Also, I don't think "minimal button presses" should be considered arbitrary, because it essentially replaces the "minimal time spent" main objective. Minimizing the button presses needed to beat the game has in practice the same effort of breaking the boundaries of in-game/real time needed to do so. And if anyone can come across a better strategy and make it to the end with fewer presses, even if it costs more time, it should obsolete the current TAS.

While the chosen goal has the downside of not being greatly exploited at the beginning and ending of the TAS, and thus giving a bad initial impression, it indeed provides some new and fancy tricks and glitches. I'm voting yes. By the way, I always wondered why there isn't any SMB TAS which completes the game also in the second quest, since it can be essentially considered the game's Hard Mode. For this specific objective it would perhaps be proven interesting, because all Goombas are replaced with Buzzy Beetles, which could be shell-exploited as much as the Troopas.

Now I understand why that one's called Phobos Anomaly. Yes vote! Looking forward to next episodes. It would also be great to see some 100% or Nightmare on this.

Turns out that I found this one very interesting and innovative, thus also very entertaining for my taste. On the other hand the author himself did notice a lot of suboptimal choices of his own, meaning that perhaps we should first update the run before submit it. It also made me wonder if a 100% Richter/Maria run on the Alucard scenario (meaning Richter/Maria beats every single boss, including Alucard's exclusive ones) is possible.

This is one of those runs that makes the game seem ridiculously easy. Nice!

Easy yes vote. I love how this run makes the game's AI seem to be set on practice mode instead of 'very hard'. Entertainment sometimes lies on the subtle, not on the flashy.

I wish I could say the same about Mega Man X series though; the number of hacks of Mega Man X games can be counted on one hand.
I'm so looking forward MMX Corrupted and Maverick's Fury. BTW, I liked this hack. The reuse of many classic bosses was a better choice than some fortuit big bosses. I just can't understand how the Yellow Devil was put aside though.

Existence is but an illusion. That was amazing to watch. To me this TAS has established a breaking point that asks for future non-glitch versions of it (being Sandopolis 1 the main example given by the author himself). It's the price to pay for the hard work on optimizing though. I laughed at the end of Marble Garden 2 because of Tails. Technically he came up just after Sonic's last relevant move (free the cage), so he didn't "help" in any ways on the entire run. Also it's fun to see him being brought to crushing death...

Nice run, with a handful of great moments. The Metropolis Zones were the best. I also loved the glitch at the last hit on Eggman In Aquatic Ruin. But Sky Chase shouldn't have been so lazy, the author could at least try to entertain the viewer. Oh, and the submission notes are pure crap. Still so, yes vote.

I watched before reading this thread, and I had the feeling he damaged some few shooters at stages 2 and 4.

This has some technical entertainment, as one could wonder how the game's mechanics could work without having the Y button pressed. But aesthetically it looks too much as a normal non-optimized run. There are some real fun parts, like the Rambi mount-and-dismount in Manic Mincers.

This is superb. Going up in Level 3 was pure genious, and I'd never ever think on seeing a boss fight while still invincible. The invincible hits at the spiked walls on Hangar were also sweet. And this "semi-2p mode" is really something worth attention. Clear yes vote.

As long as it may be (and as it needs to be while some mega blaster glitch is yet to be discovered), this pleased me, and I think it would please any FF7 hardcore fan. The TAS is long because the game is freaky long, and the individual strategies for each part of the game are great. Yes vote.

Correct, the last phase of the final boss has a infinite-loop path and the rings gets restart and restar and never ends. But in general doomsday zone has 194 normal rings to collect during the level, if you check the "camhack + ring locations encode" you can see that the rings respawn just before the final hit. But we won't collected these rings because these was duplicated and we don't want to collect rings until reach the timelimit.
So there was no need to change the aim priority for that level, since you defined as "collected" the written objects of the memory game. Great choice, with no inconsistency criteria.

If you look at the Tails POV Encode, he collects some rings everytime before getting sent back to Sonic. I think that's the part you mean, even though I have no knowledge about this game.
I thought it would be the case, since the ring counter increases little by little at this point. I'm watching the encode by Tails' focusing now. Too bad the modification has so much abrupt screen changing, it pesters my sight. Nonetheless it would be nice if we had an encode showing both points of view, possibly with Tails' screen flattened on the right bottom of main screen.

Obvious yes vote, by the way. No need to argue. :) I wonder how Doomsday Zone was planned? Is it possible to indefinitely grow your ring counter by collecting more rings than they run out, I guess? But that would mean never finishing the game, since all rings respawn, and 999 isn't the real limit (as seen in Marble Garden 1), so the second phase of the zone had the primary and secondary aims swapped (time over rings) while still collecting the higher possible amount, is that so?

Lava Reef 2: "Bah, I'm sick of this damn rings, gonna reach Eggman straight at once." ..."just kidding, fellas."

So we're all fooled by Agahnim and there's no Dark World, it's just the next room. Obvious yes vote. This run hits the high of non-linearity.

I never knew there was an 8-bit port of this game. It seems like a quite decent port, I'd say. And great run! It was nice to see Ripley rescuing prisoners by flaming them at a distance.

I would prefer a run that merges "max coins" and "all items". You could 1st goal: get all items and then, as a 2nd goal, get all coins possible (Without hurting the 1st goal; Not the same coin twice) And as a 3rd goal, destroy all blocks possible (Without hurting the 1st and 2nd goal; Not the same blocks twice) And as a 4th goal, kill all enemies possible (Without hurting the 1st, 2nd and 3rd goal; Lakitu and his spawns; but not jumping Cheep-cheep and Bullet bill. As a stylistic choice, you might go for highest flagpole jump and 6 fireworks every stage.
I thought something like this while watching it. I would only disagree on the 3rd goal: destroying empty blocks would make a very boring TAS (think about 2-1 and the time it would consume to hit the reacheable ceiling blocks); I'd say as well that destroying the appearing Bullet Bills would be nice (just as in this run for a certain stage) and the same would apply to appearing Lakitus. Finally, caring about fireworks seems to considerably slow down the run. That all being said, probably such a run would never be accepted here, since it has so many arbitrary goals.

Hydrocity 2... nah, just boss fight. Marble Garden 1... nah, just Atc 2 boss fight. Carnival Night... nah, just open capsule. Icecap 1... nah.

Now the "fastest time" run would be a new any% that skips most upgrades except the arm cannon, and fights Zero, right? It would be cool to see it, since it would be the perfect supplement to this one, and also aims for fastest completion.

Awesomely great run! Best parts to me were the giant crab fight, passing through Clanker's clogs without any gold feathers, all the Pharaoh rings without flying, among many other nice stuff. Easy yes vote.
