It would probably be more feasible to rate the top 10 TAS' of all time. It's easier to qualify what should be included, and people can't feel excluded because the terms for judging what is considered "the best" can be easily defined.
I was wondering if the rating of the movies could not be a factor of which movies deserve a star. We could settle for the fact that if a movie has above a certain rating, it deserves a star... I agree on the fact that if only two people rated a movie it's not very meaningful so couldn't we also settle for a minimum votes... Just a thought (maybe 2 cents too)
Stars aren't Best TASes though, they're TASes recommended for first-time viewers. Arguably another "official award" for highly rated/popular movies might be a good thing, but I'm not so sure it's needed. Of course speculation and discussion is always fun though.
Yes, that's true, though I guess that well-rated movies are often popular and the good rating should mean that they are at least entertaining or quite technical so they coul also be recommended for first-time viewers... I still do not know what to think about the moon-marked movies (I did not check if the moon was still used)

Of course... though running through good games will make you more "famous" than doing lame ones...

Yeah, I know what you mean... when I watch them, I, myself, am not satisfied with those fights... But those fights are so problematic... Leviathan and Harpuia are flyers (well swimmer for the former) and I have many constraints during those fights : - I have to make them move so that it allows me to combo slash them after a charged saber - I have to prevent them from using their super attack during which they are invicible and which is super long too... By taking those points into account it's hard to make a fight look good and speedy... At least it's quite speedy... I really do not know how to do them differently...

Well, if I take the same road as JXQ and adelikat, I'd love to congratulate Spezzafer whose runs are incredible, Nitsuja for his Sonic super speedy and super entertaining runs. I'd like to give two special mentions one for Gigafrost who is an incredible TAser and who pushes the limit of perfection and the other one would go to angerfist... I love his megaman runs (and special mentions to those who did them with him too !!)

Here is another WIP... I've just finished the next four levels so this one ends after the battle against Leviathan... which was a real pain... Appreciate it or not but give me your comments on it

Xaphan buddy sorry Im very late but I finally had the chance to view your WIP and Im awed at your perfection, dedication and Xaphanism! You Da man! P.S Now we need you to finish this and then we have all the Mega Man Zero games TASed.
Thx a lot, though my perfection is not the least bit as good as yours in your run... I'm progressing smoothly, just kicked Harpuia's ass... I'm at half of Fefnir's level... next WIP soon (probable when I'm done humiliating Leviathan...)

No, I shall finish Zero 2 first... Anyway, maybe someone will be interesting in improving my current run of MMZ4... If that's the case I can give him my file with the first two levels improved and take part into the run too when I'm done with MMZ2

I'm reviving this topic, beacause I noted some inerests into this game again... I planned to improve this run (I already began) but I wish this time to share my run with someone... I've used the (E) version of the rom

Am I the only one who thinks that normal mode run will be almost the same as already published one?..
No, but that's because Xaphan's published movie is pretty close to the ideal. I would actually be pretty upset if a normal mode submission wasn't similar. Also, I am of the people that think that hard mode, while "edgy" and "different", is not any more entertaining than the normal mode publish is. Since your character will be weaker, you'll have to rely on either weaker repetition attacks (Knuckle + Roll), or use weapons that are stronger than this. Essentially, the only weapons you'll really use are the Axeloid Axes and the Daggers that Weil fires off. Any other items you can pull probably won't speed up anything beyond what is possible with the Knuckle+Roll combo. That isn't enough of a difference to really make it seem worthwhile. In fact, it's even more restricted than the published version, since it uses the EX Skills for interesting combos. Final Verdict: A hard mode submission will not be anywhere near as interesting as the published version. It will be longer, more repetetive, and third point here. That being said, if you're doing this without the hopes of it being accepted, go for it. Otherwise, if you do plan to submit this, I wouldn't hold your breath for an acceptance.
Well, thx... However, I think my run can be improved a lot... I've already began to improve it but it's suspended for now as I'm running through MMZ2... For the improvement I'm using the (E) version of the rom... If anyone wants to continue it or help me improving MMZ4 run I'd be glad to share my work with him... For now I've improved the first two levels by a good amount of frames (do not have the number in head) and I plan to get the double jump foot chip to sae a LOT of time... though it requires changes in the boss order and a LOT (yes, again) of LUCK MANIPULATION... Well I'm an open-minded guy, and if anyone wants to improve the existent run along with me, i'd be happy... (using the (E) rom). And to conclude, I agree with Zurreco on the fact that hard mode run would only make the whole thing slower and not really interesting as hard mode restricts a lot the variety of attacks you can use making the run a lot more boring... Well... that's my opinion

Well... To be honest, I agree on some points with Zefiris, and I agree with you McBain, that I could avoid Ciel being hit.... THOUGH : This part is SOOOOO annoying to do and SOOOOO boring !!!!!!!!!!! I do not feel like redoing it for three shots I unfortunately miscalculated... The Shield Boomerang battles are great I agree... though since I get the charge saber I do not think it will be useful a lot at this point of the run... I'm progressing in Harpuis's level right now... Some notes : - Kuwagust and Burble are REALLY annoying to battle... The reason is that they have a lot of attacks making them impossible to combo slash... Moreover the only attack that make them vulnerable to combo slashes are also annoying : for Kuwagust he can stop the slash by inhaling zero and blocking him in its pinchers while Burble use its tongue to stick zero (that's why I place myself right on Burble in order to avoid its tongue) - I foresee a hard battle against the guardians as they have very few attacks that make them stand still on the ground (especially for Harpuia and Leviathan...) - I do not agree with Zefiris on the fact that it is the worst MMZ game for TAsing... Yes, the mid-boss of Panther Flauclaws and Ciel's protection mission are annoying though, as your weapons are not levelled up at all at the beginning of the game, I have to use rather unpredictable combination that still makes the game interesting... That's all... see you soon

Moreover, regarding the Hard mode debate, I agree with Zurreco... Playing in hard mode in not a lot more interesting... It slows the whole thing and many techniques that could be ciombined in normal mode do not exist in hard mode, making (in my opinion) the run more boring... Finally, one who would like to do so must use the japanese rom as it's the one I used to perform my run...

Well, I won't vote for it though, if I had to, it'd be no. All the main reasons for it have alreaby been stated here. It's clear that it has to be improved a lot. I did not watch the whole thing though for the only first level you could have done it a lot better : - No dash slashes need to be used - You did not grab the bombs to destroy the first boss faster. - You should use buster a lot more to destroy enemies, it does not stop the game on contact and does not slow the run... - You do not need to pull off the shield of the flamethrowers to destroy them... And many more... You should play at a slower speed I think and use Frame advance to improve your run...

Well, well, I've stated that we have many megaman fans around here... Though I do not know how many of you had the chance to play Megaman ZX (I imported it from the states, I could not wait...) Well, for those who are interested, I found those strange animated GIFs while browsing around on the web... (It contains SPOILERS... ) Anyway, either the guy is really good either he used something I cannot figure out (I do not know any NDS emulator working). So If anyone has an idea of how he managed to do that (the GIF format for showing a prowess is really strange, isn't it?), i'd be glad to understand... I do not know anything in japanese so i cannot understand what's written on their forum... well strange...[/url]

Well... For the forms, i've settled that only the Rise Form is useful in a pure speed run... It packs two more damages and speeds up boss fights... The EXSkills are simply useless in MMZ2... The reason is simple, they cannot be combined with any other attacks (contrary to MMZ3... watch my run if you do not see my point...) There are only a few combos doable in this game, and they are not really useful as well... By the way what is your Sengatotsu thing ??

welcome... To say things about TASing (new verb), I'd say that it's not hard to understand the process... though its' quite time consuming... The hard part is to select a game that would make a great TASpeedrun... Though I'm sure there still are plenty of those... well try to try once at least

the reason is simple... By doing Polar Kamrous' stage first I can kill many enemies and upgrade my saber to level 2... Then I do Panther Flauclaws because there are many enemies there too that allows me to upgrade my saber to level 3 quite early in the game... If i began by Hyleg I'm not even sure I'd have been able to upgrade to level 2 before fighting Hyleg himself (because there are really few enemies to kill with the saber in that level) and it would have taken much more time to dispose of the bosses. That's the reason...
