fail a jump). This is to manipulate RNG. When you hammer an enemy, the game does 4 RNG calls, meaning it advances RNG 4 times if you get a great on it. When you jump on an enemy and you get a great on it, the game does only 1 RNG call, and when you jump but fail the jump the game doesn't advance RNG at all. But why is it useful to know this you might ask? Well, you see, none of the Bros. attacks advance RNG at all. Consuming an item in battle also doesn't advance RNG. The reason why we don't use Knockback Bros. more often is because it is way slower than failing a jump, even though we do more damage than a failed jump, but the extra damage usually doesn't save or lose any turns. Also, when the heart is revealed in the Cackletta bossfight, even if we somehow kill any of the body parts, she will revive and heal all of them to full health, meaning Knockback Bros. there is literally useless. So, there's your full answer.
Thanks Potato and Snodeca for your answers !
